Robert Scott

Is his normal position "tackle"? I think his feet are a little slow. He constantly got beat more times than I can count against Louisville. I know depth is an issue but if there are no other options besides the young man then why doesn't Dillingham give him some help on that side? I'm not defending Mac but he was under pressure all night from the right tackle spot. Not criticising but just an observation that we seriously need help either through recruiting or scheme to get this figured out.

Team Gel

Norvell gutted last year’s roster along with some other departures that was filled with young guys and transfers.

This team hasn’t had the proper time to gel. These guys haven’t played (battled ) together. Even Our Qb Milton is a kid who hadn’t played in 3 yrs, The 2nd half of the Louisville game is some of the best defense we’ve seen in some time. Maybe the Jello has hardened and now we can eat!

The offense is worse than the defense.

Call for Fulller jobs until the cows come home but ya get a turnover on the second play of the game and the O can not Capitalize. Ya get a shut out the second half and the O score 10 points. if the O is not putting the D in terrible situation after terrible situation, they are serviceable.not good nor great but serviceable. The O is putrid

4 games in - defensive backs - where are we at year end??

like where we are at safety - talent athletes ball skills
green / williams - even the #2s gant and dent

like nickel - robinson really coming on and knowles flashed but has played like a fresh

do not know what to think at corner
start of year jones jay brownlee now we have
brownlee and Meiko .. with jones and jay as back ups
how do we finish ,, they are young can 1-2 become really good?

BESIDES MEIKO THE OLD GUY IN THE SECONDARY IS A SOPHOMORE

Ryder Cup troll: Florida State great Paul Azinger drops hilarious punch line about Seminoles

Ryder Cup trash talking is no surprise, but what came out of nowhere late Friday morning was a troll job from NBC Sports commentator Paul Azinger.

It came shortly after the former Florida State, Azinger, watched fellow former FSU golfers Brooks Koepka and Daniel Berger take down Lee Westwood and Matt Fitzpatrick 2 and 1 in opening session of Ryder Cup.

“First win of the year for Florida State!,” Azinger said on the Golf Channel broadcast.

Louisville bits

So I saw my buddy for a few minutes last night. Didn’t ask him any specific questions just listened to him talk a bit
He was big on Purdy last year. Told me guy ha the most potential of our quarterbacks. Let me know though that he is “not ready”. He is trying to rely on his athleticism. Not grasping the play book. Maybe he can come in and play better than he does in practice but he gave me no indication that they are ready to throw him out there So unless something changes this week, then those hoping we make a youth movement for the rest of the season are gonna be disappointed.
I did complain about parchment (he was loafing right in front of me…asking for a sub with a minute to play bc he was tired and didn’t want to run back to the huddle…. looked whiny when he screwed up, etc) and he told me that he is probably their best option unfortunately. He is a bit of a head case but has the most talent and connection with KZ (which is scary to me bc parchement screwed up the scramble drill in the 4th quarter, then screwed the pooch on the last play that was intercepted)

he was very proud of the OL yesterday. Just about everyone was playing hurt. Scott’s ankle was so bad he couldn’t set on it so he and Washington had to switch sides ….Johnson was not 100% obviously. DLT had his shoulder sublux during the game and played on. Gibbons was banged up with multiple minor issues.

he wouldn’t comment on the fuller rumors and honestly didn’t seem to know anything (some rumors that fuller is done)
He did say that fuller is the least liked coach from a player perspective (which isn’t always a bad thing)
he remains extremely optimistic. Like weirdly optimistic. He literally said that with the ACC being so down this year, They are focused on getting better, winning next week and seeing what happens. He mentioned still being in the conference race. (I encouraged him to start with one win 😀)!!

speaking of quarterbacks, They are very excited about Duffy and parsons. Duffy is a quiet leader type and parsons is more of the alpha leader (unfortunately none of that helps us this year😀)

lastly just a tidbit on ward and Corbin. Both of them are the first to volunteer to give the defense scout team looks. Both are great kids with awesome attitudes. Both are team first guys who work their butts off

he said that Friday practice this week was one of their best. Team is not giving up and practices like they are 3-0 not 0-3. Mike Golic watched practice Friday and said if he didn’t know any better, he would assume we were undefeated.
that and 5 bucks gets us a Starbucks coffee. I know. But at least the attitude is right. Players are working. They are still believing and aren’t giving up
Segments are still meeting with each other and with other segments (like OL and QBs are meeting on their own, etc).
he continues to assure me that things are a lot different than the “Willie taggart” era as far as organization, Work, attitude, etc.
coaches show up at 5:30 am and go home at midnight most days ….taggart staff was NOT like that…those wishing he was still around have no idea how dysfunctional they were.
They are 0-4 but it is not for lack of effort
Take it for what it’s worth.

