The sixth-seeded Florida State women’s basketball team looks to clinch its third trip to an ACC Championship game as it faces No. 2 seed NC State in Saturday’s ACC Semifinals (2:30 p.m. on ACC Network). FSU has made championship game appearances in 2015 and 2020.

Sophomore Ta’Niya Latson is averaging 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and is shooting 53.3 percent (16-of-30) in FSU’s first two ACC Tournament games. She led FSU with 25 points in its 78-65 ACC Quarterfinal win vs. No. 3 seed Syracuse.

FSU and NC State play for the second time this season, with the first meeting resulting in an 88-80 overtime win by the Wolfpack at Reynolds Coliseum. Latson led the Seminoles with 30 points in that tightly-contested game.

Junior forward Makayla Timpson is averaging 16.0 points and 15.5 rebounds in the ACC Tournament so far. She became FSU’s single-season double-doubles record holder in the ACC second round vs. Wake Forest, picking up her 16th of the season. She added 10 points and a career-high 18 rebounds vs. Syracuse to move to 17 double-doubles this season.

Timpson now has 84 blocked shots this season. She is tied with former player Jacinta Monroe for the most blocks in a single season at FSU, needing one more to set the single-season program record.

Lot of missed shots early. Timpson picks up her 2nd foul. We don’t have the same energy as we did yesterday.

Timpson picks up her 3rd foul. This could get ugly. Need our guards to be more assertive

Tired and road game. Ladies overachieved this week. Hope they move up at least one line as they should. Expected this outcome today, unfortunately. Not impossible but really hard to get past Saturday if not in the top 4, especially here in Greensboro when you’re playing one of the big insecure 4.

Rest up, and hopefully stay relatively healthy as we await the dance invite. Team is good enough to advance past the first weekend on an even playing field with fresh legs, depending on matchups.
