#100pagesnatty Thread 11/08/18 #63pagesnattynumber1 #106pagesnattynumber2

Amazing to me that a school would go to such lengths to steal a 5-6 coach, and then give him a 10 yr/$70m deal.

I get that he has a great track record but if you've actually watched any of our games this year you would never think the guy is worth anything close to that.

The Aggies haven't won a championship since '39. It's really never competed consistently for a championship. That's because it's really hard to get athletes from the inner city to go to a para-military Ag and engineering school located in the middle of the sticks

I will not let the events of the last two weeks overshadow the last eight years.
  1. Though it ended differently than anyone, including Jimbo, thought it would he still accomplished many great things at FSU. He brought structure to a program that was greatly lacking it, brought us a third MNC and Heisman winner, don't know how many ACC titles, dominance over our in state rivals, the IPF and other tremendous facility improvements. For all of that I will be forever grateful.

At the end of the day, college football at this level is a big business and he made the best decision for him. I wish him and his family nothing but the best
    .

Gotta say I agree. He came in knowing he would be taking over one of the hardest positions possible, replacing a legend. He delivered a HUGE turnaround from the Jeffery area and a couple of big banners for the stadium, I got to go to the Rose bowl because of him. He also gave us 5 straight over the Gates (even if they were at their lowest). Fully hate the way he left, I haven't been sold on him for a while. Wish nothing poor on him, but now the annual hiring away drama is gone and expect the next coach has the ability to stop losing the underdog games to WF, BC, Houstons of the league.

And I am glad the Aggies overpaid drastically. Icing on the cake.

Still too early for me.

Everything Jimbo brought to the program in the early years he has destroyed in the last few, and especially this year.

You brought in your hand picked coaches, and pushed for higher salaries(#6 in total), then refused to make changes when they didn't work out, maybe more importantly, you didn't challenge them to do better. Maybe you put recruiting over coaching, but that was your choice.

You claimed, and had your surrogates claim, our facilities were lacking, and we all know that is a big fat lie. You didn't get what you wanted right when you asked for it, and than pouted.

I will not miss Jimbo one bit.

Well it just gets better and better over on the tc. Well worth the price of admission over the last week.

The latest gem, which I surprisingly believe, is that a poster was at a party at a farm that Jimbo was at and Jimbo was sloshed and being a belligerent ass to everyone, swigging Evan Williams Green Label straight from the bottle (this was my favorite part, why the guy had to add green label, i dont know, but I love it)then taking over someones Ipod and singing jason aldean songs. People told him to calm down so he stripped off his shirt and was yelling that nobody tells him what to do, guests started feeling scared and uncomfortable, with his girlfriend trying to stop him.

I so wish this is real. Ive always thought that sharing beers or bourbons with Jimbo would be one helluva time and would eventually turn into a highschool style s-show with arm wrasslin and push up competitions.

The narrative in Texas is that the Aggies are a sleeping giant and Jimbo is the one to wake it up. Same thing was said about JACKIE Sherrill, franchione, Sumlin, et al. I responded that if you haven't sniffed a championship game since 1939, you are not sleeping. You are dead.

Watching some of his games drives me to drink, I’d imagine his personal life has driven him to drink.

So now that this is over FINALLY. Here are my final thoughts

- The whole thing got out of hand and JF/Sexton due to their previous success with the same tactics over played their hand.
- JF while he got a ton of money and all the bells and whistles will regret leaving a program that has been dominant for close to 40 years. Honestly I think JF has some issues; guys who are secure don't yell at fans and generally act the way he has this season. I am sure his ego blew up winning a title and 29 or so straight; but just showing up doesn't mean you will win. Who knows how long he knew about his wife and I don't care who you are but the woman who gave birth to your kids etc. starts screwing around on you that sucks and hurts.
- JF hurt his reputation as a guy who cared and was about the players. You don't do things this way, if that is really who you are. Sure he wins in the money stuff, but recruits will remember this and that will hurt recruiting; it is not like AM was some place full of 5 stars looking to go to the NFL before he got there. You can't reinvent your recruiting spiel with more money.
- FSU now has to step up and make the right call on a new coach; you want to show the world why JF was an a$$ hire a good coach and be better than then AM next year.
- FSU may lose a few recruits but we are stacked and the stars next to a name don't always indicate success. Being a top 15 class this year won't set FSU back, as long as we win next year and get the right new coach.
- FSU was FSU before JF came here and will be FSU long after JF has left AM. Maybe JF didn't know that; but if AM has had crazy money for so long and to quote " the best facilities in pro or college football" why aren't they winning right now. Sorry Sumlin might not be the best coach ever; but he is not terrible.
- Time will tell but I have no doubt that in 5 years the know it alls on cable will be trying to figure out why JF left FSU. Sure he won a title but if you have a roster that is all drafted by the NFL you have to be terrible at coaching to not win a title. Have fun getting by Bama, au, CU et all over the next 5 years; heck it took a 1st pick and a freak WR to do that against just one of those teams at FSU.

