12:30 -- Some notes from Norvell interview, which you can watch below:
* Says it was a good practice. Thought the team started and ended well, but had a little lull in the middle. Said he and the coaches corrected it in the moment, making sure the players understand that lulls in practice can translate to lapses in games.
* Said he's been impressed by how hard the team is working, despite the losses on Saturdays. "These guys want it." Just need to be cleaner with focus and details. But the work is there.
* On Keyshawn having a great day of practice. Said he had an "incredible" fall camp and played well in the opener but had the drop in the second game. Said things like that can be tough to come back from. Said all great WRs remember the drops. But you can't dwell on them. "Today was a great day for him. Had a couple really big catches in tight windows. We need him to play big."
* Norvell explained that Randy Shannon helped in a more expanded role late last week and during the game because DBs coach Marcus Woodson had to take some time off due to a death in the family. Said it's great to have Shannon and that he helped a lot in that role. … Woodson has been back at practice this week.
* Lawrance Toafili is back practicing after missing last week with an undisclosed injury. Norvell said he looked great today with a couple of big runs. Said he thinks the explosive plays from him on Saturday are "coming." "I thought he brought a great spark today"
* Pointed out that DL Malcolm Ray played 25-30 snaps last Saturday and played his best game since he's been here. Said Jarrett Jackson has stepped up too with Fabien Lovett out.
* Said he liked the way Jordan Travis pushed himself to practice today and show improvement. He was limited yesterday and isn't 100 percent but pushed himself to have a strong practice.
11:10 -- Team transitioned to the IPF, lots of work vs. scout team. Before then, Robert Cooper had an impressive win in one-on-one pass rush. Baveon Johnson did a good job of keeping his cool when an underclassman got chippy after the play; Odell quickly admonished the player. Keyshawn Helton had a real solid day, making tough catches, also had a nice nab on a crosser. Jordan Young caught a deep pass in the end zone where he had to adjust to the underthrown ball. Thought Jordan Travis started real strong but sort of tapered off as the periods progressed -- early on he was seeing things on time and had good placement on his throws. First team defense was just crushing scout team; the pass rush was dominant even with Jermaine johnson taking most of it off; Derrick McClendon was creating lots of pressure. That's about it for the latter periods of the day. Interviews coming up shortly.
9:45 -- The offensive skill players spent a couple periods on on individual drills, while the defense spent some time working against the scout-team offense, preparing for Syracuse.
They came back together for 11-on-11 to work on different third-down situations ...
Travis took the first series and hit a good pass on the sideline for Helton, who turned upfield and picked up a big gain. His next pass was to McClain, but it was too hot to handle. Looked like he was trying to force it into a tight window, but would have been a great catch. Then Toafili got stuffed by Lundy on a run ... Lundy really triggered and filled the hole quickly.
Chubba's series didn't go well, but not all his fault. First pass was incomplete, then had a high pass go off TE Preston Daniel's hands, where it was intercepted by Stephen Dix. Then he completed a pass to Jordan Young, and Dix stripped the ball from him.
Travis got another series and hit a nice pass to Pokey Wilson that went for a big gain.
Then when they did their one goal line play, Travis hit Helton for the TD. Helton made a great catch on a ball that was low and behind him. Helton is having a much better day today.

9:15 — In the early portion, Jordan Travis ran the two-minute drill.
He hit a couple of passes, including a pretty pass over the middle to Keyshawn Helton for a big gain. Was a nice throw and catch. Looked like Kevin Knowles was the DB in the area.
Kalen DeLoach also had a pass deflection on a pass over the middle. Looked like it was a good defensive play more than a bad pass.
Drive ended with a sack. More coming soon.

Big group of scouts here today. Bills, Cowboys, 49ers and a few others.
