Another stellar start from Carson Dorsey, a trio of home runs from the offense and an incredible save from John Abraham helped FSU baseball beat No. 6 Duke 7-6 Saturday afternoon to clinch the series.

The No. 21/NR Florida State outdoor track and field teams closed the regular season strong, adding seven postseason qualifiers.

David Mullarkey won the men’s 5,000-meter at the Payton Jordan Invitational, which was host by Stanford on Friday. He posted his personal best at 13:28.48, clocking the third-fastest time in program history.

The women’s 4x100 relay placed fourth at the LSU Invitational, clocking the 10th-fastest time in school history at 43.43 behind Alexandra Webster, Dajaz DeFrand, Kaniya Johnson, and Shenese Walker.

Neo Mosebi placed fourth in the men’s 100-meter dash with a career best and postseason time of 10.09. Ismael Kone concluded the event for the Noles in sixth with a postseason qualifying time of 10.14. Guuinove Joanus finished in 16th (10.47) and Dashinelle Dyer in 17th (10.48).

“I was really pleased with the men’s sprints today,” said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman. “They’re rounding into good form right now. Great race for Kone. He’s found himself again as a premier sprinter.”

Andre Korbmacher placed seventh in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.78.

Skyler Reynolds competed in the women’s long jump, placing fifth with a career best and postseason mark of 6.22m. Tori Carroll followed in sixth with a mark of 6.09m.

Zach Trotter competed in the 800 at the East Coast Relays, crossing the line with a time of 2:03.28. Ahmari Avin placed 13th in the discus throw with a mark of 43.84m. Ryan Driscoll followed in 15th with a career best of 42.99m.

Curtis Williams was the runner-up in the men’s long jump with a mark of 7.99m. Jordan Turner followed Williams in fourth at 7.94m. Jaiden Rollins rounded out the event in 10th (7.20m).

Kyvon Tatham placed third in the triple with a lifetime best of 16.00m. Laquan Ellis followed in sixth with a mark of 15.44m. Jayden-Louis Charles closed out the event in eight place with a lifetime best of 15.18m.

“Jumps squad got lots of season best and region marks,” Braman said “Kyvon and Curtis were fantastic today.”

Tyra Wilson competed in the women’s 400m, placing 25th with a lifetime best of 54.52. Kaelyaah Liburd rounded out the event in 26th at 55.44.

Martin Prodanov placed second in the men’s 800, clocking a time of 1:48.71.

“I was also pleased with Martin,” added Braman. “That was his first 800 in two years, so I was very pleased to see him run that fast.”

DeFrand won the women’s 100-meter, clocking a lifetime best of 10.88. Walker crossed the finish line in fifth with a career best of 11.22. Liana Tyson rounded out the event in 11th at 11.44. DeFrand also placed third in the 200 with a lifetime best and fourth-fastest time in school history at 22.58.

“Dajaz was a warrior today,” Braman said. “She’s truly one of the best in the country.”

Suus Altorf competed in the 800, placing third with a time of 2:05.40. Jaden Francis placed 11th at 2:11.60. Kayla Pinkard placed 11th in the triple jump with a mark of 11.94m.

Kaniya Johnson joined DeFrand in the 200, placing 15th with a time of 23.73. British Wilkerson placed 13th in the 400, clocking a time of 46.64.

“Great job today for both squads,” Braman added. "We really stepped up and are in good position for ACC’s in two weeks.”

FSU will head to Atlanta for the ACC Championship hosted by Georgia Tech, running May 9-11.

Florida State has had six draft picks on the first two days, pushing the program past 300 all-time selections.

Jaime Ferrer gave Florida State an early boost with a three-run home run. That was more than enough for Jaime Arnold, Brennen Oxford and Connor Hults.

Arnold battled through five innings, Oxford tossed 3.1 shutout innings and Hults picked up the save as the Seminoles defeated Duke 4-2 in a top-10 showdown on Friday night. The trio combined for 15 strikeouts.

No. 10 FSU (33-8, 12-7 ACC) had just five hits, with Ferrer’s shot the only one for extra bases.

After a 4-2 win Friday night in Durham, the 10th-ranked Florida State baseball team is one win away from a huge series win at No. 6 Duke.

