Thailand Cave Rescue

This is great news... listening to GMA— had to do this now, because of the inevitable monsoons.

4 made it out but divers are now done for the night. All 12 rescue divers have allegedly exited the cave and will resume rescue efforts tomorrow.

Lawd Reekis! That one graphic earlier showed the choke point to be as wide as 3 candy bars. One of the divers said he feels the rocks scrape on his back and chest, front and back of helmet, stomach, all sides of legs when shimmying through the crack.

Im not sure what theyre going through is this narrow, but hell naw. And they are going into pitch black, chocolate milk water, not the clear water shown in the gif.

%*%*# that! I’m very glad people are willing to risk that to rescue the kids, but this is one are I will gladly let someone else jump to the forefront. It makes me anxious just looking at that and I’m as laid back as they come in most forms of danger (heights, dangerous activities, wildlife, night diving in the open ocean for manta rays, LEOs pointing guns in my face, whatever). I would rather jump out of a plane armed only with a wingsuit personally readied by Ranger than attempt (no way I would make it anyways, those are pretty small Thai dudes barely squeaking by) to go through that gauntlet.

6th child rescued. The craziest thing I read today is the kids have not been reunited with their parents. And they have not told the parents which children have been rescued!! They say it is to keep the mental welfare of all the parents. I say OH HELL NO! If that were my child nothing would keep me away from that hospital.

8th child rescued with operations ending for the day. How are they determining which boys to take? It'd be so hard being one of the last remaining kids and seeing all your friends go before you.
Agreed. Though they did say it would take 3-4 days, so apparently they're on track. I would imagine those divers are incredibly exhausted each day. They probably just can't keep going.

Oh, I agree. This is definitely not an easy rescue. I hope they can finish it tomorrow with everyone coming out safely.

Has anyone seen the kid-size submarine that Elon Musk made to help with the rescue? Getting in that thing would be worse than just swimming out with the divers (for me).

Not only that, but it's not going to fit through the "choke point." Regardless, that bad boy should be finished testing just as the last boy is pulled from the cave.

That and the stress. If they bring out a kid alive they are heroes, if not, they live with that rest of their lives.

They have been so fortunate that the monsoon rains have held off. They had mentioned if they could not get them out before the rains, the caves would be flooded and delay the rescue until October!

Thai boys invited to World Cup Final...

“If, as we all hope, they are reunited with their families in the coming days and their health allows them to travel, FIFA would be delighted to invite them to attend the 2018 World Cup final as our guests,” he (FIFA President, Gianni Infantino) wrote in a letter to the head of the Football Association of Thailand.”

The graphic I saw yesterday showed that the choke points weren't under water which would have made that easier at least. Almost every cave exploration requires one area of having to push through some terrible area like that. (Worst thing I ever did though). But having to do that in the water wearing equipment without the ability to talk and hear people cheer you on would be terrible.

I read they're taking strongest first. That sounded counterintuitive to me at first, but I guess it makes sense, because theoretically you'd be more experienced with the process the more times you did it and work out as many of the kinks as possible. I guess you'd want to have the strongest kids with you first in case you ran into any complications.

Heard that they left it up to the boys to decide the order.
I suspect they've formed a brotherhood and aren't letting individual selfishness get in the way of making the best decision for the group.

There's been conflicting reports on this. Ive also seen that they took the weakest out first as well.

Hollywood’s version will be made by Peter Berg and will star Marky Mark as the heroic Brit who initially found them, though I am sure that in the movie version, he will also lead the rescue effort.
And The Rock will be the Thai Seal that dies (but miraculously revived by another Thai rescuer played by Amy Schumer).
