ANOTHER New Footie Thread

Wow, the steel balls on Crystal Palace, I'll match Falcao's first goal with a Ward go ahead goal!

Jonny Evans to West Brom for £6 million, that's £1.5 million more than MUFC got for Van Persie, and that's a great deal for both clubs!

Tyler Blackett to Celtic on a year long loan! I love this kid and he already has 11 senior squad matches under his belt, and now he'll get first team and Euro experience!

Wait, that Pool loss was at home 3-0? WOW

Yes!!!

A lot of points being dropped today by the big clubs, and United is in for a battle tomorrow in Wales.

City looks extremely tough, and when United gets them at Old Trafford, United will be coming off a mid-week Moscow trip, thankfully for United, it will be a Sat/Wed/Sunday schedule.

Time to give Timmy Howard some love!

Yeah i got into Everton a while back during a Liverpool visit. I have family who live at Arsenal so they're the big team i follow most closely. Might go see a CL game in November at Emirates. It's just hard to take Everton seriously.

Looks like Man City will have it locked up by Christmas.

It's definitely City's title to lose now. If they still have a similar lead after the early UCL games (i.e. end of Sept/early Oct), I'll declare the title chase over. I already think Chelsea's done. United has a chance because they're close despite having not played well through 3 PL fixtures, they're still getting results. Results > form.

Stat of the day: only 7 PL fixtures have been won by the home side thus far.

Stat of the day part 2: Chelsea's got 4 points when finishing a match with 10 men, but 0 points when finishing with 11 through 4 fixtures. Maybe I should like the colour red a bit more? Nah, didn't think so. :p

Swansea at home is not a fun match to have to play. They're giving the Mancs the business 2-1 w/18 min to go.

Great fans there in Wales!

Swans have some serious mojo when they see that red and gold United logo. Do they have voodoo witch doctors with dolls on the sideline?

'Pewl, Mancs, and Chelski all lose and Tottenham drop points, to boot...all while the Goons win (albeit ugly).

Great weekend in the Prem!

Go Gunners!!!

My son, a Red Devil fan, tried to blame the rain. I had to remind him it rained on both teams. Then he went off on the officiating. I have to admit he might have a point, since Howard Webb has retired.

No move to Madrid for De Gea. Wow. Probably should start playing for ManU then, eh?

Arsene Wenger in Paris allegedly yesterday. That SOB better not come back to the Emirates empty-handed...but he will.

I'm not getting my hopes up. He will probably sign some 16 year old prospect who he will immediately send out on loan to Southend.

Im glad United will lose de Gea for 0, serves them right. But madrid now has a keeper morale problem, and Navas played great first two games.

Arsenal, i do not get it.

Whatever priorities Wenger has, winning the premier league clearly isn't one of them. I just read a graph in the Daily Mail that Arsenal ranks 15th among premier league clubs for summer spending. Among the many clubs they are behind are Watford, Bournemouth, and Sunderland.

Arsene was just in Paris visiting friends/family I'm sure. After the Benzema talks fell through he just threw up the smoke screen of Cavani to try and appease fans. I honestly don't think he had any intention of signing anyone. He needed a CB, DM & F, and came away with none, and the striker was the only position there was even a rumor he might sign someone.

At the end of last season Arsenal had a squad to contend for the title. All the other top teams, especially City, strengthened their teams while Arsenal sat back and said we are still good enough. Yes, Cech is a big upgrade, but not enough. Time for us Gooners to be happy with getting out of the CL group stage and making top 4 again...nothing more, nothing less...again.

De Gea will sign an extension with United before the end of Octobaer. From all accounts that I've read, Real dropped the ball on the one and did not start negotiations until that final day and the Spanish officials even extended the deadline by a few minutes so that the transfer would have gone through.

Rooney is now England's all time scorer. Welbeck scored too, I thought he was out for a good amount of time.

The Netherlands are done, unbelievable.

Welbeck wasn't on the England squad for the most recent qualifiers. He had a knee procedure and is out until at least Christmas. Depending on who you listen to, he will be out anywhere between Thanksgiving and the entire season.

The Netherlands still have a shot to make third place in their group, and get into the playoff to make Euro 2016, but it is a long shot. Talk now is their coach is going to be let go and they are looking for a replacement.

Sorry, read the wrong box score.

Blind just came on as the coach for the Dutch, and their climb is as tough as the Swiss Alps, they trail Turkey by two points now and have Kazakhstan (away) and the Czechs (home) left while Turkey has the Czechs on the road and Iceland at home. The Czechs and Iceland will be battling for #1. If the Dutch had beaten Turkey, they would have been up by 4 points with a game against Kazakhstan still left. They are screwed and done, IMO. What a sad finish to to a classy, glorious team.

Just found out I'm going to Barcelona for work the first week of November.

As fate would have it, Barca play at home on Wednesday night in the Champions League vs Bate Borisov, and again on Sunday vs Villarreal in La Liga. Both matches overlap my stay!

I checked and there are pretty reasonably priced tix available for both matches.

So I'm going to the Camp Nou bitches!!!

Nice!

BTW, De Gea just signed a 4 year extension with a club option for a 5th year!

My jealousy knows no limits, sir.

Today is a prime example of why Arsenal NEEDED to sign a striker during the transfer period. They should be up on Stoke by at least 4 or 5 goals right now, but they just don't have anyone who can put the ball in the back of the net. We are in the 81st minute and I still wouldn't be shocked to see a 1-1 draw by the time this is over.

What a dichotomy of halves for United and the Scousers. The first half was absolutely craptastic. The second half, well, the complete opposite.

Some things:

1) Welcome back, Dave... glad to have you around.

2) Ashley Young's entrance completely changed the pace and feel of the match.

3) Fellaini should never be played up top as striker again. That was rough to watch.

4) defense is looking good again - not since Rio and Vidic were patrolling back there

5) Benteke... wow.

6) Martial... another wow. And what a way to announce yourself.
