2015 Braves Thread

This season might be one the most frustrating ever as a fan. With a few pieces we could have easily won the east. The Nats are way underachieving this year. Really must not care about winning currently. More so about freeing up salary to put a real contender on field for 2017. Thing I don't get is if they finish the season at this awful pace and start the next year the same way they will lose a lot of fans. I've always been a Braves fan so I'm not going anywhere but the excitement of a new ballpark will only go so far if they spend the next year and a half tanking.

Miller should ask to be traded to a contender, which is many teams compared to the Braves. His talent is being wasted here.

With Simmons out and Freeman on DL it's weird to watch the Braves. It's almost a AAA team now.

Not sure I get the trade. Unless they are free agents after the end of this season or next I am not sure why you just don't release Johnson.

Johnson was guaranteed money until after 2017. Bourn and Swisher are guaranteed until after 2016, I believe, but if they reach certain at-bat numbers, the options for 2017, are guaranteed. It's a weird trade and has some complicated numbers.

Bourne is backup in the event the Braves get a mega-offer for Maybin. Plus, the cash is reportedly $10 mil, so this is, in essence, a wash for both teams. If any of the players actually play well, it's a bonus.

Also noticed we would have to pay Johnson in 2017 and maybe 2018 if we kept him.
He must be a jerk in the clubhouse or something bc no one wanted him.

The Braves have scored 9, 6 and 7 runs in the first three games against the Marlins this series. Watch them go out and put up a single run (maybe) with Shelby Miller on the mound today.

You totally called it.

The Braves loss in Tampa was not at all surprising considering their recent performance on the road. In fact, they had a lot of company given every road team lost last night. That was a first in MLB history.

So now the Braves sign 31 year old Edwin Jackson who was released earlier by the Cubs? Only thing I can figure is Hart got tired of listening to the fans complain and knew he needed to do something. Not sure this helps anything.

It does make some sense, Jackson will likely throw out of the bullpen like he was for the Cubs, where he had success. And then in Spring, compete with Folty for the 5th spot, loser goes to long relief. Also, paying him peanuts.

I can see that. But every move Hart has made to the last couple of trades made the team younger. Signing a 31 year old journeyman pitcher is contrary to that strategy.

Same as trading a young, 24 year old LHP and 21 year old SS for a 30 year old 3B.

Braves finally won one. They are nearing in on worst record in the majors territory. Thinking I may go up this fall for a September game. Might be able to get field level for under $20 lol.

It's really hard to keep up with this team. They are almost the definition of the "Who's on first" gag. They're a shell of who they were, and a bunch of names no one knows about, and don't play good baseball on top of that. I'm born and raised in Atlanta and a life-long fan, but wow - I don't know who these guys are and they're not very good.

Braves pitching is silly bad.
I feel bad for Fredi Gonzales at this point. Not like he can do anything. He just has terrible players. Kinda feel like they are the Cleveland Indians in major league.
