Wife and I going tomorrow(thursday-sunday)...we have been seberal (geesh am I drunk already?...should say "several") times but I am always looking for tips on places to go, things to see, restaurants etc. thx

Staying at the Monteleone.
Doing the WW2 museum Friday.
Friday night dinner at Arnaud's

Believe it or not I had no idea it was valentines day weekend when I made the reservations.

Wow...that looks very nice...closed on weekends so I won't make it this time but thank you!

Crawfish four ways, crabmeat au gratin and bread pudding w/ice cream to end it...crazy good. First time I went I asked the cook to marry me lol

Thank you all above for the recs.

We had a great long weekend...the highlight was the WW2 museum...as you can imagine it was overwhelming. Too much to try to describe..we were there for 4.5 hrs and could have stayed longer. If in New Orleans take time to visit this.

Ate oysters at ACME twice as about 100 yards from our hotel.
Arnauds for our fancy dinner.
A lunch at "Cornet" corner of Bourbon and St Peter street...on the balcony so could people watch folks on Bourbon street below.
A night of Jazz at Fritzel Pub.

Just a really nice time.

Saw this too late, but for the next time anyone is going...

Superior Seafood has/had the #2 ranked oyster shucker in the US, as of a couple years ago. I think they have multiple locations and don't recall the street of this particular location, but know it is on the green line for the passenger rail/trolley.

Buttermilk Drop Donuts was highly recommended by locals. Forget Yelp and ask locals is the lesson I learned. They have multiple locations, as well. The one we went to was a little hoodish, but it was the best sweets I've ever had. Not just the best donuts I've ever had, but sweets, in general. Get all of the "buttermilk drops" they have on-hand. :) They're basically an over-sized donut hole, about the size of a racquetball. All of the donuts were amazing though.

Tableau is great place for some Creole in the quarter. Baccanal in Bywater great for drinks. Cafe Beignet next to police station in the quarter for beignets.

I don't know how they are now, but two hurricanes sure got me going back in the day after a Game against Tulane ... I was invited to leave after I climbed on the bar and danced.:p
