Tampa Bay BUCS

Gronk is about 280. Getting him is almost like getting another lineman, especially in the run game.
Saw Gronk at the FSU/Miami basketball game two months ago, and he is nowhere near 280 anymore. Unless he's gaining it back really fast.

Jameis had as much time as any NFL quarterback gets. Bucs oline considered in top half of the league at pass blocking, Saying otherwise is done to give Jameis excuses. Just like gators excused every bad pass Tebow threw.
I didn’t say they were worst in the league but being ranked 23rd in sacks given up and having no run game is not a good thing .... specially when you take into account their D was awful.

through the years Brady has had GReAT offensive lines .... something will need to change for him to survive In Tampa is all I’m saying.

Bucs D overall wasn't awful. They were #15 in Total D, and actually #1 against the run. That is not awful. And their Passing D gave up a lot of yards (and a lot of PLAYS), but Pass Efficiency D was not bad.

You said he was running for his life which is inaccurate. Brady is much quicker to get rid of the football and better at moving within the pocket then Jameis. Also Brady has never had the weapons in the pass game he will have in Tampa this year. Yeah, no one is good as Moss but they have 4 elite pass catchers now. Probably the best receiving corp in the league. I think he will do fine. By the way, Arian's is considered on of the best offensive minds in football. Especially in regards to the passing game. In my opinion a lot of the negativity is sour grapes.

Pass defense was pretty good the last several games of the year. Lots of reasons to be optimistic if you are a Tampa fan. I just hope they play. Brady is not getting any younger.

Buc's fans think they are getting 2015 Gronk......LOL
Gronk has had 4 back surgeries and 1 knee reconstruction. Pretty impressive for a 30 year old, even a NFLer. Belichick had him traded in 2018 to Detroit, but he threatened to retire rather than accept the trade. In that year, he played sparingly in the regular season to protect him for the playoffs. Don't think he has put in a full season in 4-5 years. Non Patriots fans see his playoff heroics and don't realize how hobbled he was the last couple years for the Patriots. Belichick attempting to getting rid of him after the 2017 season is all you need to know, since he is the master of unsentimental shedding of players at the end of their useful NFL life.

Bruce scheme and Bills scheme are very different. What we all have watched with the bucs won’t be able to stay the same. BA is known for airing it out a lot. That takes time in the pocket. To act like an old Brady is just going to be shifty and quick moving in the pocket is simply not reality anymore in my opinion. Yes he will have plenty of weapons although OJ Howard still to me hasn’t shown to be dominant .... I would take Brate currently there. Gronk hasn’t been healthy in years and hasn’t played. Also no ground game

Yes I get it sounds like sour grapes but it is also some reality.

Yes you're right. I was referring to the passing yards allowed (edited), but they were actually pretty decent in regards to pass efficiency D.

Also, people want to ignore the fact that a lot of the poor defensive numbers and scoring numbers against the Bucs are a result of all the extra possessions and field position caused by Jameis turnovers.

Am I missing something or was Tampa not 29th in total D last year??

What you are missing is the opinion of a lot people including experts in the media that the Bucs defense was getting much stronger as the year went on. I think everyone who watched the games had the same opinion. If I remember right the oldest player in the secondary last year was 23 years old. They were actually playing very well the latter part of the year. The front 7 played great all year. Number 1 against the run and close to the top of the league in sacks. Remember they had 37 turnovers from the quarterback position to contend with.

Been a Bucs fan for decades but these recent moves are embarrassing. We haven't had a good draft in years. Now we get a head coach past his prime, a QB past his prime, and a TE past his prime. What exactly is the long term plan here?!? I know this is Florida, but the Bucs have become the NFL's retirement plan.

Don’t bring those objective facts into this.

These dudes will literally excuse ANYTHING for Jameis Winston bc he was the QB of our best team. Groping an Uber driver after a rape accusation? Not a big deal. Turning the ball over non stop in every single season of his career except 2013? It’s the OL or WRs fault.

I agree they got much better towards the end of the year. It will be interesting to see because I just don’t see Brady as elite anymore (not that Winston was lol) and for now I don’t see the hype around a injury plagued gronk .... I hope they do well but we shall see

Gronk was a top 5 TE in 2018. Hes 31 y/o. Brady and Gronk >>>>>>> Winston and OJ.

