COVID booster shot

It's what we already knew. Vaccines are not super effective against preventing infection against Delta. They are great at preventing severe disease or death. Vaccines are very effective against Alpha because that's what they were designed for.
Well we aren’t seeing Alpha now so my logic tells me that the vaccine is not worth getting now.

There is some cross immunity against other variants hence why people that have the vaccine had a much lower change with Delta of serious illness or death in comparison to the unvaccinated and why it is worth getting.

I’m curious where to find those statistics, and whether they’re broken down by partially vaccinated, 2 shots and less than 14 days, 2 shots and more than 14 days, and 2 shots plus the booster. I can’t find it anywhere. I can find outlets making those claims or quoting someone making those claims, but nothing resembling actual, transparent data.

Everyone of those natural immunity is better than vaccines studies also had data on those with both were by far the most protected.

CDC had links to studies at one point but can't remember which page it was on. Iirc they said that one shot after infection significantly boosted immune response, and they only recommended one shot.

The news tonight said that as part of the data the FDA is reviewing regarding mixing boosters, those who received an initial dose of J&J and a Moderna booster saw a 76 fold increase in immune response. Impressive data.

Thank you. I'll look for it there again.

Not true. Natural immunity within 6 months of having covid was most protective, by far. Then natural immunity more than 6 months from having covid + booster with a slim edge over just nat'l immunity + 6 months from covid.

I’m not sure what you’re talking about with the six months. You aren’t even a candidate for the vaccine initially after infection. The studies show that getting a vaccine 3 to 6 months after infectio is by far the most effective way to prevent reinfection.

But I’m glad you agree that natural immunity plus vaccine is the best.

Not a candidate? They've been giving the jab to folks 1 month or more from their first negative print. Just natural immunity (within 6 months of covid infection) was many times stronger than those with the vaccine, natural immunity or not.

The Israeli study showed marginal advantages in getting a booster shot for those with natural immunity arising from an infection between March 2020 and December 31, 2020. I suspect the situation is fluid given the waning efficacy of the vaccines.

Tell Colin Powell’s widow how effective being fully vaccinated is.

Forgive me if I don’t believe half of what the news tells me.

If the vaccine was created for Alpha and we don’t see alpha now then what is the value of a vaccine that isn’t effective against the main type?
The vaccine is effective against all VOCs...

Stopping to listen is important instead of doing research on facebook. Myeloma is a cancer of the blood and affirmatively affects B cells in your blood, which are key to your immune system. So having a vaccine (of any kind) decreases your chance of infection and hospitalization much less than normal. Colin Powell died because selfish, self centered, uneducated, easily distracted and misled people refused to help protect him. Not because vaccines don't work.

Vaccinations are not 100%. That's basic knowledge. And no one has ever claimed any vaccination is 100% effective. So, sadly, some people may die despite taking the vaccine. But you can't lump that into one broad stroke and infer the vaccinations are useless because you may know someone who was vaccinated and died. Despite some people dying, millions of others will save their lives and decrease the side effects if taken the vaccine. Context; and not misleading broad strokes. As you should know, 95% of all deaths and hospitalizations are from the unvaccinated. You can argue and say whatever you want, but those are the stone cold facts. Don't believe in government..... Were you in Dealey Plaza when the shots rang out? Or did shots actually ring out?
Jack Ruby, FBI, CIA, Mofia, LBJ, Dallas Police, Secret Service, Castro, and the Zapruder umbrella was actually where the alleged shots came from. Conspiracy! :)

He was fully vaccinated. I feel that his cancer was truly his cause of death but the official word is it was covid so that is what we have to go with. Fully vaccinated didn’t stop the virus. Don’t push it when it doesn’t work.

You realize that not just one thing kills people usually right? Like people with AIDS that die often time die of infections not caused by the HIV virus itself. The HIV virus can lead to AIDS, which prevents the body from defending itself leading to other diseases or infections taking hold and then killing the person. While HIV did not actually cause the death itself, the HIV led to the body being unable to defend itself hence why AIDS will still be listed as a cause of death.

Similarly, Powell's cancer and Parkinson's disease greatly limited his body's ability to generate antibodies and white blood cells to fight infections. If your body isn't making antibodies then it isn't making antibodies and the vaccine isn't really helping much. Hence why the extremely ill and elderly should still be careful because their ability to make any antibody at all is already very limited.

LOL..............yea we should all run around like feral animals doing exactly what we want, when we want, to whom we want.
Grand Theft Auto but real life. Libertarian utopia. Speaking of which I've always loved this Libertarian police officer fiction:

I was shooting heroin and reading “The Fountainhead” in the front seat of my privately owned police cruiser when a call came in. I put a quarter in the radio to activate it. It was the chief.

“Bad news, detective. We got a situation.”

“What? Is the mayor trying to ban trans fats again?”

“Worse. Somebody just stole four hundred and forty-seven million dollars’ worth of bitcoins.”

