I was watching Packer and Durham this morning and there was a quick clip/commercial with Bobby Bowden. An old locker room speech of his, and it is AWESOME. It got me to thinking about the story of Captain Cortés, and the Spanish conquest of Mexico in 1519. Once he landed, he scuttled his ships so that his men would have to conquer or die. Basically, he created a point of no return for himself and his men.
Regardless of how it happened or who is to blame, I believe our ships are burned and we have no choice but to stick with Coach Norvell and support our team. We don't have the option of firing Norvell and hiring another head coach. Our best option is to suck it up, support our team and coach, and stay the course. I sat in the old wooden bleachers in the end zone at Doak, so I've seen our highs and lows. Believe me, it's painful to watch what I'm seeing on the field this season. But we need to embrace the suck, and understand our only (and best) option is to support Norvell and our team.
P.S. Watch that Bowden clip on the ACCN! It will make you want to run through walls!!!
