The past two months have been a whirlwind and I want to thank you for your patience as we sorted out the Rivals acquisition by On3, how it would impact you, and how it would impact The Osceola. Plus, On3 has had their own fish to fry with the acquisition, so they needed for me to wait until today to make any announcement. By the way, while one could say The Osceola got "squeezed out" in this merger, I thought their decision to consolidate the Rivals and On3 sites was a good business decision and I commend On3 President Will Crall for his professionalism and responsiveness.
I've had a lot of soul searching to do about what The Osceola's options would be. I knew I did not want to shutter The Osceola, a 40-plus-year tradition that's been a huge part of my life. That part was clear. But I also know the financial reality of re-imaging a website and particluraly of re-building a circulation. I'm humbled by the number of readers who called to encourage me to press on, which certainly validated what I wanted to hear. and influenced the design of the next iteration of TheOsceola.com., which I describe as more "boutique" -- leaning into what I think our strengths are -- and maybe complementary to this and other sites.
Thank you and what's next for Osceola