I could say more but the bottom line is good riddance and good luck winning at AM; by the way you think things got hot here wait till your 3-4 in the SEC and making 7.5 million at AM with everything you asked for and were given.

One way or the other. I am glad it is over. We can both move on. I thank Jimbo for what he did while here, but very tired of him playing FSU for more each year. And the way the last week played out, very ugly, he lost my loyalty. So many things could have been done better. I am glad he is gone. Gets us out of the crazy buyout, and hopefully we can hire someone who really wants to be at FSU.

Two words for you... urban meyer. His departure from uf was much worse than Jimbo's and all is already forgotten at tOSU.

Memories are very short when you win.

Don't disagree but the difference is urbie won at OSU and I don't think JF will at AM; not like they are paying for. urbie had a great situation with history etc. and most bought into the "health" issues, times have changed. I have no insider info but when everything comes out JF will look like the a$$ who ran away after a bad season he partially created due to stubbornness and thinking he was above the school. Maybe I am wrong but FSU is not cheap or a crap program that was trying to milk him. Just the opposite JF tried to milk FSU.

Outside of FSU fans, no one knows of any of the issues you mention.

I realize you don’t work in the medical arena like I do but the correct terminology is burnoutitis triggered by the etiological agent of having a serial killer on the team.
Is pizza a known remedy?

Like I said I don't have any info at all I am just reading the man and how this unfolded, the optics. The only way this is a success for JF is if he wins a title at AM in the next 3-5 years. Just don't see that happening and IMO FSU will get a good coach, even if in the short term. The only downside for FSU is that they now realize getting a guy for his career is over, no more BB's and FSU has to operate accordingly.

I think it's as simple as Jimbo just isn't really that good of a guy.

That's what I'm arriving at every time I posit rationales and reasons.

He's just not that good of a guy...and we're probably very lucky to be rid of him. Even if it hurts in the short-medium term.
I got a guy who was pretty up close with Bobby and later Jimbo. He says nothing good about Jimbo as a human while agreeing with commonly held perception that Bobby is a good somebody.
Jerks gonna be jerks...
Ya gotta figure that the players would eventually be done with him, just as others are. Jimbo is who he is.

Wrong (as usual - but that's beside the point).

He's making (allegedly) $7.5 mil/year for the next 10 years.

It's already a mind-blowing success by any measure imaginable.

I guess if you measure success in terms of money than you are likely correct. I measure success by achieving real goals.

I think it's as simple as Jimbo just isn't really that good of a guy.

I personally know three people who worked closely with and around Jimbo including two who sat in on all of his press conferences and they all universally disliked him. One guy disliking him, no big deal. Going 3 for 3 and he’s probably an %*% in real life.

If his goal was to have generational wealth, he definitely succeeded.

It should be, but no way of knowing that it will be. No idea how much he pays in alimony and child support to his ex. He can't control what she does with it. Taxes will eat up a chunk, hair club for men isn't cheap.

$75 million guaranteed is generational money.

Indeed it is.

Apparently there's a snag in Fisher's A&M deal concerning his official title.
Some in College Station are apparently hesitant to call him "Jimbo of House Fisher, Defender of the Inches, Father of Facilities, the Unbald, First of His Name" as he has requested.

Interesting how all of the stories are just now coming about about how much of a jerk Jimbo is.

The truth is that Jimbo was the right coach at the right time. He brought our program back to national prominence. If we're honest with ourselves, not a single one of us would trade that 2013 season and national title for a different coach.

That said, it was time for Jimbo to go. We'll never have another Bobby Bowden. I'm just glad it's over.

No I was told repeatedly he was a jerk by people who worked around him. A journalist everyone would know if I said his name, told me explicitly that the worst part of his life was Monday press conferences with Jimbo. I think you could see that with Dot as well (who I don’t know) as even Bianchi (who I also don’t know) pointed out how Jimbo attacked Dot in his very last FSU interview. Jimbo took too much of his prickly, holier than thou attitude from Saban.

People other than those who had to work with him ignored it because while he was an %*%*%^, he was our %*%**%%^.
