Worse Defensive Call

I have not seen anyone mention this play yet so I thought I would ask what people thought. In the 4th qrt (about 5:30 in the game) after Walker gets the strip sack that Miami OL recovers, on the next play we have Reggie Northup covering a TE man to man deep down the seam. The ball was overthrown and it looked like a safety came in late to help, but did anyone have a problem with this call? Why put our MLB (who just came off ACL, and isn't known for pass coverage) in that position in the first place? I know the play didn't work but the call doesn't make sense to me.
