Braves 2021

What could make you possibly think that??
It was a tongue and cheek comment to lead into a battle cry for winning the WS. Hilltopper had a great post and I had forgotten several of those points he made so maybe there is more to it, lol.

My question was asked with complete sarcasm... It's clearly obvious that MLB has it in for Atlanta simply from the All Star game being taken away. Told my ol' lady today that if the Braves can somehow win the whole thing, it would be the biggest middle finger ever.

Joc referred to himself as a "bad bitch" for wearing pearls during a baseball game. Maybe.........I'm not sayin'......just sayin'. NTTAWWT
The guy has a gorgeous wife and a daughter, so either he's a switch hitter off the field or has gone to great lengths to cover things up.

Was that a hit-and-run or did Duvall make yet another base running error?

BOOM goes Freddie!

2021 NLDS Champs!

I fell asleep during commercials between the top and bottom of the 8th! I woke up and everyone is standing in the middle of the field. 🤣 We had stranded so many players during the game I was worried it was going to cost us the game. Glad to see Freddie starting to warm up again. We need him hitting. How did Smith look closing?

Smith looked great...Mowed 'em down after surrendering a leadoff bloop single.

He's from California, so who knows.....
Yeah, he looks like he could be a left-coaster (said by one who transplanted from sunny SoCal to the south 30+ years ago...). And moved on from Dodger-blue after Gibson's famous poke against the A's and that Series win...but once O'Malley was gone and Lasorda made his exit, I lost interest. May be a fair-weather fan for that, but the Dodgers of my youth (Koufax, Drysdale, Willie D, and then Cey, Garvey, Russell and Pedro Cerrano Guerrero) took the fire. 'Where have you gone, Carl Fur-ri-il-lo, Chavez Ravine turns its lonely eyes to you, oo-oo-ooo...' Sorry, couldn't resist. And Bob Welch left for a signing career, so what's left? Oh wait, wrong Bob Welch...am just feelin' that sentimental gentle wind, blowin' through my life again. We're one step closer to the WS...;)

As a kid I was a Dodgers fan and since I played 1st base Steve Garvey was my guy. I'm not exactly sure how the Dodgers became my team living in the south other than maybe a statement against my dad who was a devout Braves fan who would watch them on our only TV every single night. In later years I appreciated how he stood by a team who seemed to lose every single night of the week and never waver his fandom. I suppose he got the last laugh now that I'm the old man watching the Braves every single night.

Its not the years, my friend, its the mileage...:D And I remember the days when a Dodger dog, a bag of salted peanuts and a beer didn't require me to take out a personal loan...no boiled peanuts out there (that I ever knew of). Some things/delicacies folks on the West Coast just don't get.

Lessons to learn the hard way:

1) Never, EVER wear Dodger blue to a Giants game (at Candlestick Park).
2) Never go to a Dodgers/Giants game at Dodger stadium with friends who are die-hard Giants fans AND have the spine/nerve/huevos to sit in the section where the wives of Dodger players sit - no matter how good the seats or how cheap they were to get.
3) never let the hot girl you're with at a Dodgers/Giants game (who happens to be a overly enthusiastic Dodger fan, and violates Rule #1), have a cold beer and proceed to talk trash about the Giants in a section of folks clad in orange and black...better to just stay at home with her and let her wear as much (or as little) blue as she wants and watch the game on cable.

Isn't Baseball great...?

Baseball without boiled peanuts is like sex without a partner.

What a year for SF to have only see it go down in a first round defeat. Was hoping Buster would get the win.

That was a tough loss for SF. Advantage for the Braves: home field and LA has to travel to Atlanta for Saturday's game after a hard-fought series with the Giants.

Let's hope the Braves aren't rusty at the plate. And they exhibit some patience to make the Dodger pitchers work. Way too many times in the Milwaukee series did the Braves hitters start off with an 0-2 count after 2 pitches (watched a strike on pitch 1 and swung wildly at a ball outside the zone on pitch 2). They can't afford to do that in this series.

As good as Max Scherzer is, he drives me crazy just watching him on TV with his fidgety mannerisms on the mound. I can only imagine how his routine might affect batters.
