The No. 7 Florida State beach volleyball team opened the Stetson Beach Blast sweeping two top-20 teams. The Seminoles defeated No. 14 Florida Atlantic and No. 16 Stetson 5-0 to advance to 16-3 in 2025.
The Seminoles began the weekend sweeping the 14th-ranked Owls. FSU won four of five courts in straight sets. On court three, Carra Sassack and Bailey Higgins gained the advantage before Florida Atlantic forced a third set by winning set two by a slim 22-20 margin. Sassack and Higgins bounced back and dominated the third set, winning 15-5 and securing the point for the Noles.
Florida State then defeated #16 Stetson to secure their ninth ranked victory of the season. Higgins and Sassack opened the duel with a point for the Noles on court three, defeating the pair of Youna Coens and Grace Goudy in straight sets. Alexis Durish and Audrey Koenig then won court one. This victory marks Durish’s 75 career victory. Makenna Wolfe and Myriah Massey won court four in two sets to secure the victory for the Seminoles. The pairs of Gella Andrew and Maddie Trusty as well as Jordan Boulware and Kenzie Hultquist engaged in three-set battles on courts two and five respectively, in which they both won to secure the sweep for the Noles.
The Seminoles will be back in action on Saturday morning to play Erskine at 9:15 a.m. before closing the weekend against Palm Beach Atlantic at 12:45 p.m. Live stats will be available on Seminoles.com.
