Hurricane Irma

The whole state less the panhandle is covered by irmas bands and it's just now hitting the keys

Incredible!

At 7 mph we're gonna have these effects for two days more due to its size

Tornado touched down in Oakland park last night

Hope the Funky Buddha Brewery is OK.

Better hope that's the path it takes, the GFS and NHC have the eye passing over Tally. It's been a wet summer there to make matters worse.
I am hoping it weakens due to some dry air and sheer. If it does not and if it hugs the warm water west coast and makes a turn up through the Apalachee Bay into Tallahassee it will be worse than Kate, which made last year's storm seem like not much.

Almost seems as though it's moving more due north in the last few satellite images.
Saw that...I am actually mildly concerned now here inTally. Where I live, flood danger is negligible, but there are trees around.

I'm riding it out in Stuart. I was really sweating for a couple of days but this morning we have 50 mph gusts - cannot complain one bit.

In fact a female friend has some damage to her porch so I may parlay that into a little rescue/relief mission if you know what I'm sayin'

That's the discussion on the site I peruse, the shear is strong the further north you go, so let's hope there's a weakening north of Tampa as opposed to a strengthening.

Yep same here. The wife made me get hotel reservations three hours north of here on Tuesday. Thought she was crazy. We are leaving this afternoon. We have three kids so not worth it. Next year our collective bonuses goes into cutting some trees down and buying one f those kick arse generators that power house and kick on automatically.

We left Tally yesterday. We have a limited mobility 88 year old with us, so we headed to N'awlins. Praying for all those hunkering down in the storm's path.

It's tough pulling Miami weather stuff as the Miami pornstars/residents don't want to concede any selfie bandwidth. Every third post is some chica posing in her bra and panties

*You really can't help yourself, can you?

Saw this: Days between the last US major hurricane landfalls (Category 3+):

Wilma (2005) to Harvey (2017): 4,323
Harvey to Irma (2017): 16

We planned to evacuate and as the storm moved more West we would have evacuated to exactly where the storm is going. Now that we decided to stay the county has declared a mandatory evacuation and imposed a 1900-0700 curfew. Now I get safety and I am sure there is a little Mathew hang over; but the outer ring of the cone of death doesn't come within 300 miles of us. Not to mention since the mandatory evacuation was called so late there is really no where to go, unless you drive up to VA or farther and they told us about the curfew at 1845. Oh well since we prepared as if getting a direct hit from a CAT 3 or 4 was able to stain my deck, have painted our 1/2 bath, getting super organized and getting rid of a lot of junk we haven't needed for years. Added bonus is it is like 60 degrees an a nice breeze.

I hope Mike Seidel is getting hazardous duty pay. It's getting extreme down in Miami.

The videos of Miami posted above don't look too bad considering .

Change of plans. No east coast but away from flood zones. The predicted storm surge is sure to engulf our house. Not sure how the trees around the house will hold up. Some of the cats are not thrilled with the move. Some are enjoying exploring the new digs.

Over Fla bay
Did it jog more north?

I'm getting texts from people getting damages to be on my repair list already

And the worst is 6-10 hours away

We just had a boat rescue performed by the sheriff's office. Two idiots decided to ride it out on a sailboat and lost their dinghy.

Folks observing from shore called it in because when they tried to talk them out of it earlier, the dummies told them they didn't know how to swim.\

Doing some cooking with Steely Dan up loud on the music box....glanced at the mooted TV and they are saying at least one crane in miamah has succumbed to the inevitable.

We think he's an idiot...He's going to get. swept away! (Notice they put the black guy in the worst spot to come. Reminds me of the South Park movie.)
There was s different guy in Naples last night but he started freaking out. I wonder if he got replaced.

For those of you in Tallahassee. We are expecting 85-95 mile winds Monday morning. You all remember last year. Hermine was a tropical storm with winds 65 mph. Are you all staying or going?
