ANOTHER New Footie Thread

I heard that Mourhino has never had a good third season at a club. At least he is consistent.

I wouldn't say that. In his first spell at Chelsea, he won both the League Cup and FA Cup and only lost he league b/c of Cech's head injury (out ~ 3 months) with backup Cudicini also out for a stretch at the same time. Also lost in UCL semis.

If you didn't see the Leicester/AV match, you missed a great one.

LC down 2-0 w/30 minutes to go come back and score 3-in a row to win.

Mehraz is a friggin' talent! Holy crap! Who is this guy and where did he come from?

It's all about the Tinker Man. :)

Arsenal with a great chance to kick Chelsea while theyre down next week.

Leicester in 2nd is just weird but fun to watch

I'm telling you Mahrez from LC is one of the most exciting players I've seen in all of football in a while. Totally out of nowhere. The guy is sick!

Damn, I don't even have a feeling about the CL match today aside from just being torn up over the Luke Shaw injury. He started off so great this season too. I just hope he can heal and rehab and get back to being a solid player and not a career ender.

I didn't see the match, just read that he had a "bad" injury. What happened?

And the Manc clubs did not have a good showing today.

Ronaldo with a hattie after his 5-goal performance over the weekend. 8 goals in two matches...I don't care what the competition is, that's flatly absurd. Is it possible he's under-rated?

Oh man...just read about it. Double leg fracture. Gosh, that's bad. Was it a compound fracture to boot?

Poor kid. :(

It was bad. It looked like it probably was a compound fracture but it didn't come through his high socks but you cold see the jagged outline of the flopping bone(s). He was driving with the ball, good head of steam, and a PSV player came in for a tackle which looked like it would just cause a dispossession at first, but it looked like (in slow motion) that the defender's trailing leg came through Luke's leg.

Kind of a freak accident because at first look it didn't look incredibly bad, but on slow motion you see the leg broken. Just really sucks as he busted his ass to get fit and find his form... he's actually been one of the most consistent and highest rated players (imo) each match this campaign.

United issue Luke Shaw statement
Luke Shaw underwent surgery on his injury on Tuesday night and will remain in hospital in Eindhoven to continue his early recovery.

Manchester United are grateful for the excellent care he is receiving and would like to thank everyone who has sent messages of support.

A further update will be provided in due course.

I also read that the bone did not pierce the flesh.

Haven't seen any games.

My father in law passed away Sunday morning and my 16 year old son passed away on Monday morning, Couldn't pull myself to watch the United game without my little buddy.

Oh my god, Manch, I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss. I don't even have any words but know that you will be in our thoughts and if we can provide some distraction or support for you that we're here.

I'm so sorry for your loss, my friend.

I've been so distraught over this since I read your post yesterday, Manch.

Still have no words, and wish beyond wish there was something I could do to be of any help to you and your family.

God bless you and your family.

Good Lord, Manch...I've been praying fro your father-in-law for months. What happened with your son??

He couldn't handle the pain of losing his grandmother in March and now his grandfather and he took A LOT of pills and we couldn't wake him up. I will never get the look of pale skin and blue lips out of my head again. He was revived, probably after a couple hours of no oxygen and breathed with the help of a machine until we said our goodbyes. We watched the end of the Newcastle/West Ham game when I asked the doctor to shut the ventilator off and he passed a few minutes later.

My wife is hysterical and I am a mess, and my 13 year old daughter is pissed off at the world. His wake is tonight and I can't stop throwing up.

Man...I offer my most sincere thoughts and prayers. I have a daughter who has made a couple of attempts on her own life...I can't imagine how I'd cope if she'd been successful. Be strong...You have many behind you.

Everything went well last night and I handled it pretty good. This morning I had to stop by the funeral home and pick up the flowers and he was still there. I was by myself, got the flowers and went over to him to say goodbye again and that I love him and had a complete meltdown. They had to call my wife to come get me. I am destroyed by this. I miss him so much and I have a real hard time puttng a game on because when something happens I start to get up to yell upstairs and ask him if he was watching that.

Honestly Manch, i don't feel like watching football either since I read your news.