Based on everything I have heard from him over the last 2-3 years, I still believe in norvell. I know I’m beginning to be in the minority but if we can keep this recruiting class together and players continue to work like they are, I believe things will get turned around. It’s just hard to keep driving 6 hours to watch this product. But I’ll keep doing it! I’ll be at Clemson in a few weeks as well. Call me a sucker!

Louisville 31, FSU 23 FINAL

FSU gets the ball to its own 42 and then Milton takes a shot to Parchment down the sideline. Not only does Parchment not make a play, he allows the corner to go and intercept the pass. Ball game.
FSU falls to 0-4.
Louisville 31, FSU 23 FINAL

FSU defense got another stop. Gave the offense a chance to go down and tie the game. Once again, the offense couldn't do it. A fourth-down pass attempt to Parchment sails well past him (he stopped running). And that gives Louisville the ball with a little over two minutes remaining.
Louisville 31, FSU 23 2:07 4th

Corbin busts another big run, but the FSU offense gets swallowed up after that. Still managed to make it a one-score game though on a Fitzgerald 45-yard field goal. FSU continues to struggle mightily on third down offensively.
Louisville 31, FSU 23 8:40 4th

FSU defense has forced five punts in a row. But the Seminoles' offense can't do anything about it. A fourth-down attempt was snuffed out by the Louisville defense and the Cardinals have a shot to go for the nail in the coffin now.
Louisville 31, FSU 20 11:00 4th

FSU defense had a chance at a big turnover when Louisville fumbled a draw play on third and long. But the Cardinals recovered, then Helton failed to catch the punt and FSU offense took over at its own 4.
A four-and-out and the Seminoles had to punt again. Big play was a sack in which it looked like Milton chose the P of the RPO and Robert Scott didn't expect him to. Anyway, huge critical mistake by Helton not catching that punt.
Louisville 31, FSU 20 5:11 3rd

FSU defense got a 4-and-out on the next drive, but a good punt pinned FSU to its own 10. And then Milton's third down scramble was three yards short of the first down. Looked like he could've maybe gotten if it if he had kept running straight ahead, but veered outside instead.
Louisville 31, FSU 20 10:04 3rd

Hey. That's a fun start! JaShaun Corbin goes 75 yards on the second play of the half. Great run. And FSU is back in it. Sort of.
Louisville 31, FSU 20 14:49 3rd

FSU finally forces an incompletion on third down, gets the ball back with 30 seconds left at its own 20. Hits a couple of passes, but not enough to even attempt a Hail Mary. Louisville has 316 total yards and is 8 of 10 on third downs. Best half for a Louisville offense since I'm guessing the 2016 game against FSU.
Louisville 31, FSU 13 HALFTIME

Milton marches em right down the field. Made some great throws. Seminoles go 75 yards in five plays. 41 seconds. He finds Parchment for the 23-yard score. Left way too much time for this awful defense, but still ... nice drive. Fitzgerald missed the PAT.
Louisville 31, FSU 13 1:08 2nd

FSU goes three and out. Thanks to a drop by Jordan Wilson. Was actually a nice find by Milton on third down.
And Louisville goes right down the field again. Scores on a 21-yard pass to Watkins. FSU defense is abysmal.
Fuller might not be long for this world.
Louisville 31, FSU 7 1:49 2nd

Just an awful defensive effort there by FSU. Louisville goes 82 yards in 15 plays. Picked up three more third downs. None were relatively close to being defended and Cunningham scores on a 1-yard run. Cardinals have scored every time they've touched the ball.
Louisville 24, FSU 7 6:47 2nd

Nice answer of a drive by FSU. Big play was a pass down the middle to McDonald, followed by a personal foul on Louisville. Milton scrambled for a first down on what looked like a busted play. And then Ward scores on third and two ... on a 20-yard run in which nobody was on that side of the field. Well-designed play.
Louisville 17, FSU 7 13:30 2nd

FSU goes for it on fourth down around midfield. Doesn't get it. Louisville goes right down the field and scores again. Picked up two crucial third downs, including one in which the back judge called OPI on Louisville and the other officials talked him out of it. Because why wouldn't they?
Louisville 17, FSU 0 1:14 1st

