Well I still cherish the memory. Sue me.But (no pun intended, well maybe a little) it is part of my job and I just put my gloves on, perform the task, and erase it from my memory once I walk out of the exam room.
What do you think of this newer Prostate Health Index test?Your PSA does not have to be above 4.0 for cancer. If it doubles in 1 year, even under 4.0 can indicate a problem. While the digital exam doesn't always find a mass, the labs don't always indicate cancer. That is why you do both.
The likelihood that you have prostate cancer at 40 is slim, even if there is a family history. My first exam as a student, I felt a module and his PSA was normal (Less than 4.0). He had cancer. Again, that is a rare incident, but it does happen.
