ESPN on FSU

ESPN just had a segment discussing us and Miami. Basically saying Miami is in a much worse situation because they are so far ahead of us and still suck. Both analyst said that the reason we are so bad is because we don’t have a foundation as a team and the transfer portal is just putting a bandaid on how bad our culture is. Both said that MN is a really good coach and we have to ride this out.

I don’t think Mike Norvell is a good coach but I see their points here. If our 2022 recruiting class falls apart lord help us.

Cuse starting O lineup…

If we go 0-4 after this weekend, which is expected, I hope Norvell goes with this as our starting offensive lineup:

QB - Purdy
LT - R. Scott Jr. (If healthy)
LG - Gibbons
C - Smith (If healthy)
RG - DLT
RT - Washington
TE - Camm
WR - McClain
WR - Williamson
WR - Burrell
RB - Ward

Let Purdy and our more athletic, younger talent grow together on the field. Build some continuity for 2022.

If Smith can’t go, move DLT to C and insert Herring at RG.

If RS Jr. can’t go, move DLT to LT and insert Herring at RG.

If both RS Jr. and Smith can’t go, move DLT to LT, Estes at C and Herring at RG.

Just my thoughts as it would be pretty much a full youth movement on offense with a few veterans to help guide them.

What say you?

From The Swamp Saturday…

I was sitting with my Bamer fiancé Saturday when the Gator fans stood up at the end of the 3rd quarter to sing “we are the girls”.

Then immediately after that they sing “Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty of course.

Being the good Seminole I am and enjoying all the Gators having to stay to the very last play to have their hearts ripped out…

As the Gator fans were running out of there making sure not to make eye contact with any of us…. I may had lead a group of Bama fans in another Tom Petty song….

“Even The Losers”…….

What’s our choice?

Here are my thoughts as a fan since the 80’s, season ticket holder and booster (in other words I got an investment in this thing). I’m not happy. I feel cheated, lied to, and frustrated. I don’t know as much football as Mike Norvell, Adam Fuller, or even Willie Taggart. But some of the things I see on Saturdays just blow me away like all out blitzs on 3rd and forever or 2 deep man under in 4th and 60 (as @CoreyClark says) or running a quarterback lead off tackle (who almost lost his leg) on 4th down play where no interior run has worked all day.

This team not only doesn’t know how to win, they know how to lose. They do everything they can to give the games away. It’s culture - winning is a learned behavior; unfortunately so is losing.

So here is my choice…..I’m going to keep tailgating. I’m going to do all the cheers, do the warchant, stand up and shout, and support the teams, coaches, and administration. I’m going to choose not to be negative because my life is frustrating enough, I’m not going to let FSU football (even though it’s one of my passions) add any negativity into my life. I’m asking that you do the same. I’m not saying you have to accept the results on what we are seeing. But you don’t have to add gas on the dumpster fire.

We are all frustrated but don’t let FSU football make your life miserable. Travis Hunter is still committed, focus on that if nothing else. Choose to be positive, these players and recruits need to see a passionate fan base that is going to support them no matter what, not one that is going to point out the mistakes and remind them how bad the sledding is right now.

That’s my thoughts, I would love to hear yours

FSU vs UL 2020

J Trav was the QB for the majority of the game. Played poorly. We led the game in TOP oddly. 11 penalties and 1 turnover. 1-4 on 4th down conv. 7-18 on 3rd down.

Defense was terrible. We got beat by 2 guys Tutu Atwell and Javian Hawkins both are in NFL now. They combined for 28 Points. Cards had too many explosive plays. We allowed Malik to dink and dunk all game. Pass rush was nonexistent.

The recipe for beating Cards is stopping the run and putting pressure on Malik. Hit him and DL get hands up to knock down the throws over middle.

Cry babies 😭

Enough! All I hear is the sky is falling and life is over for the Noles. I believe that we are headed in the right direction with this staff and this group of players. Norvel has cleaned out the malcontents and has these kids playing hard. This isn’t the crap we saw with Willy and I was a fan of his until after the VT game specifically the pre game. Support the University that we all love so much by showing up and cheering this team. This is the best way for us to keep our recruiting class and keep climbing.

Fartbomb

Paul Fartbomb is a piece of crap. By the way recruiting is just fine, #6 idiot. He knows nothing about the game of football from a Xs and Os standpoint. Has never suited up for a game in his life. Why is the jerk so popular?

The thing that's troubling...

Is that Norvell's Memphis teams would have absolutely destroyed Jax St. at home. Not just his 2019 team, but probably all of them.

So what's the difference? I'm honestly SMH. Can't be better talent or coaching (at Memphis). Norvell's worked with Dillingham and Fuller before. There's some darn good coaches on our staff, such as Atkins, Johnson and Odell. Norvell is no doubt working as hard (and probably harder in a rebuild) as he did at Memphis.

The effort against ND was great. We all applauded it. Was very encouraging. Then Jax St. happened.

The only logical conclusion is that Norvell will need 2-3 full recruiting classes to get this going. Some of the transfers are nice, but most will be in Tallahassee another 10 weeks. Sure, the coaches shouldn't be screwing around with "creative" formations when the game wasn't decided. But the drops, penalties and missed tackles? It keeps happening. FSU beats Jax. St. by at least 3 scores with it's C game. They did it last year. Unfortunately, some of the coaches and players brought their F game on Saturday night and didn't respect their opponent, and that's how you lose to an FCS team at home.

Pick one QB. Run the ball. Keep the DL engaged and playing well. Tackle. Reduce the penalties. Win a few ACC games. Do whatever you can to hold on to this recruiting class. Crucial.

Honest Question?

Based on our history and Taggert being let go where he was W/L wise, if we weren't financially broke, would CMN still have a job right now, let alone at the end of the year?

If your answer is NO then thats all you need to know about where we are as a program!

We brought in mature & experienced players via the Transfer Portal and we are still regressing from last year.

If you say YES then, does he have a longterm job without a Top Tier OC & DC & Staff?

Your answer again is pretty telling overall about his ability to Coach if he cant do it without FSU throwing more $$$$ at the problem!!

It's a talent/depth issue.

Reading all the posts about firing Norvell, or changing coordinators is ridiculous. Do you think that these guys showed up in Tallahassee and forgot how to coach fundamentals?? They spend every day with these players and know what they have to work with. I'm firmly convinced that our poor performance is largely attributed to a lack of talent and depth. How many high school All-Americans do you see on this roster? At the end of the season, how many FSU players will land on any ALL-ACC 1st, 2nd, or 3rd teams? Maybe Johnson?? There is an obvious reason why grad transfers are starting, and yes, Wake Forest has better players than FSU. They are older, been in their system longer and our physically more mature. That's a fact. How do you think Dabo would do with this roster? How many of our current players would step on the field with our 2013 team?? Couple that with a lack on an elite QB sine 2013-2014, and poor offense line play, and it's no wonder we haven't been very good for the past 6 years.

It's going to take this staff a couple of years to recruit at the highest level before you can judge them. Bring in a couple of top 10 classes and than judge the staff on the results. I graduated from FSU in 1986 and have been a die hard fan since I was a kid. Trust me, I know that the on field product is not what we were accustomed to watching in the 1990's and 2013-2014, but the days of FSU simply having better players , and more of them, is not where we are at this time. I am a Norvell fan and think we need to let him continue to build a roster. Everything I hear about him, behind the scenes is very positive.

We should be 1-2 at this point and may be lucky to win 3 games this year. Its tough to watch, but I do think that we have better days ahead.
