I know this has been discussed numerous times here before, but I can't find the previous threads. I Rented a car for the National Championship game a couple of years ago, from a kind of obscure site someone suggested here. It was way cheaper than any other site. What sites do you frequent travellers use? Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Was it the one where you're actually renting somebody's car while they're gone and it's managed by a company? I've done it before, definitely cheaper and it was as easy as a normal rental car, can't remember the name of the company though

It wasn't from an individual, it was through a company. It actually was a Budget Rental, but the booking company was cheaper than anyone else

If you're just renting a car once, it doesn't matter which company you use...just go with the cheapest.

Unless you're going to rent a car a LOT, loyalty programs and such aren't worth your while.

That said, I'm with National b/c I can bypass the check-in line at the counter and just grab any car off of the lot. That's a cool feature. I imagine others have that too, but I know plenty that don't b/c I frequently see long lines at the rental car counters when I land at the airport.

I used Costco rental. Pick up Tuesday and return at least Thursday next week. No Penalty for early returns!!!

Team National for the reasons Les outlined. Typically a newer, well maintained fleet and no wait.

I'm a Hertz guy. Mainly because we have a corporate rate but their customer service and cars are much better than most of the others. I enjoyed the National experience the few times I used them.

I don't rent, I simply buy a new car wherever I decide to travel. Well, not really, if you want to compare prices hit up Kayak.com for the rates, hotwire and others will sometimes have some specials on there.
