So we're on a downsizing kick. We've kicked Comcast cable to the curb but still using Comcast internet and telephone.

Trying to make a case for kicking the telephone to curb as well. The options of Ooma and Vonage appear to be incompatible with most home security systems. Of course the home security people say use a celluar option. The cost of the celluar option defeats the purpose of disconnecting Comcast in the first place.

Anybody out there running a home security system and a VOIP system like Ooma or Vonage?

I use Phone Power which uses a device from Grandstream to convert from VoIP to traditional voice. All jacks are wired into a Levitron that bridges them to a jack I plug into the Grandstream.

Cannot think of a reason why this wouldn't work with a Home Security product. Grandstream provides dial-tone.
