Proof Brewing Company in Tally is giving away its purified water. Bring your own jug.

Starting to get real bad/uneasy feeling about this Storm if the new forecast comes out more Westward as some are saying..it will be the biggest Natural Disaster in History and when you combine that with Harvey I am sure some Insurance Companies will not be able to pay their Claims

Population-wise there's nothing much right up the middle until you hit Lake Wales or so. Isn't that track better than if it was to go up either coast?

Most of the damage from Harvey was flood-related and only a small percentage of them had flood insurance. The coastal areas that were hit with wind and rain were a lot less populated and, generally, not really high value. Irma probably will tax your wind insurer of last resort.

My MIL informed me it would be to the east of Orlando (they live NE of Orlando) and since they are on the weak side of the storm the winds will only be 1/3 of the strong side. Apparently she is ignoring the notion of model variance/prediction and is going to pray the storm away. So y'all don't need to worry on the central and west side of the peninsula, she has you covered. I don't get the impression they are preparing much at all. <facepalm>

The only consolation here in Tally is that we'd be on the (weaker) western side of the storm.

Well the thing is if it goes up the middle, not only the cities in the middle get smacked (orlando, ocala, gainesville, lake city), but the eastern shoreboard will get hit with harder and more devastating winds then if she actually hugged the coastline.

I hope all you knuckleheads stay safe down there. You all are part of my daily work entertainment for the week and the thought of you getting blown off this flat earth would not be cool.

I would have to others to entertain me.
Agreed. I don't want to have to find somewhere else to spend my workdays.

I've never been through a "legit" hurricane (got close but escaped Orlando as Charley was coming to town), but I couldn't imagine staying put for anything much stronger than what I sat through with SS Sandy. Seems like it'd be like a strong tornado, but for several hours, rather than a few minutes. That doesn't sound fun to me. Best of luck, and hopefully it veers off back into open water.

Curious how this will affect Tampa, if the western track holds. I just loaded 40 sandbags, and not sure why.

Does anyone know what bars would be carrying the game in Panama City? We were going to go but I have some relatives who want to stay at my facility there and we will probably stay with them.

We just got back from our cruise and drove up from Tampa today. We avoided 75 completely. Came up 19 and traffic was fairly heavy. No gas until we made it to Perry.

Most of the Harvey damage was flooding, not covered by HOI. Irma will be way more of a wind event, covered by HOI, but at large deductibles.