The Seminoles (33-8, 12-7 in ACC) get their first of two opportunities to win the series vs. the Blue Devils (29-13, 13-9) on national television (ACC Network) Saturday at 4 p.m.

FSU will turn to junior lefty Carson Dorsey (2-2, 4.11 ERA) to make his fourth straight weekend start with the pitching staff still working its way back to full strength. He's coming off a start last weekend at Wake Forest where he allowed just two runs on four hits over six innings with a career-high 11 strikeouts. In his first three starts at FSU, Dorsey has allowed six runs over 14.2 innings (3.76 ERA) with 17 strikeouts and three walks allowed.

Duke will counter on the mound with freshman lefty Kyle Johnson (3-0, 1.88 ERA). This will be his seventh start but last week at Virginia Tech (5.1 innings) was the first time he ever extended past four innings in an outing. He's thrown 28.2 innings this season and has 32 strikeouts to 11 walks issued.

Florida State had one hit going into the fifth inning. And then the Florida pitching staff couldn’t get the Seminoles out.

Isa Torres and Jaysoni Beachum each had three-run homers as FSU’s bats produced 12 runs in the inning to take a 12-3 run-rule victory over the No. 12 Gators. Beachum, Madi Frey and Amaya Ross each scored two runs.

No. 16 FSU (37-10) won its 11th straight game and for the 19th time in the last 20 games. The Seminoles produced eight hits in the inning and benefitted from three Florida errors, a remarkable turn of events after Florida had taken a 2-0 lead.

FSU also captured a sixth straight win over Florida. The teams will play in Tallahassee on May 1.

Mimi Gooden allowed an earned run on three hits and a walk.

Emma Wilson (3-2) and Ashtyn Danley each gave up a run in an inning of work.

Florida dropped to 37-11.

FSU’s win should boost the team’s RPI as the Seminoles came into the night No. 14.

The No.21/NR Florida State outdoor track and field teams competed in distance events on Friday at the East Coast Relays, hosted by UNF at the Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium.

Ella Menke competed in the women’s 1,500-meter, clocking a lifetime best at 4:54.63. Gabriella Morris (4:57.67) and Annika Pfaff (4:59.66) followed, running their season bests. Toba Kahn added a lifetime best at 5:06.57 and Vivan Byrnes concluded the event with a time of 5:20.57.

Patrick Donnelly placed seventh in the men’s 1,500, establishing a career best at 3:50.83. Zach Trotter followed in 13th with a time of 3:53.93. Anthony Herrera rounded out the event in 32nd with a time of 4:01.81.

Michael Toppi opened his season in the 5,000, placing sixth with a time of 14:30.02. Andrew Hammel followed in eighth with a time of 14:37.41. Coleman Cronk finished the event for the Noles in 10th at 14:41.28.

The Seminoles crossed the finish in first and second place in the women’s 5,000, led by Dani Thompson at 17:35.87. Jane Eiselstein followed in second with a time of 17:38.97. Lillie Mealor placed 13th with a career best of 18:11.68. Rachel Johnson rounded out the event in 20th with a season best of 18:37.29.

The Noles will conclude competition at the East Coast Relays on Saturday, with the men’s discus throw starting at approximately 9:00 a.m. Live results will be available.

The LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, Louisianna will start on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and will feature the sprints and jumps group. Live timing will be available.

The No. 4 Florida State beach volleyball team advanced to the CCSA Championship after defeating South Carolina and No. 10 LSU on Friday afternoon in Huntsville, Ala.

This marks the Seminoles’ seventh CCSA championship appearance since the conference’s conception in 2016. Florida State have gone on to win all six CCSA championships in which it has appeared in. FSU’s last CCSA championship came in 2022 where the Noles defeated TCU 3-1.

FSU opened the weekend with a 5-0 victory over South Carolina. The Seminoles defeated the Gamecocks in dominant fashion, not letting them win a set. Maddie Anderson and Alexis Durish won court one 21-11, 21-13, and almost simultaneously, Alli Hansen and Anna Long won court two 21-17, 21-13. Audrey Koenig and Raelyn White then won court four 21-16, 21-14. Morgan Chacon and Skyler Germann took court three 21-16, 21-14, followed by Caitlin Moon and Kaileigh Truslow who completed the sweep on court five, 21-17, 21-13.

