Braves 2021

Some days you're the bug and some days you're the windshield... Unfortunately the Braves appear to be the bug today. 🙁

We swatted that fly with a sledgehammer but ended up with the injury bug. Not a dominate team in the NL east at this point and we just have to survive the next few weeks while we get healthy. Yankees are currently struggling and maybe we can split or get a couple of wins this week on the road.

Did they ever say how far Freddie hit that 1st inning smash? He absolutely crushed that hanger.

With the injuries and slow starts at the plate to be 7-9 isn't bad.

Still need to find bullpen help and replace Riley at third.

7-9 isn't as bad as it could be. This team will come around. Expect to win the division with around 90 wins.

I haven't seen every game, but I thought Riley has been doing a pretty good job at third base. I've seen him make some good plays out there and he has a strong arm to first. I know he had one throwing error in Chicago. Hopefully his bat will come around.

Freddie has had to make some plays and dig a handful of his throws so far, which is his job, but one would like to have better throws. Riley is surprisingly quick and covers the position well and has a strong arm but can get wild when he is rushed. I suppose we got spoiled with Josh Donaldson at 3rd.

Taking a baseball to the chin woke him up.

Good win tonight. It wasn't easy and it looked like Luke was going to give them the game but they manage to survive and get the W!

Hats off to Kole Calhone RF for the AZ for realizing on the spot the situation he was evolved in and making that moment a special evening to some kid watching his first MLB game. Sports is in desperate need of moments like this. There was a video where Aaron Judd plays catch with some kid in the stands with a glove before the inning begins several years back. Too bad we don't spend time appreciating these moments more in sports.

Those were two miserable games for Atlanta- a one-hit shut out and a no-hit shut out. Add to that two poor starts for Braves pitchers and it made for an awful 50% capacity crowd experience.

They better snap out of this funk. Bunch of guys really struggling right now.

Anyone else find Morton a little frustrating? He usually looks dominant for three or four innings... but then has one inning where his game seems to fall apart. He gave up five earned runs in 5 1/3 innings tonight.

I did not realize the Cubs had picked up Winkler and he appears to be doing fairly well for them. Pitching coach matters and the Braves will continue to waste a lot of valuable resources and time with Kranitz on staff.

Great to see the lineup hitting it all around the park last night. They must have read Jon's post. :p Hopefully we can continue to build momentum in this series.

It was a game full of good pitching and hitting. I agree with Glavine's post game remarks this would have been the perfect moment to allow Ian to work into the 8th inning but lost coaching moment aside this game was emblematic of how you expect this team to play. Hopefully Ynoa continues his growth out on the mound and gives us another great pitching performance this evening and allows the Braves to return back to .500 ball.

🍻 Here's to .500 ball. 🍻

Last 3 games have looked a lot better, offense seems to be coming around.
"...there's a lotta talent on this club, Charlie. The veterans are starting to play back to form and the rookies are developing faster than I thought. There's two or three potential all-stars in there. I think we're a first division team right now."

Why do you have as a designated hitter a guy batting .050????

For the 11 Mil they signed Smyly for that would cover the salary for Melancon, Duvall and Darren O’Day
I'm so confused on picking him up. He hasn't done much in a long time and we are throwing 11 million at him based on AA's opinion that he has a lot of upside. Well AA we could really use that "upside" about now with our current two decent pitcher rotation.

With this pitching staff .... it’s starting to look like it will be a long season ... a Slight reason to be optimistic? Everyone else in their division looks just as mediocre.

We're going to have to make a couple moves addressing out staff if we want to compete this year.

If you are talking fantasy baseball, don't do it. He is done, and has been for some time. Speaking as a veteran of the fantasy wars.

I believe when it's all said and done, the Braves and the Yankees will be in the play-offs. Don't forget Fried and Soroka are just a week or two away from being back.

Unless the current starters who they'll replace in the rotation once they return can give the pen a big boost, the Braves will still struggle. You know, they ain't hitting either.

My understanding is that Soroka is weeks away.

Top three in the lineup were 1-12 today. If Ozuna is not hitting he’s a liability given his weak arm. Riley had a very good series at the plate.

I wasn't vert clear in my comment. I was puzzled on why AA had brought him in at such a high price.

What a start to a season Ynoa is having, lol. 2.36 ERA and 2HR (1 GS) with a .385 BA and 6 RBIs. Hopefully Fried can return to form tonight who had a rocky start and some bad injury luck so far this season. Speaking of bad injury luck it looks like we are hitting the Nats at the right time in their pitching rotation combined with having their share of bad injury luck. We need Fried to have a big night in the worst way.