The heroin needle practically fell out of my arm. “What kind of monster would do something like that? Bitcoins are the ultimate currency: virtual, anonymous, stateless. They represent true economic freedom, not subject to arbitrary manipulation by any government. Do we have any leads?”

“Not yet. But mark my words: we’re going to figure out who did this and we’re going to take them down … provided someone pays us a fair market rate to do so.”

“Easy, chief,” I said. “Any rate the market offers is, by definition, fair.”

He laughed. “That’s why you’re the best I got, Lisowski. Now you get out there and find those bitcoins.”

“Don’t worry,” I said. “I’m on it.”

I put a quarter in the siren. Ten minutes later, I was on the scene. It was a normal office building, strangled on all sides by public sidewalks. I hopped over them and went inside.

“Home Depot™ Presents the Police!®” I said, flashing my badge and my gun and a small picture of Ron Paul. “Nobody move unless you want to!” They didn’t.

“Now, which one of you punks is going to pay me to investigate this crime?” No one spoke up.

“Come on,” I said. “Don’t you all understand that the protection of private property is the foundation of all personal liberty?”

It didn’t seem like they did.

“Seriously, guys. Without a strong economic motivator, I’m just going to stand here and not solve this case. Cash is fine, but I prefer being paid in gold bullion or autographed Penn Jillette posters.”

VIDEO FROM THE NEW YORKER
Surviving the Horror of Residential Schools by Skateboarding

Nothing. These people were stonewalling me. It almost seemed like they didn’t care that a fortune in computer money invented to buy drugs was missing.

I figured I could wait them out. I lit several cigarettes indoors. A pregnant lady coughed, and I told her that secondhand smoke is a myth. Just then, a man in glasses made a break for it.

“Subway™ Eat Fresh and Freeze, Scumbag!®” I yelled.

Too late. He was already out the front door. I went after him.

“Stop right there!” I yelled as I ran. He was faster than me because I always try to avoid stepping on public sidewalks. Our country needs a private-sidewalk voucher system, but, thanks to the incestuous interplay between our corrupt federal government and the public-sidewalk lobby, it will never happen.

I was losing him. “Listen, I’ll pay you to stop!” I yelled. “What would you consider an appropriate price point for stopping? I’ll offer you a thirteenth of an ounce of gold and a gently worn ‘Bob Barr ‘08’ extra-large long-sleeved men’s T-shirt!”

He turned. In his hand was a revolver that the Constitution said he had every right to own. He fired at me and missed. I pulled my own gun, put a quarter in it, and fired back. The bullet lodged in a U.S.P.S. mailbox less than a foot from his head. I shot the mailbox again, on purpose.

“All right, all right!” the man yelled, throwing down his weapon. “I give up, cop! I confess: I took the bitcoins.”

“Why’d you do it?” I asked, as I slapped a pair of Oikos™ Greek Yogurt Presents Handcuffs® on the guy.

“Because I was afraid.”

“Afraid?”

“Afraid of an economic future free from the pernicious meddling of central bankers,” he said. “I’m a central banker.”

I wanted to coldcock the guy. Years ago, a central banker killed my partner. Instead, I shook my head.

“Let this be a message to all your central-banker friends out on the street,” I said. “No matter how many bitcoins you steal, you’ll never take away the dream of an open society based on the principles of personal and economic freedom.”

He nodded, because he knew I was right. Then he swiped his credit card to pay me for arresting him.

It would be wonderful if it was science used instead of agendas of control.

Everybody is an "expert" and have "done their research." So many insecure well meaning people (including some doctors and many unhinged pastors) HAVE to believe in anti-government conspiracies; others have authority issues and simply will not be told what to do. Others have to be the smartest guy in the room and insist on winning the argument and NEED to outfox the virus. And then you have ignorance, emotional immaturity, indifference, the need for attention, and the need to be "different." Mistrust of government "tyranny" and misplaced distorted beliefs as this is the Mark of the Beast; my "favorite" excuse. And so many people love and NEED to argue. The argument itself meets many other unconscious needs for others. Common sense is no longer common.
You have to give it to them with the mark of the beast thing. Its the best one yet.

He was 84, had blood cancer and Parkinson’s.
Want to pull all of the “covid deaths” out where the person was 84 or older, had Parkinson’s, cancer, diabetes or an intentional/unintentional poisoning/accident? I’d be happy with that and not including Powell’s under either covid or vaxxed death.
Otherwise. It’s a covid death of a fully vaccinated individual.

Well, no one is arguing whether or not it was a COVID death of a fully inoculated individual. It was a COVID death and it was a death of someone who was fully inoculated. But let's not play naive to the point at hand - some posters are trying to suggest something that isn't accurate, and should be called out.

Right. Like a substantial portion of the covid death count. I prefer we not play naive to either side of it, and stated so in my post. Fine to minimize the impact of the vax on Powell, but it's not a different situation than a material portion of the covid death count. This could easily be a vaccine death, if given similar loose standards to qualify as a covid death.
