if there was ever any doubt that this buffoons ultimate intentions aren’t to advance his sons careers but to make himself famous he’s removed all doubt the last few weeks. First, he removes the middle son, who’s a middling prospect, from UCLA and the youngest son, who’s 16y/o, from high school to go play in a second tier Lithuanian league. And now yesterday he opens his mouth to bury the current Lakers head coach and basically say all the team needs is LeBron and his son to win championships. I didn’t mind this guy before when he seemed to just be a dummy who wanted to build up his sons, but now that it’s clear he’s just using his sons to build his own stupid brand he’s becoming completely insufferable while simultaneously torpedoing his sons basketball careers. It’s crazy and ESPN can’t get enough.

Your last sentence is the key. On most days, you can find at least one story on ESPN's front page about this character, which I assume means they're getting a lot of clicks from somewhere. Must be from the same crowd that follows the Kardasians' every move.

I'm not following the Kardasians' every move. I'm shadowing what's his name -- Harvey Weinstein, trying to pick up tips on being a hit with the ladies.

How did the world get to this place? Giving a mouthpiece to this guy is ridiculous. People are more concerned with some weirdo celebrity stuff than whether the kids in the neighborhood grow up with what they need.

Poor Jeff Goodman gets sent to follow him around. He should just quit and circus and come home. Hopefully Ball loses his visa and can’t come back to United States.

Rick Carlisle ripped into ESPN for publishing those comments. Carlisle is the head of the NBA coaches association and said the ESPN and the NBA are partners and should have protected Walton better.

It'll be interesting if the coaches cut back ESPN's access to them.

Dick Vitale ripped into ESPN for their coverage of him. There was never a doubt in my mind and LaVar was always about LaVar.

Several NBA coaches have asked their teams to revoke the credentials of reporters that interview him.

Not sure it's the answer to your question, but it's getting closer to the end result. Exhibit A:

Magic drafting this kid will go down as his biggest failure. And I don't mean that the kid can't play. It's the baggage(Dad) that comes with him.

He obviously puts on for the camera. He knows what to say to get attention. I don't see how people can't pick up on that. You really think this dude thinks he can beat Jordan c'mon. It's marketing and its entertainment nothing more.

I don't think he will necessarily be the guy to change the game .However ,he is unconventional and he is trying something different so of course his ideas are going to be low rated by the industry.

You're probably the first person who's ever even marginally taken up for Lavar Ball, anywhere.

I’ve run into him a few times at the hotel bar on-campus. His off-camera demeanor is very different. I have only ever observed his being kind and gracious with the service staff and the people who come up to him to say Hi.

I've got zero problem with someone trying to circumvent the system if possible if it's better for the athletes. Go for it.

But I have no idea why he continues to get coverage. It's the ultimate "if you ignore him it goes away" situation. Nobody would ever have to hear another word about this guy if they stopped giving him attention. I'm amazed that the metrics must show that people care, click, view, whatever.

I pay very little attention to celebrity/trash culture type stuff, and only slightly more attention to what's going on in sports in general, and it amazes me that I know his name and seem to have a rough idea of all times what he's up to. The amount of media attention this guy gets must be incredible for it to be breaking through my awareness firewall.
