Smith sent down or released….Heard the Braves 1st team catcher is back today; hope he's gotten his timing back.
But what a moment for Albies! That was huge.Smith blows another save ….
We have firebugs instead of firemen in the pen...Thank God for Ozzie!Smith blows another save ….
Even though Martin got a chance over the weekend (shaky but got the outs) I get the feeling that the ex-Pirate Rodriguez will be next in line. It's been obvious all season the Braves don't have a closer. It's been a "committee" approach and Snitker needs to get away from Smith pitching solely the 9th for a while and give another guy a shot at it. It can only help raise the level of competition in the bullpen if someone wants to be "the guy".
I have that feeling as well. Give him a shot!Even though Martin got a chance over the weekend (shaky but got the outs) I get the feeling that the ex-Pirate Rodriguez will be next in line.
The alien represents my hopes:Will Smith‘s last three appearances: two blown saves, 15.00 ERA.
Smith comes in last night, well actually this morning, hits the first batter, walks the second for two on, nobody out to start the ninth … but manages to close out the inning. Could easily have blown yet another save. Don’t need a closer who keeps putting the other team in position to win the game.Haven't posted in awhile so I'll give some random thoughts:
- Soler may be the steal of the deadline
- Will Smith sucks, had a lot of luck to not blow many saves and now that luck is balancing out
- Glad we got Rodriguez, not a closer either but a solid pen arm that is under contract for two more seasons
- Re-sign Freddy!!!
- Glad D'arnaud is back, think everybody was tired of Smith
- As much grief as snit gets, credit for this team not folding after the Acuna injury
- Light at the nd of the tunnel with the bullpen, figure two of Mueller, Touki and Ynoa will move to the pen eventually when Anderson gets back
- Shame about Shane Greene not working out
And Ozzie Albies is as solid and smooth as anyone on this team can be.Haven't posted in awhile so I'll give some random thoughts:

I think he's a legit MVP candidate...We'll see how the last quarter of the season goes. And Ozzie Albies is as solid and smooth as anyone on this team can be.
Not sure why you think Soler was a steal … he came in batting .196 and is now batting …. .198Haven't posted in awhile so I'll give some random thoughts:

And then the 4th inning came along. Up by 1.5 games now.The Braves are getting lots of baserunners but squandering a lot of scoring chances.
I was enjoying watching the Dodgers pound the Mets on the Four Letter last night as that helped solidify the Braves' position on top of the division standings. Then I thought about just how strong L.A. looks (even with Mookie Betts currently on the IL but thought to return soon) and wished to the baseball gods that if Atlanta can make the postseason, we can avoid them somehow. 😯
The Brewers ain't no bargain either! 😮Now, here's the funny thing. The Dodgers could be a Wild Card team if the Giants win the division. If the Dodgers win the Wild Card game, they get the Giants in the first round of the play-offs while the Braves and Brewers could match up.
And don't forget Matzek coming in and pitching out of a bases loaded jam.Nice five-game win streak…. TCB. Kudos to SMITH for a clean 9th inning. Ynoa looked very good, and Riley continues with his terrfic season.
Will Smith even looked great closing it out last night...Had to crack open one last beer to celebrate. (Like I need an excuse....)Up by 2.5 now over the Phils and 4.5 over the stinking Mets, as they continue their downward spiral.
The go-ahead run came to the plate in the 9th. I watched the whole game and was really sweating it out. I've seen innings like that before when you just can't get an out. One of the hits was a nubber off the end of the bat that rolled harmlessly for an infield hit. The HR was an upper deck shot from a lefty off Smith. That's not supposed to happen.Turned last night’s game off in the bottom of the eighth with the Braves up 11 to 3. Saw the final score this morning and I was shocked to discover that the Braves won 11 to 9. Tomlin got hammered in the ninth and Will smith is brought in to get the final out. Smith gives up a home run, a walk, and a single before getting the final out. The bullpen is the main reason I don’t expect the Braves to go very far in the postseason… assuming that they make the postseason.
What is Tomlin's current ERA? He seems to provide filler innings when the Braves are way ahead or way behind, thereby not wasting another reliever's arm. Smith is a toothache of a closer.I did the same and was shocked to read about the game until seeing who they brought in. Tomlin's days are numbered in MLB and not sure how long the Braves can keep Smith around either even though his stats which are not that great seem to be much better than watching him pitch.
Agreed ... a good run against some not-so-good teams ... games they should win, and they did.A win is a win and it gives the Braves a 3.5 game lead over the Phillies.
