FSU gets one first down. That's it. Then punts. Jax State takes over down by 3 with 92 seconds left. They have two timeouts.
And Jacksonville State throws a 59-yard TD pass on the final play of the game. Somehow, someway, FSU doesn't have any deep help over the top. And Jax State wins on a miracle play.
Go drink everyone. Gonna be another long season. Yikes. Maybe the worst loss in FSU history.
Jacksonville State 20, FSU 17 FINAL
And Jacksonville State answers with a 96-yard TD drive to cut the lead to three. With a little less than five minutes left. Brownlee had an INT but it was taken away because of a targeting call on Deloach. Two plays later Jax State scores on a wide open TD pass. Just busted coverage. FSU has 11 penalties for 114 yards.
FSU 17, Jacksonville State 14 4:45 4th
FSU just had an 89-yard drive. All the way down inside the Jax State 2. But Toafili got stopped for a loss and McClain's potential fourth-down TD catch was ruled incomplete. Still a game.
FSU 17, Jacksonville State 7 9:49 4th
FSU gets a stop. Has a chance to maybe ice the game.
Milton then throws a pick and Jax State returns it to the FSU 32.
FSU gets a stop. Two holds killed Jax State, one on Jermaine Johnson that erased a 25-yard throw. FSU has the ball now first down at its own 20 after the Ward first-down run as we move to the fourth quarter.
FSU 17, Jacksonville State 7 15:00 4th
Seminoles have another drive going and then get derailed again. Another illegal man downfield. Two more drops - including one by Wilson on what would have been a first down. Fitzgerald delivers a 53-yard FG though to make it 17-7.
FSU 17, Jacksonville State 7 4:20 3rd
FSU gets a three and out on the first series of the second half. Jermaine Johnson with a nice play on a QB keeper.
Looked like the FSU offense was about to march right down the field and take control of the game, but a chop block on Gibbons and then a hold on another play completely derailed the drive. FSU has just been sloppy and mostly mediocre all game on offense.
Mastromanno just boomed a 65-yard punt down to the Jax State 1. It was a great punt and a great job by Deloach to get down there and downed it.
FSU 14, Jacksonville State 7 10:07 3rd
Halftime Stats and participation:
Obviously the official participation report is missing a couple FSU OLs
Both teams exchange punts, then FSU gets another stop and Helton busts a nice return to the FSU 45. Milton and Corbin lead the Seminoles down inside the 5 and then Milton finds Wyatt Rector on a 2-yard TD pass.
FSU 14, Jacksonville State 7 :09 2nd
A 15-yard facemask helped the drive get started. Milton had a couple of completions on the sideline. Ward ran for a first down. And then Corbin scores from 12 yards out and we're tied with 5 minutes left in the first half.
Jacksonville State 7, FSU 7 5:01 2nd
Jax State was driving again, inside the FSU 30, but McClendon makes a big play to cause a fumble and Sidney Williams picks it up and returns it out to midfield. Potentially game-changing play. Which is sad to type against Jacksonville State, but it is what it is. Big play either way! Williams almost scored, but QB made a diving tackle.
Jacksonville State 7, FSU 0 6:31 2nd
FSU goes three and out again. Travis got that series. He handed it off on a read where it looked like he could've kept it. Then two incompletions. One on a terrible high throw over Parchment's head. This has not been a well-coached game so far. All the QB tricky stuff has backfired in a big way. And Jax State is controlling the line of scrimmage.
Jacksonville State 7, FSU 0 10:27 2nd
Jax State goes on the old 15-play, 79-yard drive to take the lead. Took over six minutes off the game clock. Dotson gave up a third down and nine catch over the middle. FSU had no rush to speak of. And they also ran the ball well enough. Gross start so far on both sides of the ball.
Jacksonville State 7, FSU 0 11:08 2nd
FSU went three and out on third series. Had a 3rd and 2 and Toafili got tackled three yards deep in the backfield. He tripped really.
Jacksonville State 0, FSU 0 14:40 2nd
FSU was sloppy on second series. Got one first down on a nice throw to McLain for about 13. But Jordan Travis came into the game and played RB and QB, Milton even played RB on one play, they were in the backfield together for three or four snaps, but it didn't materialize into any points. A hold derailed the drive. A dropped snap by Milton almost gave Jax State the ball deep in FSU territory. McDonald made a nice recovery to avoid that turnover.
FSU's defense gave up one first down but otherwise did a nice job against Jax State. Jermaine Johnson and Robert Cooper were held on back to back plays. FSU will get the ball at its own 29 to start this drive.
FSU 0, Jacksonville State 0 4:27 1st
FSU wins the toss. Elects to receive. Gets past midfield on some nice runs and a couple of short throws. Then McClain and Helton both have bad drops on great passes by Milton. Helton's was by far the worst. He was wide open. Would have been a walk-in TD, but he dropped it.
FSU defense gets a three and out to start the game. Williams with a great hit on a sideline pass.
Then Travis Jay elects to let the ball land at the 5. It gets downed at the 3. So FSU backed up deep in its own territory to start this next drive.
FSU 0, Jacksonville State 0 10:55 1st

PREGAME
7:48 -- It's official. Milton is the starting QB tonight. Got a really loud ovation. As you can imagine.
7:40 -- Definitely looks like McKenzie is starting tonight. He took the first snaps with the first-team offense during pregame warmups. Jordan Travis goes second.
7:36 -- Not seeing Pokey Wilson in warmups unless we're missing him. ... Based on warmups, I (Ira) would not be surprised at all if KZ starts tonight. There are some indications that will be the case. But can't say for sure.
7:23 -- Center Maurice Smith not dressed out. Expect Baveon at center. ... Looks like kickoff is at 8:10 p.m.
7:15 -- It's raining pretty good, but FSU's players have come back out onto the field for warmups.
6:50 -- We're in a lightning delay at the stadium. Warmups being delayed.
6:35 p.m. -- Looks like DJ Williams is with the running backs tonight. Don't see Deonte Sheffield yet, but that doesn't mean he can't come out later.
6:05 p.m.-- FSU's QBs are the first ones on the field for pregame warmups -- Travis, Milton, Rodemaker, Purdy and English.

Good evening! We're here at Doak for tonight's 8 p.m. ET game between the Seminoles and Jacksonville State.
It's a nice day for football ... not too hot right now and should get down to the high 70s in the first half.
We'll post some pregame updates when the players come out for warmups.
