Just minutes after Auburn tied the game in the bottom of the 5th, the floodgates opened. And, thankfully, not the rain that had caused delays during the Tallahassee Regional.

Kaley Mudge drew a bases-loaded walk to start an unexpected seven-run inning, with Jaysoni Beachum hitting an RBI single, Kalei Harding a two-run single and Isa Torres a three-run home run as FSU routed Auburn 10-4 on Sunday night for the regional title.

FSU (46-14) knocked off all three regional teams on consecutive days, first Chattanooga and then UCF on Saturday before taking down Auburn. The Seminoles won by a combined 18-7.

The threat to the professionalism of collegiate sports in House v NCAA stole the headlines of Part 1 of our report on the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Spring Meetings. The litigation between the ACC and two of its member institutions — Florida State and Clemson — is also an important topic of interest to the media and Seminole fans and is the subject of Part 2 of this series.

While ACC commissioner Jim Phillips would have much preferred to focus on ACC accomplishments and progress toward strengthening the conference, he was forced to answer questions from the media about the contentious litigation within the conference schools first following his closing remarks.

Sunday's Regional Final of the 2024 Tallahassee Regional will be played at 6 p.m. at JoAnne Graf Field.

If necessary, Game 7 will begin at 8:30 p.m. or approximately 35 minutes after the conclusion of Game 6. Florida State will play Auburn.

What a badace ride!

Hence an indication of the performance of the Midsummer can be gleaned from a comparison with the 2024 BMW M340i which runs a 369 hp version of the same TwinPower Turbo in-line six engine used by the Midsummer and the Plus Six Morgans.

With Florida State dropping Saturday’s final game of the Georgia Tech series and Virginia completing a sweep of Virginia Tech Saturday night, the Seminoles have fallen to the No. 5 seed for the ACC Tournament next week in Charlotte.

FSU is in Pool D with No. 4 seed Virginia and No. 9 seed Georgia Tech. It will face GT Tuesday at 3 p.m. and then Virginia Friday at 11 a.m., needing to win both games in order to win the pool and advance to the ACC Semifinals on Saturday.

Florida State’s Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif will begin the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Individual Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Monday. Cornut-Chauvinc will compete in the singles competition as the No. 3 national seed while he and Dous-Karpenschif will compete in the doubles competition as an at-large selection.

The singles competition begins on Monday while the doubles competition gets underway Tuesday. This marks the second straight season Florida State is represented by both players in the same competitions. The bracket selection will be announced at the conclusion of the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Team Championship.

Cornut-Chauvinc finished the season as the No. 4 player in the nation with a 25-3 record and played the entire season on Court 1 for the Seminoles. He was named the ACC Player of the Year, earned a second straight All-ACC Singles First-Team selection and was on the All-ACC Doubles Second Team. He claimed 17 ranked victories and only dropped 10 singles sets throughout the entire season.

The senior was also named ACC Tournament MVP after straight-set victories against #65 Virginia Tech, #11 NC State, and #7 Wake Forest before accomplishing one of the greatest moments in the program’s history. In a 3-3 ACC Championship match, Cornut-Chauvinc was down 5-2 in the third set before winning five straight games and the final seven points to seal Florida State’s first-ever ACC Championship.

Cornut-Chauvinc and Dous-Karpenschif finished the season as the No. 13 doubles pair in the nation with a 15-11 record and played the entire season on Court 1 for the Seminoles. The duo earned a second straight bid into the national doubles competition and was named to the All-ACC Doubles Second Team. They claimed six ranked victories.

The Lyon, France, natives took their best victory of the season over the No. 2 pair in the nation in the ACC Semifinals against Wake Forest. Cornut-Chauvinc and Dous-Karpenschif were tied 3-3 before winning the final three games to seal the all-important doubles point which was the difference in the 4-3 thriller.

Three individuals on the Florida State women’s tennis team will travel to Stillwater, Okla., for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships beginning Monday.

Vic Allen and Ellie Schoppe will be competing in the 64-player singles tournament, and the duo of Allen and Millie Bissett are in the 32-pair doubles tournament.

Allen is ranked 21st in the ITA singles rankings and finished the season with 15 wins, including six over ranked opponents. Allen earned ACC Player of the Week for three consecutive weeks in March and April.

Schoppe is the 35th-ranked singles player in the nation and earned 15 victories in singles with seven against ranked opponents. The Stuart, Florida, native earned ACC Player of the Week in February.

The pair of Allen and Bissett are ranked 17th in the ITA doubles rankings and earned 13 victories together, including three top-15 wins. The duo went a perfect 7-0 in the month of March and earned ACC Doubles Team of the Week following a weekend sweep of Georgia Tech’s 12th-ranked pair and Clemson at No. 1 position.

The singles tournament kicks off on Monday and the doubles tournament begins on Tuesday. The seeds and times are to be announced. Live stats and video will be available on Seminoles.com.

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Sophomore All-American Lottie Woad is in third place in the individual standings, and the Seminole Women's Golf Team is in 16th place in the team standings after two rounds of the NCAA Division I Championships on the North Course at the Omni La Costa Resort. Woad is just three strokes behind the overall leader as she plays to win the NCAA Individual Championship and the famed Augusta National Women's Amateur in the same season.

The Seminoles are just two strokes outside of the cutline to advance to the fourth round of stroke play after Sunday’s third round. Following Sunday’s play the top 15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on one of the advancing teams will move on to play in Monday‘s fourth round of stroke play. The NCAA individual champion will be crowned following the fourth round of stroke play. The top eight teams after the four rounds of stroke play will begin match play on Tuesday. Those eight teams will play two rounds of match play (quarterfinals and semifinals) on Tuesday with the winners advancing to the match play championship to determine the NCAA team champion on Wednesday.