The Seminoles then played LSU which saw the Seminoles win 3-0. Koenig and White struck first, winning court four 21-15, 21-11. Germann and Chacon won court four next 21-15, 21-11 before rallying around Moon and Truslow who won the deciding match on court five 21-18, 21-18.

Florida State will play the winner of LSU and South Carolina on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. Live stats will be available on Seminoles.com.

The 16th-ranked Florida State Softball team (38-10, 16-3) kicked off its Senior Weekend with a 13-3 win over North Carolina (30-17, 10-12) in six innings Friday night at the Seminole Softball Complex. FSU has now won 12 consecutive games and have won 20 out of the last 21 games dating back to Mar. 21.

The game started with an eventful 38-minute first inning as the Tar Heels kicked off the scoring with a pair of runs, one off of an error and the other a RBI single. Ashtyn Danley got out of a bases loaded jam to end the inning and prevent any further damage.

The Seminoles responded emphatically at the bottom of the inning. Kaley Mudge hit a single followed by a Kalei Harding single. Isa Torres was able to reach second base from a fielder's choice and an error by the first baseman allowing Harding to score to put the Noles on the board. Devyn Flaherty then beat out a throw at first to bring in another run.

In her first game back at JoAnne Graf Field after returning from injury, Michaela Edenfield hit an RBI single to right field to score Flaherty. Jahni Kerr capped off the inning with her seventh home run of the season to make it 5-2 after the first inning.

In the second inning, UNC hit a solo home run to cut the lead to two, but Jaysoni Beachum got the run right back as Jaysoni Beachum hit one right back to the pitcher to score Amaya Ross.

The scoring for the Noles continued as a walk and two singles loaded the bases for Beachum. Beachum hit a sac fly allowing the run to score, and Harding picked up a RBI on a ground out to make it 8-3. Isa Torres hit her second home run in as many games to give FSU a commanding 10-3 lead after four innings.

In the bottom of the sixth inning the Seminoles, after both Ross and Mudge hit a single, Beachum added on to her already fantastic freshman season by ending the game with a three-run home run gliding out of the stadium, making the score 13-3 to trigger a run rule. This was the 11th run rule win out of the past 21 games for the Seminoles. With a season-high five RBI, Beachum has tied Sydney Sherrill's freshman record of 58 RBI in a single season. That mark is also the seventh-most RBI in a single season in program history.

Ashtyn Danley got the start for the Seminole and went 4.2 innings for the Seminoles allowing three runs and three hits while striking out two. Emma Wilson finished the game in the circle pitching the final 1.1 innings and allowing just one hit.

Florida State will face UNC again on Saturday with the first pitch set for 4 p.m. and available to watch on ESPNU.

After Jared Verse became the first FSU player taken in this year's NFL Draft on Thursday, quite a few more former Seminoles should hear their names called tonight in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. I'll have updates here once the draft continues at 7.

No. 10 Florida State (32-8, 11-7 ACC) hits the road, again seeking what would be a significant road series win at No. 6 Duke (29-12, 13-8). Game 1 is tonight at 6 p.m. (ACCN Extra, live stream), while Saturday's game is at 4 p.m. (ACC Network) and Sunday's is at 1 p.m. (ACCN Extra).

It's probably unfair to put too much on one series. But considering FSU's weekend losses at Clemson and Wake, two of the league's best, a series win at Duke would be huge for not just the RPI but the perception that the Seminoles are among the top 8 national seeds. That won't be decided for another month, but the argument becomes easier for the NCAA Selection Committee if FSU has a good weekend in Durham.

FSU will send LHP Jamie Arnold (7-1, 1.64 ERA) to the mound. He's gone five or more innings consistently as well as seven innings a number of times in 2024. That has helped take a burden off a bullpen that has been stretched, but FSU will get Ben Barrett back this weekend.

Duke will start LHP Jonathan Santucci (5-0, 3.38 ERA).

Of note, FSU will start LHP Carson Dorsey on Saturday (2-2, 4.11 ERA) and is TBD for Sunday.

