What’s the last concert you went to and the next one you are attending?

My last concert was Beck a couple of months ago. My next one is Weezer/Pixies in July.

Including other types of shows, I'm going to see Anthony Jeselnik tomorrow night and then the Harry Potter play in a couple of weeks.
FWIW, Anthony Jeselnik was really funny. It's got to be your type of humor though, or you won't like it. My 14yo daughter was laughing her butt off though - we had a great time.

He had an opening comedian that wasn't very funny though, IMO. In what I find to be a very common crutch used by women comedians, her entire set was limited to lines about her ladyparts, and penises/having sex. It's just not that funny to me.

Just saw ZZ Top and Fogerty in Pensacola.

That Lil Ol Band from Texas was great.

Fogerty was OK except for when he brought out his son wearing some red clown outfit to sing a couple of songs. The son wasn't good, and has wild crazy eyes. Fogerty's music was good, but he seemed to be trying way too hard to put on a show. I guess I'm a little bit of a purist, kind of like Don Henley, but let the music speak for itself.

I saw ‘Train’ last night at my company's user conference here in Las Vegas @ the MGM Grand.

They were (to me) surprisingly good. I had low expectations but I had a genuinely good time.

I’m not a fan of his cheesy antics on stage but there’s no denying that Pat Monihan’s voice is flat out stellar.

They played 3 songs off Zeppelin II, Under Pressure by Queen/Bowie, and Free Fallin’ by Petty, in addition to all of their hits.

I am not a Train fan at all, but Monihan has a great voice. He is a huge Zeppelin fan and would probably be a rock guy if he could have made it that way.

I've seen Train twice. Was never a big fan of theirs. In fact I always thought "Drops of Jupiter" was some other band's song. But I have enjoyed them both times.

Last one I went to was Dierks Bentley at Dailys Place with my wife.

Next one is the Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kid Rock and Jason Aldean show in September at Everbank, also with the wife.

We've been watching Black Jacket's tours for Pink Floyd near us. Queen and Eagles too.
They typically do Dark Side as their first show in a new market to get their name around. It’s pretty darn spectacular. So is Eagles and anything Beatles

I get a kick out of Jeselnik's jokes. He sort of cloaks his act in a "I can't believe he said that!" aura, and I don't really enjoy comics (or movies or TV shows) that get most of their mileage out of shock value. However, Jeselnik wraps that around exquisitely written jokes that are EXACTLY my favorite type of comedy. Nothing beats a great actual joke to me.

I can certainly enjoy other observational type standup and funny delivery, etc just fine, but give me actual jokes all day every day. There aren't that many comedians that actually work primarily in jokes, and he's one of them. His whole transgressive schtick doesn't detract from the jokes for me, and helps some of them...keeps you from seeing where they are coming from sometimes. My personal favorite:

When I finished high school, I wanted to take all my graduation money and buy myself a motorcycle. But my mom said no. See, she had a brother who died in a horrible motorcycle accident when he was 18.

And I could just have his motorcycle.

Last Friday I saw ZZ Top and John Fogerty in Pensacola, good concert
Fogerty was awesome, forgot he's 73!
next show I'm going to is The White Tie Rock Ensemble at the
Saenger in Penacola. Regional talent doing the music of Wings, the Stones,
U2 and ELO.
No plans right now for a national act.

Just as an FYI, Weezer and the Pixies are in Tampa on the 23rd and in Nawhlins the following Tues. I’m likely going to one of those unless I get too busy.

And Train is playing in Tally on the 21st.

Might go see John Michael Montgomery in a couple of weeks. On the plus side, it's a smaller, night club venue; I prefer those to big arenas. On the down side, the club is in New Port Richey, which means I'll be risking numerous diseases, might get my car broken into/stolen my one of the many meth addicts there, or at best just be hanging out with mostly dirtbags.

Just realized there is a festival in Winter Park this weekend. SOJA headlines Saturday and Ziggy Marley on Sunday. That would be a helluva weekend. But we are headed to tally next week to move the boy into the dorms so there's too much to do around the house to spend a weekend with a contact high in the mountains.

My wife and I accidentally saw part of a One Republic concert at Chateau. St Michelle a few years ago. We were stopping off at various wineries throughout Seattle and Woodinville and when we stopped in it was ridiculously crowded. We waited about an hour to do our tasting and after we left we had to go past the concert area to get to our car. I don’t know if that was the main concert venue or if One Republic was still small enough to play lesser stages at that point.

Now my next concert will probably be the Turnpike Troubadours in August.

Last one was Billy Joel in Tampa in February
Next one no plans as of yet

I'm also going to the White Tie Rock Ensemble. I regularly go to Bands On Blackwater to see local artists. No other plans for big name acts, but I'm probably going to plan something in the next month or two for later in the year.

Last concert was Charlottesville Symphony Orchestra performing Holst's "The Planets" and Saariaho's "Orion." Got tickets for Death Cab in October, been some time since we've seen them. I'm sure we'll catch something around here in the summer or on our annual sojourn to visit the yungin in Denver.

......

I love his dark humor. I thought his tv show was great, guess I was alone in that. When he is on the dais for a roast, I always look forward to his set.

Back to the OP, last concert I saw was Cake in Jax back in 99? And next one planned is likely in another 19 years.

That’s because you saw Cake ;)

Going to see Aaron Barker tonight at my local Brass Tap; apparently will be a relaxed evening of him talking about his experiences in the music industry, giving background info on some of his songs, and playing/singing some. Any of you ever heard of him?
His success has been mostly as a country music writer (he's in the Nashville songwriter's hall of fame). He's written a number of country hits, including several that George Strait topped the country charts with.
Even if you've never heard of him, I'd bet you would recognize his voice; he also wrote & sings the commercial jingles for Blue Bell ice cream