Texas A&M moved into the lead in the team standings as the Aggies were one of seven teams to play under par golf on Saturday. The Aggies lead second place Stanford by five strokes.

“We didn’t handle the tough conditions today,” said Head Coach Amy Bond. “The wind kicked up, and the course got very tricky this afternoon. We will play in the afternoon tomorrow, and we’ll know what score we need to hit to advance. We are going to wear our Sunday golds for tomorrow and play Florida State golf.”

Florida State begins play in Sunday just two strokes outside of the cutline of 15th place in the team standings. The Seminoles are just 10 strokes out of the top-10 of the team standings.

Woad carded a second round score of 74 and has a two round total of 139. She is just three strokes behind Adela Cornousek of Texas A&M and only two behind Annabella Pancake of Clemson. Woad carded two birdies during Saturday’s afternoon round after tying her own personal record of 65 in Friday’s first round. With 10 birdies in the first two rounds of the championship, she is tied for second among the 161 golfers in the field for birdies made.

“Lottie continues to play great golf,” said Bond. “She was unlucky on her final hole today but will be successful tomorrow.”

Sophomore Katherine Cook was Florida State’s second-lowest scorer during the game with a 3 over par score of 75. She was even par on her back nine with one birdie and eight holes scored at par or better. Cook played her best golf of her second season as a Seminole over her last 11 holes of the round, as she closed her day at even par.

The Seminoles are scheduled to play with Pepperdine and San Jose State beginning at 3 p.m. ET off of hole No. 1.

With an 8-3 win in hand Thursday night, the Florida State baseball team is set to close out the regular season with a Friday doubleheader.

The No. 10 Seminoles (38-13, 16-11 in ACC) start a doubleheader vs. Georgia Tech (30-20, 14-14) at 2 p.m. at Dick Howser Stadium. FSU needs to win just one of the two games Friday to take the series over the Yellow Jackets.

Game 1 will see FSU turn to junior lefty Carson Dorsey (4-3, 4.28 ERA) against Georgia Tech starter Cam Jones (3-1, 5.04).

Before the game, FSU is honoring its seniors with a Senior Day ceremony at 1:30 p.m.

Florida State is petitioning the NCAA to rescind penalties imposed on the school for NIL-related recruiting violations after a court this spring enjoined the association from enforcing its own rules, according to a letter the school sent the NCAA earlier this month.

The three-page letter, obtained by Yahoo Sports, was sent this week to the chair and managing directors of the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions. The letter outlines reasons for a reconsideration of a subsection of penalties, including an imposed fine, scholarship reductions, recruiting restrictions and a disassociation of a booster.

Florida State struggled to adjust to the change-up for most of the night. But in the sixth inning, the Seminoles identified it and drove in some much-needed runs.

Devyn Flaherty had a two-out triple to score the game-winning run as FSU rallied to take a 3-2 win over Chattanooga in the Tallahassee Regional on Friday evening.

UNC Trustee Dave Boliek said he wants UNC to join a higher-revenue league.

"I am advocating for that," he said. "That's what we need to do. We need to do everything we can to get there. Or the alternative is the ACC is going to have to reconstruct itself. I think all options are on the table."

CARLSBAD, Calif. – National Player of the Year Finalist Lottie Woad is in first place, and Florida State is in a tie for ninth place in the team standings after the first round of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship on the Champions Course at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa. Woad carded a career-low and program record tying 65 and leads the individual standings by one stroke over Isabella Rawl of Clemson.

Woad carded a 7 under par score of 65. She tied her personal record for a low score in a single round, tied the school record for a low score in a single round, and set the school record for the low score in a single round in the NCAA Championship Finals. Woad came within one shot of tying the all-time record low score of 64 in the NCAA Championship finals event. The best score in relation to par in NCAA Championship Finals history is a 64 by Megan McChrystal of LSU in 2010.

"We had a good round after getting off to a tough start," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "There were certainly some nerves and some questions about this golf course which is being played for the first time. We hung in there and gritted it out through the hard holes. We were able take advantage of the front nine and make some birdies after starting on the back nine."

Woad was on fire from the start of her round as she began her second appearance in the NCAA Championship. She carded birdies on her first, fourth and ninth holes and made the turn at 3 strokes under par. She birdied five of her nine holes on her back nine to finish her post season masterpiece. She totaled eight birdies and nine more holes scored at par to tie her career best.

Woad was never over par, was as many as seven strokes under par, and closed her round with two birdies on her final three holes. She is now a total of 62 strokes under par for her 19-tournament career as a Seminole. Woad is now six strokes under par in four NCAA Championship rounds.

"I drove the ball well and left myself in pretty much in every fairway," said Woad following the round. "I'm feeling really good. I'm going to keep those lines off the tee for tomorrow."

Senior Alice Hodge also played outstanding golf as she carded an even par 72. Following an uncharacteristic double bogey on her first hole of the round, Hodge closed her final 17 holes at 2 under par. Hodge immediately regrouped after her double, birdied her second hole, and finished her round with three birdies and 13 holes scored at par. She closed her round with two birdies and nine holes scored a par. Her scorecard was clean on her final nine holes – a string of nine consecutive holes scored at par to close the round.

Florida State’s freshmen have needed to be productive. In what has been an up-and-down season for the Seminoles, how the freshmen perform in the postseason spotlight will determine how far the team advances.

While FSU returned a core of veterans in the lineup, freshmen have made a major impact. Jaysoni Beachum leads the team in nearly every major hitting category, Isa Torres is third on the team in hitting while flashing an impressive glove at shortstop, and Ashtyn Danley has often been the team’s most effective pitcher.

Florida State will play host to Chattanooga in the Tallahassee Regional on Friday afternoon. The 4:30 p.m. start has been delayed as Auburn-UCF is running long.
