Basketball Primo Spears debut can't stop FSU basketball's losing streak in loss to SMU

FSU got a boost to its depth Saturday night with Primo Spears newly eligible, but even that couldn't stop the Seminoles' losing streak as they lost 68-57 to SMU to fall to 4-5 on the season after their fourth straight loss.

Football Recruiting Four-star DE Amaree Williams enjoys 'amazing' visit to FSU

Amaree Williams was all smiles after his Florida State official visit, just days after announcing he was reclassifying to 2024.

"Amazing visit," Williams said. "Was finally able to get around some of the guys, some of the would-be teammates, possible teammates. Being able to experience that, I loved the visit."

FSU announces sixth signee in Solai Washington

FSU sports information:

Following their National Championship just one week ago, Florida State women's soccer and Head Coach Brian Pensky added a key piece to their 2024 signing class as Solai Washington has signed her letter of intent with Florida State. Washington is the sixth signee of the 2024 class and will join the Seminoles next season along with Wrianna Hudson, Emma Kirlin, Peyton McGovern, Nina Norshie and Taylor Suarez.

A forward out of Atlanta, Washington has made a splash both in the states and in the international game. Washington, at the age of just 18, was a part of the Jamaican National Team that competed in the World Cup this past summer. Washington played in three games for Jamaica, helping them to their first Round of 16 appearance.

Washington was a dominant force for Chamblee High School in Atlanta as she finished her 2023 season with 42 goals and nine assists which earned her Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year honors and Class 5A Player of the Year honors. She helped Chamblee to a Class 5A state championship and a 21-0-1 record in 2023 and a 21-1-1 record in 2022 where she tallied 21 goals and eight assists. Washington was also named the 2023 ECNL Southeast Conference Player of the Year and was also a 2022 ECNL National Champion.

Washington was also a very successful track and field athlete as she placed fourth in the Class 5A state meet in the 100m dash in 2022. Washington was also a member of the Chamblee Honor Roll. Washington plans to major in sport management while at FSU.

CFP responds to Sen. Rick Scott, cites two factors in ranking FSU at No. 5

Requests for clarity in the College Football Playoff voting received a delayed response, and one that offers little new insight into the decision to exclude Florida State by the 13-member committee.

CFP executive director Bill Hancock responded with a two-page letter to Florida Sen. Rick Scott on Friday afternoon, outlining FSU's No. 5 ranking on two reasons. Hancock reiterates two points that have been made by himself and committee chair Boo Corrigan in previous interviews.

When do we start getting some good news?

Every since Sunday December 3rd at 12 pm we have been dealt what seems to be one kick in the n##s after another.
I get it the transfer portal and NIL have made college football a 3 ring circus. But, man we sure could use a mix of good news with the bad.
Hard to believe after going 13-0 what has been happening and or not happening the last 12 days.

FSU Bama comparison not being talked about

I get that it is history, but it is relevant to consider that the week before the championship games FSU and Alabama effectively played the same opponent. They played rival opponents at the opponents‘ home field. They were both SEC teams that have won titles in the past and are both .500 teams this year (Auburn 6-6 F 5-7). Both games started off with the underdog outplaying the favorite, but Florida State stepped up in the second half dominated, and ran away with a nine point win. Our quarterback was the same quarterback that would be playing in the CFP. Alabama never played better than Auburn and at the end of the game were losing with one play left. Inexplicably, Auburn rushed two and Alabama got a fluke 40 yard Hail Mary-ish type play to squeak out the game, but everyone knows they should have lost. Why is that comparison irrelevant? Alabama clearly was not the better than FSU that week. We both went out and won our championships games. FSU covered the spread against a top 15 opponent; Alabama had a nice very close win against Georgia. They have a loss and a should have lost and we don’t. All well, got to vent again!!

UF's recruiting class is falling apart

We might flip LJ McCray, Texas might flip Xavier Filsaime, Auburn is definitely flipping Amaris Williams, and Miami is definitely flipping Adarius Hayes. That's 4 of their top 10 recruits that could be flipping on signing day. Plus they've lost Etienne and Umanmielen in the portal. Plus they have an insane schedule next year. It's not looking good for the turds or sunbelt Billy. Love to see it lol.

FISH - QUESTION ON PORTAL ENTRIES AND ROSTER SPOTS

Fish - have you been surprised by anything related to the number of FSU players who have entered (or is it right about what you anticipated)? It feels like for everyone going in, CMN can find a replacement level or better player on the roster or in the portal. Curious for your take.

2nd - with this movement, How many roster spots are you projecting to be open for portal use? Do you see us being more active here in the spring?

Bonus question: is there something in particular that’s holding back our DL recruitment? The results on the field are strong. I realize elite prospects here are a finite resource. Is CMN choosing to make this position a portal priority over internal development. Curious for your thoughts as it seems like we should be taking at least 4+ DL/Edge prospects every cycle

Trench Warfare…

Everyone knows it and everyone knows the saying, “ Championship are Won and Loss in the trenches!” ( If don’t get screwed for not losing )

With the elite secondary talent we have you would think LBs and DL would be crawling over each other to get here. When you have backend talent like we do this is what allows those guys to dominate. This allows DC to create 1v1 and mismatches which create stats which turns into money. If the elite HS DL don’t come you have to nail the Elite Portal DL. My gut says we do.

Door open for two-time transfers (briefly) as NCAA loses court case

FSU is looking into this (now) as it applies to hoops point guard Primo Spears. (Darrell Jackson is good to play in the Orange Bowl)

From the AP:

College athletes who were denied the chance to play immediately after transferring a second time can return to competition — for now — after a federal judge issued a 14-day temporary restraining order Wednesday against the NCAA.

U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey in northern West Virginia issued the order against the NCAA from enforcing the transfer rule. A lawsuit filed by West Virginia and six other states alleged the rule’s waiver process violated federal antitrust law. The order clears the way for athletes to play during the two-week period and also ensures that schools won’t be punished for allowing it.

A hearing on the restraining order is scheduled for Dec. 27, Bailey said.
