2015 Braves Thread

I just want to know - when can we have Ted Turner back, and get them back on TBS?

Shelby Miller loses a no hitter with two outs in the ninth finishing with a two hit shutout. The Braves sweep the Marlins in Miami for the second time this season.

I like Heyward, but hated the Cards giving up Miller. The Braves have a good one in him. I heard on the radio that the Cards sent a memo to him to keep up the good work and to keep his head up after losing the no-no. Class move by the Cards.

Simmons has one of the best arms in the game. Has made some unbelievable throws this year.

Braves working on deal with Dodgers to get rid of Callaspo for yet another Tommy John pitcher.

If the trade is as reported: Callaspo, Stults, Thomas, and Jaime for Uribe and Whitrow, Braves win big. 4 players with almost no value for a patented Braves' TJ rebound who can throw mid to upper 90s and may be a future closer and a solid defensive 3rd baseman who normally hits for average (although down this year). Plus, allows to move CJ and free up some money.

Great comeback win over the Giants.
Split with the defending champs.
Jace Peterson bases loaded specialist!

The pen gave up another one today. You'd think getting all those arms in all those trades, Hart would've been able to assemble a half way decent bullpen.

So the ump allows Cole to throw at us but tosses Wood for bitching about the strike zone between innings?
Umpires need to get over themselves.
Our bullpen sucks anyway so might as well hit somebody.

Are they just not willing to go after help for the bullpen?
I know all the experts wrote this years team off but without all these blown leads they would be in first place.

They are going to cut more payroll before the trade deadline. I think you will see Chris Johnson traded. Might also see Grilli go somewhere at deadline as well as Mike Minor if he gets healthy.

Nice sweep of the Mets this weekend. .500 is really more than I expected from this team.
I agree. They are definitely over achieving so far. To think about the production from Peterson, Maybin and Perzynski compared to those positions last year.
I would assume the Nats will go on a huge win streak at some point but not a bad first half. Still think they go 70-91.

I don't know about 70-91. That would mean they would finish 35-56 for the season. I think they can do better than that.

I'd take that this year.
Totally. With the way the Mets & Nats have greatly under achieved that may get us 2nd in division.

Our pitching will be stellar for years to come after all these moves. Kinda excited to see what hitters they can land for 2017. I know they will keep the payroll light again next year to make a run at a few long term contracts to open the new stadium.

Also looks like Freddie Freeman is headed to DL. That's fine with me. Don't want to develop something that plagues him forever.

I will gladly take where this team is. The offense can actually score runs and is not dependent on the long ball. Starting pitching is solid for the most part, just need Julio to figure out his road woes. The bullpen is the only blackhole, and maybe some of the young guys get called up for a cup of coffee and perform well there, plus a few injured players and suspended player will be back soon.

The future looks very bright if we can get some more position players. Nice article from Peter Gammons.

No one could've been happier with the Braves overhaul than Strasburg. Atlanta owned him the last few years. Even when he was lights out against the rest of the league. Last night Simmons was the only person in the lineup that dominated him.

Nats have won 7 in a row while Braves have lost 5 in a row. Figured this would happen. Went from 2 out to 6.5 out in a week.
