Warchant TV: Jimbo Fisher wraps things up in his post-practice interview.

POST-PRACTICE UPDATE

FSU practiced for just over two hours inside Doak. Fisher said he thought it was a solid day. Not super, but solid.

One thing he liked was the board drills. Saw guys using their hands better and finishing plays.

Fisher praised Travis Rudolph, Bobo Wilson and Kermit Whitfield for the way they've been playing. Young WRs have been impressive, but he really is happy with the veterans and the urgency they're practicing with.

Fisher said Josh Sweat actually practiced yesterday too. And he has been very impressed with Josh's power for his size. He said he's actually about 238 pounds even though he looks thin. They're still taking things slow, but he hasn't shown any hesitancy from his knee injury. Jimbo said he wouldn't rule out Sweat playing first few games. Called him "freaky" ... just need to make sure he doesn't have setbacks.

Fisher thought Sean Maguire had a nice day. He was pleased with Maguire and Everett Golson with the way they handled blitz packages today.

When asked about Corey Martinez starting at center today, Fisher said his quickness has been big and he's getting more physical. He's very happy with Martinez' development.

Sh'Mar Kilby-Lane's apparently dealing with a little shoulder injury. And Chris Casher twisted his knee in board drills. Not sure if it was serious.

Tarvarus McFadden had a pulled hamstring, which is why he didn't practice. Doesn't seem real serious.

FSU's first day of full pads will be tomorrow, followed by the first two-a-day on Tuesday.

That's it for now. Will have more coverage coming tonight and through tomorrow.

LIVE PRACTICE UPDATES

With FSU holding an open practice inside Doak Campbell Stadium today at 4:30, we will be posting live updates and observations right here throughout the session. We also will follow up with comments from Jimbo afterward.

We were allowed on the field for the first 40 minutes or so, so couldn't update from there. Sorry about that. Updates coming now (5:20 p.m.)

The team opened up with a bunch of special-teams drills, primarily kickoff return and kick coverage. The first-team KRs were Kermit Whitfield and Jalen Ramsey. Second team was Travis Rudolph and Bobo Wilson. Third team were Mario Pender and George Campbell.

Injury-wise, DT Justin Shanks (right foot in boot) and DB Marcus Lewis (right knee brace) were held out. They're rehabbing. On the positive front, QB Deondre Francois practiced for the first time and was out of the boot.

CB Tarvarus McFadden was not practicing. Not sure what's up with him. Lorenzo Phillips also not practicing.

The starting OL today was Rod Johnson, Kareem Are, Corey Martinez, Wilson Bell and Derrick Kelly. Mavety was second-team right tackle. Also notable: Alec Eberle was second-team center and Cole Minshew was third-team center. He has been working there, and he is one huge center.

We got to see some good board drills ... some guys that looked good were Reggie Northrup, Terrell Lyons, Alec Eberle and Rod Johnson. There were others I'm sure but the team was crowded around so it was kinda hard to see.

They're starting the passing drills now. Will have more shortly.

5:50 p.m. -- In 1-on-1 passing drills, here are some guys who had nice plays: George Campbell, Travis Rudolph, Nyqwan Murray, Da'Vante Phillips, Jalen Ramsey, Marquez White.

In team passing drills, Golson clearly has a good arm but is still getting a feeling for the offense, etc.

Ryan Izzo is very impressive at tight end.

Derwin James got a little bit of run at safety with the first-team defense, spelling Nate Andrews.

6:00 p.m. -- Sh'Mar Kilby-Lane also isn't practicing. Missed that earlier.

George Campbell had a beautiful leaping catch in the end one on a deep ball from Maguire.

Jonathan Vickers had some very nice runs during the inside run drills. Against the second and third-team defense.

Sean Maguire has been mostly good with a few off-the-mark throws.

Marquez White has made some very athletic plays on the ball.

6:15 p.m. -- Ernie Sims is here watching practice.

Josh Sweat is getting a ton of work for a guy who is limited. I doubt he is in full pads when the team goes in full pads for the first time tomorrow, but I don't think he's real far away.

Travis Rudolph, Bobo Wilson, Nyqwan Murray and Marquez White got turns on punt returns.

6:25 p.m. -- Ja'Vonn Harrison had some chances to make some great plays, but had a tough time finishing. Think that has been the story of his time here. Needs to be consistent.

Several people have made comments about how nice the field looks. Word is they have a new groundskeeper.

They're hitting a lot of check-downs to the backs during 7-on-7. Pender and Patrick have looked good catching passes in the flats.

Didn't see all of the pass-rushing drills, but Jacob Pugh, Derrick Nnadi and Josh Sweat had some nice rushes.

6:35 p.m. -- In 11-on-11, Maguire hit a nice deep out to Travis Rudolph.

Deondre Francois shut it down about midway through practice.

DeMarcus Walker has been a force on 11-on-11 passing, getting into the backfield

George Campbell had another deep completion against the second-team defense.

Then JJ Cosentino hit Kermit Whitfield on a nice crossing route.against the 2s.

Golson had a really nice throw over the middle to Mavin Saunders.

That session ended with Golson eluding a rush and making a nice dumpoff to Bobo Wilson for a nice gain.

All right ... heading down to the field for Jimbo's interview. Will have more up soon.
