FSU outfielder Max Williams took a pitch off his left hand in Wednesday's game at JU. We asked Link Jarrett this morning about Williams' injury and prognosis. Nothing definitive but sounds encouraging.
"He's ok. They're evaluating him right now. I think he actually took it off the top hand (left hand)," Jarrett said.
"In terms of the conversation about the left-handed pitching, you have to hang in there. And I think that's the case. And that's happened to him a couple times where he's really hanging in there and makes late decisions and hangs in there on that breaking ball pretty well against the lefties. And sometimes that fastball, when people hang in there and cover away and cover that slider, I think sometimes they try to throw balls in. And that that got him.
"But it sounded like there was no serious injury. And now it's just a comfort thing. It was unusual that it actually got his top hand. We have to just see comfort in holding the bat, swinging the bat and throwing."
Jarrett also had some good thoughts on BJ Gibson, who went 2 for 4 with a double in his most extensive playing time at FSU so far. I'll write a story this afternoon about Williams, Gibson and some of FSU's outfield options ahead of the three-game series with Georgetown that begins on Friday at 5 p.m.
Curt will also have a story later today that you'll enjoy as he's compiled some 1-on-1 interviews.