The No. 16 Florida State softball team (37-10, 15-3) returns to JoAnne Graf Field this weekend for a big series with North Carolina (30-16, 10-11) on senior weekend. The teams will play at 6 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and noon on Sunday. Friday's and Sunday's games can be seen live on ACCNX with Jack Kavovit and Caylan Arnold on the call while Saturday's game can be seen live on ESPNU with Pam Ward and Jenny Dalton-Hill on the call. The Marching Chiefs will also be making their first ever appearance to JoAnne Graf Field on Friday night.

What's on the Line?

• Winning 19 out of its last 20 games, FSU has soared to the top of the ACC standings and is in prime position to take home its 15th ACC Regular Season Championship.
• FSU is one game ahead in the loss column of Virginia Tech and Duke in the ACC Standings. FSU could clinch a share of the ACC Regular Season Championship this weekend if FSU sweeps the Tar Heels and both Virginia Tech and Duke lose two out of the three games of their respective series this weekend. FSU would clinch the outright title with a sweep and both Virginia Tech and Duke getting swept.
• FSU has shot up to No. 11 in the RPI and have put themselves in great position to host a regional for the 10th consecutive season.

Senior Weekend

• Florida State will be honoring six seniors this weekend in Autumn Belviy, Devyn Flaherty, Kalei Harding, Kaley Mudge, Allison Royalty and Emma Wilson.
• This group has been a part of National Runner Up teams and two ACC Tournament Championship teams.
• The class has won over 200 games in the Garnet and Gold.

A Rivalry Rout

• It was all Seminoles on Wednesday night as FSU won its sixth consecutive game against rival Florida with a 12-3 run-rule win in Gainesville.
• FSU scored 12 runs in the fifth inning after being down 2-0. FSU's 12 runs in the inning was tied for the third-most in program history and tied for the most in program history against a Power Five opponent.
• Wednesday was the first time that FSU had scored 10 or more runs in an inning against a ranked opponent.
• Wednesday was FSU's largest margin of victory against the Gators and was the first time that FSU had run-ruled the Gators in the series.

Built To Finish

• A Lonni Alameda coached team is always going to finish the season strong and this year seems to be no different.
• So far in April, FSU is 13-1 and has outscored its opponents 109-28.
• In the past four seasons. Florida State is 87-11-1 during the months of April and May.

• After losing four out of five games to the likes of Alabama, Duke and Texas, the Seminoles have won 19 out of their last 20 games and are in sole possession of first place in the ACC.
• 10 out of FSU's 19 wins have come via run rule.
• FSU has jumped up to No. 11 in the RPI and have put themselves in great condition to host a regional for the 10th consecutive season.

• Yes, some of Florida State's best production has come from a freshmen class that was ranked the No. 3 overall class by softball America.
• Jaysoni Beachum (.444) and Isa Torres (,390) hold two out of the top three batting averages on the team.
• Both Beachum and Torres were named Top 25 finalists for the TUCCI/NFCA National Freshman of the Year award on Thursday.
• In the circle, Ashtyn Danley has recorded a team-high 16 starts and 97.1 innings.
• Mimi Gooden has also been a force for the Noles in the circle as she has pitched 33.1 innings and made seven starts.

• Beachum leads the team with 13 home runs and 53 RBI.
• Beachum has hit five home runs in her last six games.
• In her last seven games, Beachum has recorded 14 RBI.
• Beachum is just the third true freshman in school history to have 10+ home runs and 50+ RBI joining Jessi Warren and Sydney Sherrill.
• Beachum has recorded a hit in 36 out of the Seminoles' 47 games this season.
• Out of the 47 games this season, Beachum has had two or more hits in 22 games.
• Beachum has the highest batting average in the country among freshmen and has the 12th-highest batting average in the country.

• Kalei Harding or "Ocho" continues to be a consistent force for the Florida State lineup and is solidifying herself as one of the top hitters in program history.

