Yearly article- Tallahassee man missing (Mike Williams)

I am little faith here and feel the prosecution won't win. It's the same gut feeling I have about the Markel case.

I still don't see the connection that kills reasonable doubt. Sure, I think she's guilty but where is the connection that ultimately says she's guilty beyond a reasonable doubt

Well, it takes a reasonable person...

TALLAHASSEE (WCTV) -- The trial of a Tallahassee woman accused of plotting her husband's murder will start Monday, December 10.

Denise Williams is accused in the murder of her husband, Michael Williams, who disappeared while duck hunting back in December 2000.

The judge agreed Wednesday to a defense request for a 12-person jury.

Court administrators confirm 480 potential jurors have already been summoned for the case. 100 of them are expected to report on Monday.

Jury selection could last two days or more and testimony could stretch into a second week. If testimony continues into the week of December 17, the trial would overlap with the 18th anniversary of Michael Williams' disappearance.

Williams vanished December 16, 2000. His friend - and Denise Williams' future husband - Brian Winchester has confessed to shooting Michael Williams while hunting on Lake Seminole. He led investigators to his body last year, after being granted immunity by the State Attorney.

Apparently having a hard time finding a jury of people who don't know much about the case....Bringing another pool after lunch

We should go to professional juries.

I tremble at the thought of being wrongly accused of a crime and then being judged by my "peers" that actually show up for jury duty, don't lie their way out of serving or worse lie through voir dire just to get on the jury.

And I don't even want to think of the ones who are too stupid to follow most of the technical aspects of many cases...

They just had a pretty high profile case here in Houston of a man accused of strangling a man at an altercation at Denny's (maybe you heard of it). Well the first trial was hung with 11-1 to acquit and the retrial found him guilty. So after 2 trials we are basically 13-11... not exactly a slam dunk.

From WCTV's current front page story....

The prosecutor says Denise Williams and Brian Winchester’s ex-wife were lifelong friends. He claims after Winchester’s 2017 arrest, his ex-wife became a source for FDLE. He claims she got a text message from Denise Williams that said, “Tell Marcus to tell Brian that I didn’t say anything to FDLE.”

Um, how in the hell does this not directly implicate Marcus as having knowledge of the crime? How in the hell was the entire Winchester family given immunity? SOB, this is looking like exactly what I feared it was.

An entire family coverup? Marcus doesn’t have immunity?

There was a long-held belief that the "powers that be" did not want Brian's father charged with accessory after the fact, which is why they never brought a case against Denise and Brian while they were married. This appears to confirm that he was involved and had knowledge of at least the insurance fraud, if not the homicide. It was previously reported, buried in an article, that they were essentially not going to charge any Winchester family member based upon information they got from Brian. Basically, they are all going to get away with it. Keep in mind, THE WINCHESTER FAMILY knew that Brian confessed months before they told the Williams' that they had Mike's body. What does that tell you? I'm about to throw up I'm so furious.

I agree with you and @JohnnieHolmesNole . My guess is BW was able to give the state a few little nuggets to corroborate his statements. I bet they have a little more than we realize.

But it's obvious what happened, his story makes total sense. They kill him to get rich and get married, so what happened? He was killed and they got rich and married.

Brian isn't doing any favors by saying "Denise had cold feet..."
I don't think that's a big deal.

Terry Nichols got cold feet and bailed on the Oklahoma city bombing. McVeigh was the one that drove the truck there, placed it and lit the bomb. Nichols was still convicted.

if you conspire to murder and bail at the last second, that doesn't mean you're not guilty.

What a complete mess. Both are extremely guilty and need to spend their lives in prison. Both of them. I know Brian Winchester will not. But Denise should.

If this isn't the story of the popular kids from high school (football players, cheerleaders) gone wrong ....

Is there a quick cheat sheet to catch me back up to date.

I remember that the victims best friend and the victims wife had an affair and conspired to kill the victim for insurance purposes.

After they killed him, they collected the insurance money and then married.

10 years later they divorce. The wife calls the police on her ex for demostic vilolence. He is arrested and sentenced to jail. There he strikes a deal with the DA confessing to the murder of his best friend and conspiring with the victims then wife, and now his ex wife.

I don’t remember the names, can some help with clarity on that end.

And did I get any of the details wrong?

Pretty close... A couple things though.

I don't think there is any proof they had an affair before Mike was killed.

It was a little more than domestic abuse, Brian kidnapped her. He got 25 years for the kidnapping and agreed to give up the story behind Mike's murder for presumably a lighter sentence.

Murdered Guy - Mike Williams
His wife - Denise Williams
Murderer - Brian Winchester

Per the Tallahassee Democrat, the prosecution's opening statement included this bombshell:

Fuchs told the jury Winchester and Denise Williams, who is charged with her husband's murder, dated for three years prior to Mike Williams’ murder. He also said evidence will show Brian, his former wife Kathy Thomas and Denise Williams had sexual relations together in Panama City before Mike Williams was killed.

Playing devil's advocate... presumably he's getting all of this information from Brian. There wasn't text messages 20 years ago... Prosecutors can basically say anything they want in opening arguments.

Unfortunately, I'm very skeptical she will be found guilty.

Easy for her to paint the picture that Brian was obsessed and wanted her for himself.

I hope I am wrong.

Disagree. It's very obvious what happened and it will be hard for her to paint the picture that she wasn't involved.

Her not allowing Mike's mom to see Mike's daughter (now we know why per Brian). Trying to get him declared dead immediately so she could collect. Having an affair with Brian then later marrying him.

It wouldn't make sense if she was NOT involved.

She was the sole beneficiary of the millions. She had all the motive - get rich and get to be with the man she was having an affair with.

Evidence will show they were having an affair and she lied about not knowing anything about the crime (per her text/call with Brian's ex-wife)

Brian is a scumbag, but his story makes absolute sense. His story is they are both scumbags and plotted this together, that's not hard to believe.

I think they are going to get her. If not I hope one of Mike's family members takes her out.

But the struggle for me is Brian pulled the trigger (and I’m sure jurors would be thinking the same thing).

Denise assisted in the plotting of the murder and collected the insurance money (insurance fraud).. If found guilty of one or both of these what what you speculate her time in prison to be?
