At what spread do you take the Noles?

The spread has ballooned to 19, and work continues to come out that UGA is also going to be without quite a few starters also. If we have Fiske and Jackson playing on the interior, the defense looks to still be fairly solid. The offensive line is basically intact, and the skill positions have tons of potential, just unproven at this time. Brock seems confident and I have to imagine he will take a huge step forward from the ACCCG.

UGA is very deep and very talented, but I wonder if the motivation of their second and third string is the same as ours.

I kind of like taking FSU to at least keep it within 19. Thoughts?

Football Even with a few absences, Georgia will present stiff challenge for FSU

Like FSU, Georgia will be without quite a few players for the Orange Bowl. However, the Bulldogs' absences are not at as many key spots. Georgia, which just lost a 29-game winning streak, will present a challenging test for a depleted FSU roster.

It sounds like all/majority of Georgia players in portal won't play. Some injured players who they think will make a quick recovery. But some updates here:

Soccer FSU soccer adds two SEC transfers

FSU sports information:

The reigning National Champions continue to reload for the 2024 season as the FSU women's soccer program picked up two key transfers in Carissa Boeckmann (Texas A&M) and Kameron Simmonds (Tennessee). Boeckmann and Simmonds are the first two transfers of the 2024 signing class and will join six incoming freshmen as newcomers in 2024.

Boeckmann will come to Tallahassee with one year of eligibility remaining after an illustrious career for Texas A&M. In three seasons with the Aggies, Boeckmann appeared 61 matches while making 30 starts as a midfielder. Boeckmann has scored six goals while adding 10 assists in three seasons. In 2023, Boeckmann played in all 22 matches while making 11 starts. She scored two goals while adding six assists. Her best match of the year came against Grambling, where she tallied a career-high three assists. In the Aggies' two matchups against Florida State this season, Boeckmann logged 76 minutes while taking one shot.

Off the field, Boeckmann was a two-time College Sport Communicators Academic All-District honoree and was also on the SEC's Academic Honor Roll twice. Boeckmann will be majoring in sport management upon her arrival at FSU.

Tennessee's leading scorer is coming to Tallahassee as Simmonds had a terrific season for the Lady Vols in 2023. Simmonds started all 18 matches for a Tennessee team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. As a sophomore, Simmonds led the Lady Vols with eight goals and 19 total points. She earned SEC Player of the Week honors on Aug. 21 after scoring a goal in the first two games of the season. Simmonds followed that up with a brace in the third game of the season against East Tennessee State. In two seasons with the Lady Vols, Simmonds has scored 12 goals while adding three assists. Simmonds also has experience on the international level as she represented Jamaica in the 2023 FIFA World Cup on their historic run to the Round of 16.

Football 18 players (13 starters) from FSU's ACCCG depth chart missing from Orange Bowl two-deep

We knew FSU's Orange Bowl depth chart would look a lot different. When it was released Tuesday, it drove the point home with a nail.

13 starters/co-starters from the ACC Championship Game depth chart and 18 players from that two-deep are not going to play in FSU's bowl game.

IF Brock Takes the Rock…..

Since there isn’t a lot of video on Brock playing in college I decided to go back and watch some video on him in HS.

Size - He has nice size. Not quite as tall as Tate, however checking in at 6’2 215lbs gives him the ht to see the short to intermediate routes in the middle of the field. I have mentioned this before and that is JT rarely threw or had success in this area of the field only because his ht made it extremely difficult to see over the line. You often saw him sliding left or right trying to find a lane to see through. Almost always by the time he found the lane it was just too late. Opposing DC knew this, which is why you would see them bring LBs a lot more often than normal because the void they left is the area JT couldn’t see.
Now, the good news is if BG has to go his ht like TR keeps this area open.

Arm / Accuracy - He has a big arm not quite as strong as TR arm. However, if you watch his film in HS he consistently, causally and almost effortlessly slings it 50 - 60 yds. Another thing you will notice is he throws a nice ball that drops right in the WR bread basket in stride. Now, some times and imo little to often he puts a lil to much air on it. In HS he got away with very often in HS there are alot of those that will allow a DB at this level to gain any loss steps to contest the catch or potentially int it. Now, I’m sure he has cleaned up this since getting here. One thing that jumps out on film also is he didn’t throw a lot of medium to short passes and this wasn’t a fault to him it’s purely because he his WR won these deep routes a lot.

RPO/Scramble Ability - IMO he has a Ponder esque ability with his legs. He has enough wiggle to potentially make the first man miss to get those extra yds. He looks to be a step or two quicker than TR. BG seems to have that edge / mentality/ toughness to force D to respect and account for him in the RPO game and scrambling. He just seems to be that type of QB who will lower his shoulders to get that extra yard or 2.

Potential negatives - Freshman trying to “over” prove himself. Sometimes, especially with QBs w/ his mentality/ competitiveness, tend to force things or feel like they have to do something extra special to win. Many times young QBs become impatient, which either causes a few to many 3 and outs to much or struggle to finish long drives.

Conclusion - If Brock gets the Rock and he will trust and utilize the crazy ridiculous weapons he is surrounded by I feel good about us taking the W. Be the QB who understands and takes what the D gives him. Don’t make choices that negates talent advantage and/or puts our D in to many short field situations that can hurts our defense being able to dominate like they can. Noles Win Today!!