• In ACC play, Harding is hitting .400 with four home runs and 23 RBI. Harding also picked up her 200th career hit against the Blue Devils.
• Harding has reached base in 18 out of the last 20 games.
• Against UCLA, Harding recorded four hits in five at-bats which was tied for a career high. Harding was the first FSU player since Kaley Mudge in 2021 at the Women's College World Series against Alabama to record four or more hits.
• Her seven RBI game against Charlotte tied Anna Shelnutt (2017) for the school record for RBI in a single game.
• Harding is second all-time in school history for career doubles (55), fourth in school history for career home runs (41), fourth for career RBI (193) and seventh in school history for career slugging percentage (.584).

Mudge Getting Back to Her Consistent Self

• After being slowed down by an offseason surgery, Kaley Mudge has made her way back to the top of the lineup and has been one of FSU's most consistent players in ACC play.
• Mudge is hitting .407 in ACC play with nine RBI.
• Her average is up to .357 after hitting .424 in the Seminoles' last 20 games.
• Against Notre Dame, Mudge went 7-for-10 (.700) with two doubles and a triple.

Torres Finds Groove in the Box and in the Field

• Replacing Josie Muffley is no easy task, but freshman Isa Torres has given her best shot and is off to a great start offensively and defensively for the Noles at the shortstop position.
• Torres is third on the team in batting average (.390) and has driven in 42 runs this season.
• Torres has been phenomenal in the Seminoles' last 20 games hitting .458 with four home runs and 22 RBI.
• Torres has continued to make jaw-dropping plays at the shortstop position this season and holds a .971 fielding percentage this season.

Coming Up in the Clutch

• When the pressure is on, freshman Isa Torres has come up big on multiple occasions for the Seminoles.
• On Wednesday with the Seminoles leading No. 12 Florida 3-2 in the fifth inning, Torres launched a three-run home run to center field to blow the game open.
• Torres has hit two walk-offs in the bottom of the seventh this season to lead the Noles to victory.
• Torres hit a two-run walk-off home run against NC State on Mar. 28 to put the Seminoles on top 8-6. Torres was the first true freshman to hit a walk-off home run since Jessi Warren in 2015 against Notre Dame.
• Torres also hit a two-RBI walk-off single against Texas Tech on Feb. 9 to win the game for the Noles.

Flaherty Heating Up at the Plate

• Remember Devyn Flaherty? Yes, she's back to her old self and has been leading the charge for the Noles at the plate in the past 20 games.
• Flaherty has led the team with a .463 average in her last 20 games compared to just a .207 average in her first 27 games.
• Against Boston College, she put the game away with a two-run home run to complete FSU's seventh inning comeback against the Eagles.
• Flaherty is still as dangerous as ever on the base paths as she has 13 stolen bases on 15 attempts.
• Last season, Flaherty stole 31 bases on 32 attempts which led the ACC.
• Flaherty cracked the all-time top 10 list for most career stolen bases in school history. Flaherty has 97 career stolen bases which puts her eighth in school history.
• Flaherty was one of four players in the NCAA in 2023 to steal 30 or more bases while only being caught once.

Reid Gaining Confidence in the Circle

• As one of the top freshman pitchers in 2023, Makenna Reid has begun to find her groove in the circle in 2024 after a tough start.
• Over the course of her career, Reid holds a 25-1 record for the Seminoles.
• Reid has pitched the second-most innings for the Noles this season with 87.1 innings and leads the team with a 3.37 ERA.

• As one of the top recruits in the country coming out of high school, Kerr struggled in her first two seasons as a Seminole as she dealt with the implications of COVID and was recovering from a knee injury that she suffered her freshman season.
• The tide turned for Kerr in 2023, and it all started with a home run in a primetime ESPN slot against Alabama at the 2023 Clearwater Invitational. Kerr came into the game starting in just three out of the Seminoles nine games and was 2-for-10 at the plate.
• Kerr led the team with a .356 batting average while adding eight home runs and 40 RBI in 2023.
• Kerr earned First Team All-ACC honors for the first time in her career and was named to the Preseason All-ACC Team.

