Optimism thread for the rest of the season

Well, certainly time to re-think what these guys can do. Have to stay healthy, have no room for any losses. Having the bye week now is huge to let these guys come down a bit from this, get a tune-up game against surging UMass, and then see what they can do in Death Valley.

Win next week, play a somewhat complete game against Clemson, and who is to say they can't go 3-1 in November?

Huge step today, great performance. I am glad for the players

LONG TERM GOALS - WE ARE GETTING BETTER

ARE WE GETTING BETTER - YES - A BLIND MAN COULD SEE IT

PLEASE POST THINGs THAT YOU HAVE SEEN US GETTING BETTER AT SINCE 2020

1. penalties - wow they have decreased
2. discipline - penalties attention to detail work ethic celebrating every play even when we are losing .. the team has reeled itself in
3. never quite attitude - good lord those come backs against ND and Louisville were impressive, we were big group of quitters last year
4 how to line up .. we now know how to line up .. really not even a question at this point
5 strength and conditioning - hell we get stronger in the fourth QTR
6 who to cover what pass pattern to run .. seem like EVERY play last year some DB was in the wrong spot .. almost NEVER had the DB all cover ing the right person
7 Effort - 50:50 balls we never won - EVER .. we are start to win our share

LOVE THE WAY WE ARE HEADED AND WE ARE HEADING THERE QUICKLY

*************************************************
this MAY be the game that puts a stake in and solidifies a top 10 recruiting class

Why hasnt there been more improvement on the Oline?

I know we're banged up with not much depth but we brought in a transfer guard. Not great but experienced. DLT has been allowed to slide inside which many said is more natural for him. I know our tackles are young but they hold their own for the most part and Smith is a strength and Baveon has been somewhat of a surprise. Yet we still cant pick up blitzes or handle stunts, 1 on 1 blocking is scary and the pocket collapses regularly. I thought the OL made strides last year and with more seasoned players playing their natural positions I expected we'd be a little better. Thoughts on the lack of progression to this point?

FACT - UM plays UNC next week

wow will that not set the table for our future game . confidence and such

You beat UNC with a running QB and pass rushing DL ..

DE is and DL has not been the UM strength .. so we hope UM gives Howell time and he lights them up ..
King has been hurt so bad he can not play and when he played he was no jordan travis ... and can not throw .. hopefully he missed the UNC game and they lose big

These next 3 weeks…

Is truly a blessing coming off this win because we basically have a bye week and the week of prep against UMASS to just get better and sharpen everything we’ve been doing. It is also a period of time for guys to get healthy. Then the week after the UMASS game is just another week to get better. Clemson doesn’t look as unbeatable as they once did to me. The UMASS game should be a nice tune up game to be able to go out there and execute on both sides of the ball and get better. Almost like a scrimmage.

Let's See Now....

Run the ball effectively so they have to respect the play-action. Add to that ZERO sacks, ZERO turnovers, and five or fewer penalties? Most teams with that stat line are winners. We are no different. I think Carolina figured on pushing us around tonight. Major shock to their system, and a big win for the good guys. Bye week to get healthy and see what we can do with the 2nd half of the season!!!