Seminoles got what should have been a third-down stop, but Brendan Gant pushed Cunningham out of bounds when he was going to be well short of the marker. So, fresh set of downs resulted in Louisville getting a 43-yard FG. And because FSU has FSU luck, it hit off the post and went through. Of course it did.
Louisville 10, FSU 0 7:27 1st

FSU offense comes out on the field and in three plays is off the field. A shovel pass to Pokey loses a yard, got tripped up by the first guy near him. A screen pass to McLain gets a yard, he was tackled by first guy near him. And then Milton got sacked on a three-man rush. Robert Scott was beat on the outside.
Louisville 7, FSU 0 11:51 1st

FSU forces a third and 10, which naturally Louisville completes on a 12-yard pass. Then on the next play, Cunningham hits a wide-open Tyler Harrell for a 59-yard TD. Ran right past Dotson.
Louisville 7, FSU 0 13:37 1st

FSU won the toss and deferred. Will be Louisville ball first.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3:10 -- Lovett usually does the pregame huddle hype talk before the players go into the locker room for the final time. With Lovett not playing today, backup DL Jarrett Jackson did the honors. Jackson actually started his career at Louisville.

3:00 -- Not seeing DT Fabien Lovett or DB Akeem Dent out there in warmups.

2:52 -- Looks like Darius Washington and Brady Scott are doing some of the backup center work behind Baveon Johnson.

2:50 -- Robert Scott is out now warming up in uniform. Have not seen Maurice Smith yet.

2:45 -- Yeah, doesn't look like Travis is doing any of the drop-back passes. Chubba going second in the rotation behind Milton.

2:40 -- Travis is out there suited up and warming up with the other QBs. Still looks a little limited with that knee brace, but we'll see if he's available. ... A few people have asked about the health of Louisville QB Malik Cunningham. He looks fine in pregame.

2:25 -- FSU sideline announcer Tom Block says on the pregame show he's "pretty confident" OT Robert Scott will be able to play today against Louisville. Not as sure on center Maurice Smith.

2:18 -- Some coaches catching up with old friends during pregame today ... former FSU LB Derek Nicholson is Louisville's linebackers coach, and FSU WRs coach Ron Dugans coached the Cardinals' receivers earlier in his career.

2:05 -- Several of the WRs, LBs and DBs are out now loosening up. One note: Freshman WR Josh Burrell has a boot on his right foot and is on a scooter. So he is out today.

1:55 -- RBs out on the field now just taking a walk around the field. Not seeing Toafili with them right now.

1:45 -- Based on the way Jordan was moving around, it seems unlike that he'll play. He really was favoring that leg. My guess is you'll see Milton with Purdy as the top backup.

1:38 -- All of the QBs are out to loosen up, but Jordan Travis has a pretty bulky knee brace on.

Good afternoon! We're here at Doak Campbell Stadium for FSU-Louisville (3:30 p.m., ESPN2).

Will have updates here on players participating, etc., shortly. ... Judging by the parking lots outside, does not look like it's gonna be a great crowd, which isn't too surprising. We'll see how it goes.

FSU Should Win This Week....

Honestly I'm not in favor of firing coaches in the middle of the year and running them and their family out of town. If I could have had it my way, Charles Kelly would have been fired in the locker room after the Louisville debacle. For some reason I'm still more embarrassed about the game than Jax St. It seems like FSU has never recovered from that game. That being said I dug into some real stats. Syracuse has 2 struggling QBs. Both QBs combined have thrown for less than 800 yards. Garret Shrader has thrown 1 pass on the road. He was the starter last week. They also suck on 3rd down.

If Fuller makes either of these kids look like Tom Brady Saturday then he really needs to be demoted after the game. I'd be in favor of Shannon taking over until the season ends. This is a game of where you keep things simple, FSU should just be able to OUT ATHLETE Syracuse. They shouldn't score more than 14.

Syracuse sucks on 3rd down

So much for easy money

I thought last week's even to -2 was easy money for a UL give the points. If FSU scores on the last drive we cover. That said, I'm thinking our D comes to play this week and we beat Cuse by more than the current 4 or 5 point spread. I'm going to the game and putting last week's profit on FSU. Am I thinking with my heart and not my head?

Sammie Smith

Well the game watching didn’t have the finish we wanted, but I really enjoyed meeting and visiting with Sammie Smith with the Triad Seminole Booster Club. Was great hearing his stories and his testimony; made mistakes in his life, but is doing a lot of good now.

One thing he encouraged us all to do was to be mindful of the fact that recruits really do read these boards. If we trash our team, coaches and players, the recruits see this and it does have an impact. Remember to take the high road. Login to view embedded media
