Hurricane Irma

I'm not a Mike Scott fan, but it seems like he's done an admirable job of keeping a firm hand on the steering wheel throughout the Irma ordeal. His job is about to get tougher.

My first hurricane was Cleo way back when.

Back then it was cool as the landcrabs by the thousands would walk heading for higher ground

When they walked you better get ready!

Curious to see what the 5pm update shows. Looking at the radar it certainly seems that the eye has formed back up really well and that the storm looks stronger.

Picked up a generator from Grainger this morning.
That alone should keep power on in my neighborhood.

Looked like more gas stations out of fuel than with while out today.

What kind of boat? Personally, I would take it out if that is doable. I think the panhandle is going to get more than originally projected.
I have a 24 ft center console. I have a friend pulling it out. Still not sure if necessary, but it's looks more and more like the right move.
The forecast that RTM just put up, has one model showing PC as landfall. Crap, it would probably be cat 9 by the time it moved across the middle of the gulf

Definitely the right move based on today's developments. Good luck to you. Enjoy your posts. Godspeed.

Well.. just got off the phone with my friend that pulled my boat out. Unless he's screwing with me, pulling my boat out turned into a fiasco. The trailer came off of the truck and punched a hole in his tailgate. Bent the trailer and scuffed the boat. He feels awful, and I feel terrible that he is distraught over it.

Hopefully he is joking.

Can't wait till it really cranks up, Not!

Powers still on

Good time to pick up all the trash around your dock.
All I see is Conch Salad, Conch Fritters, Cracked Conch and Kalik beers for all my rowdy friends for days.

Shes officially moving NW now in eyewall replacement. Honestly at this point we'd better pray they're right about the track, it hugs the coast and comes in to the east of Tally. If it deviates 20 degrees or so to the west it would not only keep strength but hammer Tally in the NE quadrant.

Made the most difficult decision of my life in Dallas at 9:00 this morning. Possibly while still a little drunk. We left Atlanta last Sunday after the football game to visit family in Dallas and Austin before our scheduled return to Atlanta this afternoon. I had travel booked to be in Boston on Monday for our acquisition orientation. I was able to change that to the Dallas office on Friday. Cool stuff happening with this part of my life but that's another story. So, I drank too much celebrating in Deep Ellum and ate way too much brisket at Pecan Lodge.

Woke up five times throughout the night due to a migraine and pissed off stomach. Took three showers because it was the only thing that allowed me to sleep a little. We decided that we would return home to Gainesville as planned. My wife, 11 month old daughter, my mother-in-law and I boarded our flight in Dallas at noon. Landed at 3:30. Stopped a few times gathering supplies along the way. Made it home in time to see the favorable update at 11:00.

Probably the most memorable week I'll experience in my lifetime. Almost forgot. I think we might be moving to Austin in a few years. Business opportunities in Dallas are unreal.

"Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Brock Long was even more blunt when asked about people who didn't heed evacuation orders in the Keys.

"If you didn't evacuate the Keys, you're on your own until we can actually get in there and it's safe," he told CNN Saturday. "The message has been clear: The Keys are going to be impacted. There is no safe area within the Keys. And you put your life in your own hands by not evacuating.""