No one is clearing jameis of turnovers lol but to act like everything is his fault is also ridiculous

No, they were #15 in Total D. You're thinking of Passing D, which was inflated due to allowing a league high 664 pass attempts. The actual pass efficiency numbers allowed by the defense were not bad. #8 in completion % allowed, and #17 in Pass Efficiency D.

And they were #1 in Rushing D, allowing fewer yards than any NFL team the last five seasons, with a paltry 3.3 ypc.

Overall this was not a bad defense by any stretch.

The plan is simple. Replace a QB that was a turnover machine with a QB who doesn't turn the ball over at all, while keeping all his weapons. Sounds like a good plan to me.

Don't care about ratings. He literally was off the field a lot. Belichick protected him for the playoffs. He also missed I think 4 games. 47 receptions and 3 TDS. It was by far his least productive year with the exception of 2013 where he played 7 games total and 2016 where he played 6 games. Again, people remember Gronk for his playoff heroics, but he has been often injured and has not played a fully productive season since 2015.

No one is saying everything is his fault. I can’t believe he isn’t going to be a starting QB next year personally, but people on here mocking the Bucs for replacing him with Tom Brady is so very Warchant.

That would be great if we were going into the 2018 season. But since then he retired from football. I'm assuming he didn't do that because he was at the top of his career. Yes, he is 31 but he is also a 9 year veteran in the NFL. Brady and Gronk MAY be better than Winston and OJ for a season or two...then what?!?

Well, we shall see. Brady the answer? Or, another one of Belichick's correct decisions concerning end of career NFL players.

Adding a 42 yo QB is not a long term solution. This is a publicity stunt by the Bucs. Maybe we can pull Deion back out of retirement to round out the secondary.

Literally just looked up team d and they are 29th

well yeah I agree with that lol.. ... I just don’t think Brady is anything of what he was but I sure hope I’m wrong

Some just care more about JW than the Bucs, I am one of them I have 0 attachment to any NFL team I just want my noles there to do good.

Folks, think about the history of decision making for these two franchises. Does anyone here think the Bucs are the smart one?

No one said it’s a long term solution. But maybe they make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs. If so, it’s a success. Winning isn’t easy. Bucs were 7-9 last year with a ton of close losses. 10-6 or 11-5 isn’t far off.

For the sweet love of God, everyone knows that Jameis is far a superior QB than Tom Brady
Yuk, yuk..
Brady at his worst is better than Winston at his best.

New York Knick route.....

Sign a bunch of past their prime players, but have the name, in order to get fans excited.

Never has this ever worked in any sport, but it will sell tickets and bring in revenue until the losses start to pile up.

What will more than likely happen is the Patriots win a couple of super bowls in the upcoming year and people realize, that while Brady is good, the well ran organization and Belichick are what made the Patriots great.

Gronk isn’t CLOSE to 280 right now and I seriously doubt he can get back to in 6-8 months without some serious pharmaceutical help or if he’s just carrying a lot of fat. I don’t believe he ever played that heavy either. Based off photos, he looks like he’s around 240lbs or so. He’s also coming off multiple back and knee surgeries.

And the Bucs aren’t bringing him in to block. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Brady doesn’t last past game 4 unless the Bucs overhaul their blocking scheme or Arians gets rid of those 5-7 step drops. Especially without a competent running game

Brady and Gronk won’t last 6 games. I may be the only Bucs fan in the world who is meh on this whole Brady deal. The Bucs aren’t winning anything this season. At best we’ll have a Joe Montana Kansas City situation

Brady had the same QBR as Jameis last year, and was actually regressing as the season moved forward. Jameis actually had a much better back half of his season, regardless of how it ultimately ended. The difference between the two of them now is Brady isn't going to get better with time while Jameis has a chance to do so.

As another fan that feels the same, the reaction of the entire fanbase to this makes me even less excited for the season and glad that I don't live in Tampa anymore.

No offense but I put more faith in my opinion on these matters then yours. Oh and lets see, my opinion aligns more closely with those that are paid to have an opinion about such matters. That would be the professionals. You are entitled to your opinion and anyone can get hurt, so you may end up being right. Before Tom Brady, Vegas had the Bucs at 55-1 to win the super bowl. Now they are 9 to 1. They are only behind Kansas City and Baltimore. In other words they are the favorite to be in the super bowl representing the NFC. Jameis had much better weapons then Brady did last year. Again, anyone can get hurt. We will just have to wait and see.
