My brother. ( sound of popcorn popping)
Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties have closed their offices until Thursday. I've seen predictions for us from anywhere from 2.5" to 6". I hope it just snows enough for our grandkids to sled.Everyone in the western panhandle ready for the big whiteout?
Bread and milk and beans for the chili?
It was 23 with a wind chill of 17 here this morning. Still below freezing at almost 10am.Talked to my son in Atlanta this morning. He said it was 14, with a wind chill of 4.
I remember one night walking down Tennessee St. in the bitter cold, and there was a frozen cat in the gutter. That was the first time I'd ever experienced that kind of cold. Being a freshman, I won't even tell you what we decided to do with the poor thing.Honestly, how many of us remember walking across the FSU campus when there were mornings like this?! It’s January. It happens.
I understand just how that cat feels. Woke up a few a mornings on the side of Tennessee Street myself.I remember one night walking down Tennessee St. in the bitter cold, and there was a frozen cat in the gutter. According to Weather Underground, it should start here around 1:00 with a possibility of 5" of accumulation. We'll see.Who’s getting some of the white ❄️❄️ ??
Take it from me, if there's ice, DO NOT go driving anywhere!
Maybe not. If the the climate change science is accurate, won't weather like this become more common? The snow is about gone in all of the exposed areas. Still hanging around in the shade.
I know northern folks won't understand it, but damn, as a Florida kid, this was cool. I'm sorry to see it go. My grandkids made memories that will last a lifetime. These last few days will be talked about for years to come.
Depends on what you consider more common. That was the most snow in Florida since records have been kept. If records have been kept for 100 years, I really have no idea how long, then having a similar storm again in 90 years would qualify.Maybe not. If the the climate change science is accurate, won't weather like this become more common?
Saw snow like that once in my life, was living in northern Mississippi.... saw snow in Fla. once, it came down, but melted when it hit the ground, no snow on the ground, nothing like in your pictures.
