We haven't gotten each other gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, etc. for years. For us, it works the opposite way. If we get a gift for the other you might be in trouble.
That's us as well. I dont dare buy flowers either.

Never took trig of calculus; once Algebra 2 was done, I was done with math. Somehow, my high school grades were good enough to exempt me from math courses at the collegiate level, and after looking at my son's high school calculus textbook, I'm grateful.

I had no choice and was forced to take pre-cal as a senior. Much wailing and gnashing of teeth and getting out of there with a 70.
And I have NEVER needed to use it since.

I am a nerd. I took Calculus as an elective in college. I love math and science.

My calculus teacher my senior yr in High school told me she'd give me a C for the semester if I dropped the course for the 2nd semester. (I was not a good student)
She then asked "what do you want to do with your life?" I said I wanted to be a Dr....she said "you need to pick something easier"

(She was 100% correct as I was a goof off in High school...I used that to motivate me once I got to FSU)

Or Google a handy how to video on the subject. Everything from turning off that overly complicated water filter light on the fridge to turning new chair legs on a lathe.
I learned that my two year old washing machine can be stopped from trying to click on/off if I just unplug it, allow it to sit for twenty minutes and let all that smart computer stuff just reset.
AI will get us all under its control eventually. 🤖

Meanwhile, our 30 year old Kenmore washer and dryer continue to work just like they are supposed to work. I think I replaced the drum belt in the dryer once about 10 years ago.

I started taking advanced math courses in the 6th grade.

I did the same. I preferred math and science courses as electives because there was very little subjective material. Right or wrong.

I just took a old Maytag set to the dump we bought (used) when we first got married. The only thing I ever did was change the belt ad heating element in the dryer once and the counter weight in the washing machine because the movers broke it. Both were well over 30 years old.

I can actually read and follow directions to put stuff together, change a water filter, fix things on my phone or laptop or anything else with directions. But sometimes it is just better to let someone else do it.

A few weekends ago we put together our Blackstone smoker....that would have been much better to pay someone else to do!
