I like Jason Bateman quite a bit. He can easily be a nice, likeable, aloof character then be a real prick that you want to punch in the face.
You just described most of the lockerroom.I like Jason Bateman quite a bit. He can easily be a nice, likeable, aloof character then be a real prick that you want to punch in the face.
Only complaint is that it might move a bit too fast. We’ll see how this season goes. Really enjoyed the first.
Almost like they thought they had only one season, so they rushed the arc.
As a plot device I really didn't like the time crunch Bateman was put under. He wasn't being treated as valuable as he was, by someone who truly knew his value. Putting him under a rush just makes it more likely the money would be lost.
glad they didn't drown the daughter
That’s exactly what I have thought.
They need to tone it down & slow it just a tad. Unlike the poster above, I think the beauty of Breaking Bad was the believability of it. The show stayed at a good pace & had a lot realism that gets lost in some shows these days.
Definitely some ebbs and flows in Season 2. Happy Petty and Cade are done... couldn't stand either of them.
This is really taking a Breaking Bad kind of shape to me. The last 15 minutes of this season especially. Can't wait for Season 3!
Agreed on Petty and Cade. Both drove me nuts. I'm glad Mason is gone, too.
I think I counted 3 "You have 24 hours" threats against Marty this year, the guy cannot catch a break.
I was shocked that Darlene got the better of Jacob Snell. His arc was softening on me this year, he was the more reasonable of the two.
The biggest shift in the show was Wendy taking over as the decision maker and the big balls on the show. Marty was really second fiddle this year, I really enjoyed how much they changed Wendy. She was a wet blanket last year, awful character. This year, she was shrewd, calculating, and a master manipulator. She really did most of the work to get the Casino pushed through.
Rachel had the most disappointing arc. She was a complete 180 from last year, in the wrong way.
Season 3 could be a lot of fun, could also be a complete mess.
I agree with almost all that. Really felt sorry for Jacob. Dude saw the writing, knew what his obstacle was in actually staying alive, but he was a step too slow.
Some interesting topics could be developed for Season 3.
- Does Charlotte follow Wyatt to Mizzou?
- Do they (Marty and Wendy) replace her with Ruth and Three?
- Does Frank Cosgrove (pretty lazy naming there by the writers, i.e., Ken Cosgrove from MadMen) replace the Snells as a major roadblock to getting the casino going?
- What happens with Darlene and Zeke, is that a subplot for Wendy?
- Do Wendy and Wilkes get in to bed together - yes, a dual metaphore?
- Does Petty's former co-worker/lover come looking for him?
- Rachel... is a fling with Marty enough to get her to sober up?
- Does Jonah step up and start running more of the business, or providing an additional laundering point?
Someone mentioned blue- does this whole show have a blue filter?
I really enjoyed season 2. I liked almost every episode.
Are riverboats in Missouri really that small? The casinos in tunica are massive
Definitely has a blue filter. Really hard to watch on TV outside in bright light. I had to turn brightness way way up to see the darker scenes.
Done. Guess I need to watch since I started this thread. Maybe this weeked since I’m already soured on football.@GoNolesTX and I kinda fudged up this thread with spoilers, @ggmike1992 you may want to edit title of this thread and add SPOILERS to it.

Just binged all 10 episodes today. I thought it was solid. Really sets up an intriguing season 3 (Mob v. Cartel). I could have done without the Mason and Rachel story arcs. Just seemed like filler and the writers could have gotten the same result by focusing more on the other characters and their relationships with each other.
