Chubba or Milton?

There seems to be a consensus that Chubba is now #2 on the QB depth chart.

But I ask this...if we're at Clemson in a dog fight and Travis has to leave the game for some reason, who do we want in there? I can see the argument for Chubba because he can run the offense that Travis is running. But he's not nearly the running threat that Travis is, and he's only played a little over 4 quarters of CFB so far. Tough environment to put him in.

Seems to make more sense to use the guy with loads of experience, and hope that he can move the chains with quick and decisive throws.

I can already hear the responses about the OL and pass protection. But Clemson's pass rush will be relentless either way.

Caveat - I'm hoping that Travis will play every snap the rest of the season, except maybe for UMass if we're leading comfortably.

dot / Ira - mid season report

@Dot Com
@iraschoffel
Gene a few weeks ago we discussed maybe a midseason report that would include some goal for the remainder of the 2021 season .. not wins be expected improvements in performance
please do not forget this .. in particularly I would like to see what units still have a lot of room for improvement in 2021 and how much improvement is possible and or expected and maybe some specific goals ...

ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY THOUGHTS?

thoughts
OL - the ol is much better and I am VERY happy with their play in games they are all healthy ,, certainly smith washington and scott will get better in 2021 .. maybe much better .... but DLT Gibbon and the other scott are closer to peaked? does their play really improve much other the next 6 games? if so can we get 1-2 bench marks our coaches look at .. such as how many pressure per game or how many blitzes they did not pick up the right guy .. things they measure, grade and think are important and track

same with DL .. like the OL I dont see real change the last 6 games - we are good and we will get slightly better but not by much ..

DB on the other had is the area where we for sure may have the biggest improvement on this team .. I think for the first time in 3 years we have found the starting / best 5 players this last game .. hopefully we can play 4-6 games in a row with the same 5 DBs playing the same positions. I think we could be DAMN good at DB when we play "UM .. or by the UF game ,, we have improved light years twice
1 the first game we were so much better that 2020 it was crazy and then the game we just played ,,
2 the UNC (back have of Lville) game we damn near looked decent something to be proud and much better that we played against ND. Can we actually be good by the end of the year .. or is that next spring?

anyway can we identify areas we
1 need a lot of improvement (WR OL QB DB LB) and
2 we expect to see a lot of improvement (WR DB)
3 area we expect to see less improvement

and what is realistic at each spot
heck after the UNC game .. maybe WR is a spot we can be good at this year .. I felt good about a huge step at WR in the spring and kind of taking it to the next level next summer but can we do it this year?

if the WRs do not drop a single pass and play like they did against UNC (which I do not expect) we could beat UM NC state and BC and go to a bowl .. I have not seen that level of play since 2013 .. 8 years .. is that realistic or are we two steps forward and one back and that means the WR single handily kill us in 1-2 of the remaining big games.

MAYBE YOU DO TWO ARTICLES .. One on defense and one on the Offense ..

Coach Norvell Loves

FSU.

I had no idea he took nearly a one million salary reduction due to Covid. Never heard a peep. These salaries and the Covid reductions are interesting .

I am liking coach Norvell better each day. Go Noles !

Did a little research today about running game

So far this year FSU has rushed for over 200 yards in five of the six games.
Do you guys have any idea the last time FSU rushed for over 200 yards in five of six games during the course of the season?
It's crazy.
It was back in 2004.

And if we go back to the last game of last season, against Duke, Florida State has rushed for over 200 yards in six of seven games.
The last time that happened?
I mean, we're going all the way back to the first six games of the 1995 season. With some dudes named Dunn and Preston were getting the ball out of the backfield.

And when, presumably, they rush for over 200 yards against UMass next weekend, that will be the seventh 200-yard rushing effort in eight games.
The last time that happened?
The first eight games of 1993!

Anyway, I'm planning on writing an actual column about these crazy numbers as well, but thought it was interesting enough to share here first.
Don't worry. I'm not arguing that this offense has been great, that it rivals what those 1995 or 1993 offenses accomplished, and yes the record is still the record.
But putting up these kinds of rushing numbers isn't normal at FSU. Clearly. And maybe it's setting a solid foundation of what this offense can be for years to come. We'll see!

Anyway, just thought it was interesting! Carry on.

Watching Clemson and Syracuse tonight

If FSU continues to improve, an upset against Clemson isn’t out of the question. They have a great defense with an anemic offense. I’ll be very interested in how long Syracuse is able to hang with them. If it’s a dog fight to the end, I like our chances. With two weeks to heal, we should go into the game healthier - especially on the oline - than we’ve been since the ND game. Go Noles!

We'll know a lot about UM this Saturday

If Miami checks out on Manny at UNC, they could really end with one ugly season. @ UNC and NCst the next 2 games. Georgia Tech who they always play poorly. @ FSU then Virginia Tech. Nothing could make me more pleased than full fledged give up Miami team.
We could get a couple of very talented players in recruiting out of this. In positions of need. Gonna be a big Sam Howell fan this weekend. Hope he throws for 400 yards.

Hi Guys,
When i first started donating on YouTube there was a spot to put in your donation in individually, however recently they have put in super stickers which has set amounts, they also have a spot for super chat which has a slide bar that goes up but has .99 increments; i wish they would go back to put in your own amounts wich would be more fun ie: 35.25. I love your work and the reason i dont ask alot of questions, all the great family of listeners, ask them fot me, I am originally from tally proud graduate of NFCS 77 and a proud graduate of FSU 81, family season ticket holder and booster 1970-2016. Currently live in The Woodlands, Texas. As my fraternity brother Steve noted i am fighting 4 super rare cancers, i guess all those nights at Freds Backdoor and Kens, the Palace and Phyrst(bust your bladder nite) caught up with me.
