I am torn between Vue or switching to Dish. Dish will save me $70/month and give me locals which some of you seem to have issues with.
I have a Roku TV as my main tv in the living room and a Roku 3 in another room. They are essentially the same as far as processing power. As far as picture quality and speed, it's great on both. However, Roku's Vue app does not have a guide, so you basically have to select from thumbnails and press back to that page to get out of what you're watching and choose something else. If I were starting from scratch, I'd choose a different streaming device for Vue. I've heard good things about Amazon Fire TV box, Apple TV's latest version, and the best is supposedly Nvidia Sheild, but its like $200.For those of you who use playstation vue what device to you watch it on? Strange how the interface for Roku does not have a guide. Was planning on watching it that way We might have to run our PS4 or firestick through our receiver to get the sound working in surround sound.I use it daily on my PS4, fantastic quality and multimedia remote makes it more like using regular TV with guide button, etc.
We also use Amazon Fire TV box (original version) and lately it's been slow to start up the PS vue app.
Roku is my least favorite interface for PS Vue. The menus are different than all other versions and it's pretty slow. Ditto for Apple TV, for that matter.
We've had service for 7 months now and I love it. DVR is fantastic, no space limit (but does have 30 day limit) and it records full series without issue.
On demand content is great, too
Do you still need to commit to a contract with Dish? To me, that's the biggest drawback. I love not having to lease any equipment or hassle with changing rates every year.I am torn between Vue or switching to Dish. We do watch some stuff on CBS too.You can check your local channels by plugging in your zip code. It seems that ABC and FOX are the two main locals available in most areas. I mainly care about ABC because of football. The other stations are available via On-Demand.
Their deal is 2 years locked in at that rate. So if I pull the trigger yes it would be for 2 years.Do you still need to commit to a contract with Dish? To me, that's the biggest drawback. I love not having to lease any equipment or hassle with changing rates every year.
Vue is great for football because you get full access to ESPN and the ESPN app.You can check your local channels by plugging in your zip code. Over the air is great for HD and free but we lose the DVR capabilities.I get cbs and fox in Atlanta. The rest I pick up with an antenna. ABC sports are also available on WatchESPN.

About the CBS app, can you watch shows as they happen or do you have to wait a period of time? You may still end up cheaper with Vue and the CBS access app.
There are options for recording OTA, but require a little more investment. I don't watch much network tv, so it's not a deal-breaker for me. ABC games will be available on demand on WatchESPN after they've aired. CBS and FOX I do get with Vue. NBC doesn't show anything I care to record. I do actually have a cheap OTA tuner that you can attach a hard drive to and record. I got it years ago from Amazon, but I've seen similar boxes at Walmart recently. Feels more like setting an old-fashioned VCR than a cable or satellite DVR, but it works. I wasn't finding much need for it, so it's gathering dust now.Over the air is great for HD and free but we lose the DVR capabilities.
If you truly watch all those channels, then you need to stick with Comcast. Cutting the cord is more about not paying for what you don't want. Sounds like you're happy with the deal you have, which is great.Ok here's my question ....
I pay 200 a month for Comcast Xfinity - all channels and pay channels, 3 rooms with DVR, phone line, and good internet. (and I pay for Netflix). Content on all TVs and easy, same interface on each TV.
How much would I truly save without losing content and convenience?
I use it on an Amazon Fire TV, not the stick but the box. A few on hear mentioned that the Stick, the older one, had trouble with PS Vue. I've not had any issues with my Amazon Fire TV.
I find Vue very easy to use. I like the cloud DVR feature. I like the ability to watch a show on demand or as DVR. The DVR component can be a bit tricky if you're used to traditional TiVo style DVR. Instead of setting a show to record, you set it as a "My Show" and that means that every time that show comes on it will record the show and save it for a period of time on the cloud. This can be confusing for some people if they're used to a traditional DVR. However, once you get to used to it its easy to use.

This week is my last week after 20 years with Directv. I have decided to give PS Vue a try. Signed up for the 64.99 plan, and after a week free I get an email that they are raising the price to $74.99 for the top plan making it $5-10 more than other services. Would be interesting to see how this goes for people looking for the cheapest route to streaming.
I am still saving plenty and you can cancel at any time so will give this a go for a bit and see how we like it. The interface is beautiful on the PS4, but not so much on the Roku. Also they don't have digital dolby sound on the PS4 surprisingly. I do get HBO Now is available in digital dolby so will be watching GoT on there. Other than OTA, is there any way to watch college football streaming via ABC?
Playstation gave me the "old" price until November. So there is that.I was disappointed to see the price has gone up. I'll now be paying $39.99 for the same service I was paying $29.99 before. I have started to explore other options, right now DirecTV Now is looking like an option for me, however, not having DVR is a deal breaker for me. I did sign up for a 7 day trial and I'll see if I like it. I'm looking at Hulu and YouTube to see how their streaming services pan out.

That's fantastic! You get access to ESPN app when you subscribe to Vue. Should get you the ABC games.
I think @dmm5157 can probably answer that one.How bad is the lag with these streaming devices? If I'm not able to watch a game with my close friends and were texting back and forth I don't want to be three minutes behind of the live action.
The DVR feature is what sets it apart from the other. I just cannot watch TV any other way.I was also disappointed to see that the price for Vue is going up to 39. May have to think about switching to something else once the price increase kicks in.
Directv Now is a no go until they offer a DVR so I may look at YouTube TV which I heard is about to be launched in Atlanta.

The lag can vary in length but there always is some lag. In my experience it can be a few up to a few minutes behind live action. I have gotten quite a few texts about plays before I see them happen.

So, after the Directv service ended Saturday we were full in on Playstation Vue.
Could not pause the live tv show for more than 4-5 minutes then it just started playing again. Also, could not rewind very far either. Does anyone know if a tv show is added to My Shows can do you do those things as well while watching live? Also, when fast forwarding, you don't see the content going by on the TV so you kinda have to guess where to stop fast forwarding.
