Question for my African American Seminole brothers

Tribal Council is like an asylum where all the crazies are unrelated, don't know each other and fight with extreme vitriol and hate at those who disagree.

Locker Room is like a family of crazies who disagree, fight constantly, and make fun of each other but somehow everyone has a good time and there isn't a lot of hatred.

I have a problem with the OP title. The use of “my” implies possession of things following...js

I don't think it matters as much as people think. Look at Deion and Odell and their love for Mickey Andrews. Look at Warrick Dunn and his love for Bobby Bowden. People look up to people they trust, admire, and come to love being around them. Look at all our players that love and will forever be loyal to Odell Haggins. It's the heart and soul in people, not the color of their skin.

That was beautiful man.

7 of the 8 coaching hires Willie Taggart has made at #FSU are black. @Foxworth24 introduces you to his new favorite college football team, the Seminoles. pic.twitter.com/RTTi4NAbEA

The only colors I care about are Garnet and Gold. If these men work hard to represent our colors, are loyal and do well, then I welcome them, appreciate them and they are my brothers.

I find it interesting that so many are focused on the race of our new staff, while players have been a majority black for years.

For those like the Twitter dude that want to call us the blackest team, and considering MLK day is Monday, my reply is:

"You know I'm proud to be black y'all
And that's a fact y'all
And if you try to take what's mine
I take it back y'all - it's like that"

Gonolz!

The probability of a black head coach winning a title is much, much lower than that of a white head coach because there are far less black head coaches. That’s the point, which you’ve proven, apparently unwittingly.

Agreed. I used to say the same thing about heavyweight boxers and people thought I was crazy. Then the fighters from the former Soviet nations started participating and that thing that would never happen, happened.

I can't answer the OP's question because I'm not black. I'm 58 at the end of this month....never went to a segregated school, nearly half my classmates and more than half my teammates, were black. My head coaches were black.

It didn't matter to me. I don't think it's going to matter as much to these young men as some of us think it will.

I believe most people think most people think just like they do. They don't. Study Willie Taggart's history a little and you'll see what I mean.

If someone woulda mentioned the sous vide panda from the start, I coulda abandoned my truth and justice crusade and saved a bunch of time and energy, plus the good eatin’
Thx
What’s up?
And, I just wanna express that “thread dump” has a nice, err, sound to it.
Willie Taggart for the wins!!!!

Kinda puzzling that this thread about whether or not the new coaching staff gives FSU any recruiting benefits with AA players was moved to LR under the reasoning that “it’s not primarily about FSU sports”, and yet the 40 Years Ago Today serial killer thread chugs along on TC without any “doesn’t belong here” pushback. What position did Ted Bundy play?

Two things.
1. Questioning moderation will get you nowhere. Stop it.
2. The first moderation action came from Gene when he locked the thread.

Can someone TL;DR this thread for me? Seems provocative.
Don't tell me the whole thing is about sous vide recipes.

It’s basically about to what extent do WCers (and especially AA WCers since they’d have the most real-world experience and insights here rather than just speculation) think that WT’s mostly black coaching staff will help with recruiting black prospects. Does it give FSU any potential advantage at all and if so in what ways and to what degree?

Unfortunately, even though 90% of the discussion in the thread was respectful, civil, intelligent, mature, insightful, interesting, relevant to FSU football and college athletics in general, and assorted other good adjectives, it got locked due to some mod’s (apparently Gene’s) concerns about the racial component, maybe because other race-related threads crashed and burned.

Then it was unlocked after various participants appealed, but moved to LR, where the engagement fell off dramatically, and the ratio of on-topic/serious discussion to humorous drive by comments dipped, as you’d expect.

That about sums it up, but if the topic interests you, there’s a lot of great input in there, especially from AA Noles.

Ya gotta believe that some kids and their parents will "listen up" when Coach Taggert calls, more so than when a guy like Jimbo Fisher makes the same call. Besides being an AA coach, Willie T. is younger, more likely have roots in the same group of schools these kids played in, and has shown that he has the ability to turn programs around, recognize talent, and put together a group of coaches willing/able to forge ties with the kids and their parents. WT has that big ole smile and fun attitude that Fisher never had/will have.
If his teams start out winning and can put players in the league, his ceiling is out the roof... FSU already seems like a more fun place to play than in recent years.
Contrast this with the undeniable number of kids in the league who played under Jimbo. Time will tell.