It's pretty much all I've been able to think about for the last couple of days. So strange too because I only know you as an anonymous message board poster, but on no less than three occasions I've broken down and completely lost it over the last two days., thinking about what you are going through.

I wish I could say something besides "I'm so sorry."

Just remember, we're here for you Manch. I'm sure many of us have our own families/children and fear what you're going through more than anything.

1. Gabriel's an idiot and deserved to be sent off.

2. Costa is a such a little bitch. He should've been sent off (or at least gotten his first yellow) for his bitch moves on Koscielny...and then his extracurricular on Gabriel would've been 2nd yellow.

3. Match was just starting to get interesting too. Now Walcott will have be taken off and Arsenal have to play for the one point. Idiot! (Gabriel)

4. Sanchez and Ozil were nowhere to be found the entire first half. Very, very disappointed in them.

5. I predict Chelsea win this match at least 2-0, probably 3-0 w/Arsenal getting thoroughly embarrassed in the 2nd half.

Watching this game reminded me of an FSU (Arsenal) vs. UM (Chelski) game from years ago. Continual instigation and "thuggery".

Gabriel was an idiot. He wasn't even involved in the incident from the start and got roped into it. I actually wish after he received the red card the Arsenal players would have let him go because I honestly believe he would have gone and beat the shite out of Costa.

Costa should have been sent off for the elbow to the neck, hands to the face, slap to the face, then chest bump to Kos, and all he got was a yellow. Then in the second half he went after Ox and nothing. He has officially risen to the heights of Suarez in my book regarding players I think are douche bags.

As for the play, the first 42 minutes were great. Both teams had their chances and it was shaping up to be a great second half. Instead Arsenal collapsed back into a shell and never really had a chance.

And don't even get me started on Cazorla and his yellow cards.

Guys, I want to thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. This is more difficult than I could ever have imagined. My son was the love of my life, he was born on my birthday after years of my wife trying to have a baby. It might be bad to say, or maybe I am just a little biased right now, but I loved him more than anything else in this world combined.

Everyone in the community has been great. I am between jobs and we didn't have any life insurance on him, but someone started a Gofundme account and that is going to cover about 75% of his funeral costs right now. My FIL had a small life insurance policy to cover his costs, so hopefully there is a little left on that and we can use the balance to cover the rest of my son's expenses.

The tough part is that there was no note and I will never know why, and that is really, really bothering me because he knew that we loved him to no end.

United plays this morning, and I couldn't bring myself to watch Tuesday's UCL match. I am going to attempt to try to watch today's match, but I am in tears just thinking about it right now, so I am not sure if I can watch MUFC just yet.

I am on Facebook if anyone wants to reach out privately. I did not post this in the Locker Room because there's a chance that some of the morbid f*cks over there would turn the notice into a "suicide is a coward's way out" type of debate or some other shit like "if I did my job as a parent"....... you know how it can get over there.

Everyone's thoughts and prayers have gotten us through, so far, so I thank all of you again, from the bottom of my heart!

Manch - continued prayers to you and your family.

I'd like to find you on Facebook. How can I do so?

Also, can you please place the link to the Go Fund Me account? I'd like to contribute.

It wasn't my intention to seek donations, I was just showing my thanks at what the community did, and paying for his services was a huge worry for us.

Les, thank you so much for all your kind words and intentions! and that goes to everyone here. I don't know you guys either, but I have felt your kindness and when I have started to feel really bad, I came here and read the kind words from people that I have never met, but in a way, feel like I know most of you!

Scott - I wish I could've written a check for the whole thing!

As for Facebook, I couldn't find you on there using the info you listed.

If/when you're back on there, if you'd like to look me up, my name is Matt Parks, but I'm listed as "Mateo Parques Tallahassee."

Just got in as Martial bagged his second goal.

Someone that I don't know left a card, a big basket of chocolate chip cookies and banana bread on my doorstep! We had to ask people to stop making food for us because we have so much, but I joked they can make all the chocolate chip cookies they want! People have been awesome.

My wife saw your donation and when I told her that I thought it was you, she cried, not believing that people we don't know from Warchant want to help.

I thank you in every possible way, you are a great person!

That Depay/Martial combo has me watering at the mouth for years to come! Both are very young, yet composed and poised.