My Oh Amaya

• Fans have known the name Amaya Ross for awhile but mainly for her insane speed on the base paths. Now, Ross has found herself in the FSU lineup for more than just her speed.
• Ross has started all 47 games this season after making just 18 starts the past two seasons.
• Ross has already surpassed her hit, RBI and home run numbers this season from the last two seasons combined.
• Ross had one of the best weeks of her career at the Dugout Club Classic.
• In six games, Ross recorded 10 hits in 15 at-bats (.667) with six RBI and three triples.
• Ross was involved in 17 out of the Seminoles 47 runs scored in the Dugout Club Classic and was a perfect 5-for-5 on the base paths.
• Ross's six triples is ninth in the country.
• Ross is 25th in the country and second in the ACC with 23 stolen bases this season.
• Ross currently holds a .321 batting average with eight home runs which is fourth on the team.
• Ross has stolen 50 bases in 54 attempts over the course of her career.

Florida State Women’s Basketball Head Coach Brooke Wyckoff has secured another impact transfer this offseason, signing 6-foot-4 versatile forward Malea Williams from the University of Cincinnati.

Willams will be using her COVID-19 bonus year as she enters her fifth season of college basketball, playing her previous three seasons at Cincinnati and her freshman year at Louisville.

“We are thrilled to have Malea join our team next season,” Wyckoff said. “Malea brings a contagious energy and passion to everything she does and is such an enjoyable person to be around. Her energy, experience at the college level, size and skill set will enhance our roster on both ends of the floor, making us bigger and more versatile. I am really looking forward to coaching her and I know our fans will love watching her play.”

Williams adds some highly sought-after size for the Seminoles, but is consistent from 3-point range and excels on the boards. Last year, Williams finished second on the Bearcats with 35 made 3-point field goals but led her team shooting 36.8 percent from downtown. She averaged 8.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and went 41.1 percent (102-of-248) from the floor overall while also leading the team with 34 blocked shots.

Next season, Williams could form a strong tandem with All-ACC First Team forward Makayla Timpson. Her presence gives depth to FSU’s size with Avery Treadwell and Mariana Valenzuela back as well.

In her collegiate career, Williams has surpassed 100 blocked shots. She had a pair of career-best 18-point performances last season vs. quality Big 12 opponents in Oklahoma and Iowa State, and had the game-winning steal and score with two seconds left in a 58-56 win over Oklahoma State on Jan. 24.

Williams is from Georgetown, Ky., and brings her game to the South for the first time in her career. She has a chance to thrive along a host of playmakers that return to FSU in 2024-25, including one of the nation’s best players in guard Ta’Niya Latson and O’Mariah Gordon. FSU’s offense, which has led the ACC in scoring during the regular season in each of the past two seasons, gives Williams the chance to put her skill sets on full display.

Williams, who attended Scott County High School and averaged nearly 20 points her senior year, joins Gulf Coast State College’s Raiane Dias Dos Santos among FSU’s offseason transfers so far. Dias Dos Santos also brings a versatile skill set to the Seminoles for next year at the guard position.

In her junior season at Cincinnati in 2022-23, Williams established a program record with seven blocked shots at Wichita State, and led the team in blocks in 14 games – including 10 games with multiple blocked shots.

The Seminoles are one of just eight current programs that has made each of the last 11 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournaments, and have enjoyed an impressive stretch of 18 tournament appearances in the last 19 seasons.

FSU has also ranked in the Top 10 nationally in combined scoring average over the last two seasons, averaging 78.9 points in a highly entertaining pace and space offense.

Jared Verse is FSU's 47th NFL first-round draft pick

Being the Rams' first first-round pick since 2016, tasked with helping fill the hole left by Aaron Donald's retirement is a lot of pressure on Jared Verse. It's no surprise the former FSU defensive end is embracing that pressure.

With spring camp now over, I compiled a story with one thought on each FSU football position group after 15 spring practices.

Round 1 of the NFL Draft begins on Thursday at 8 p.m. (ESPN, ABC and NFL Network have separate broadcasts).

We're going to sit back and enjoy the first round, see where Jared Verse is taken and then await the selection of Braden Fiske and Keon Coleman.

FSU pitcher Ben Barrett is expected to be available for about 30 pitches this weekend at Duke after missing the last seven weeks. Conner Whittaker is "moving along" and FSU just got some good news about Friday starter Cam Leiter's recovery. However, FSU's pitching staff will still be a bit depleted for this weekend's top-10 series at No. 6 Duke.
