Comments: GRADE B+++ I really was impressed with Marvin Jones Jr. in the spring game. I want to not get too ahead of ourselves as we have seen other players play great in a spring game only to never be heard from again. Marvin along with Payton Payton could end up one of the best pair of defensive ends in the ACC. FSU has done a great job in the transfer portal identifying and developing defensive ends. Could Marvin be next in line? If so this ends up an A grade. Hilson is a big-time talent and will be the next star defensive end. FSU needs to hold onto him. Can they land Zion Grady? Alabama may be looking another direction. Grady seems like he wants out of Alabama. FSU and Miami are close in his recruitment.

Options 2026 Class: DE - Jake Kreul (Bishop Moore) - Here is a prospect who has been on the radar since his freshman season. He has a great motor. Jake has a very good work ethic. He has some nice burst off the ball. This comes down to how much the kid develops over the next two seasons. Does he continue to develop or is Jake maxed out? FSU has offered and he is high up on their 2026 board. Just turn on film of Tyler Atkinson (Loganville Ga. Grayson). He stands out and is one of the better pass rushers in the country.

Comments: GRADE B+ Jackson and Farmer are a nice duo inside. Durojaiye and Kelly provide depth along with Lyons, who has flashed. KJ Sampson shined at times this spring. I really like Myron Charles. He is a very good player. Wynn is also talented. Don't think either is elite right now. Adding Wynn and Charles would replenish the DT room. FSU has yet to land an elite DT like Timmy Jernigan, Eddie Goldman or Marvin Wilson in a while now. It will be interesting to see how this group plays out the next couple of seasons.

Options 2026 Class: DT Kendall Guervil - Two people I respect their opinions in Fort Myers have told me that he is an elite prospect. FSU sits in a good spot for Kendall. It would not surprise me to see them end up one of his top schools. FSU will get him on campus this spring.

Comments: Grade B - I know many complain about the linebacker recruiting. But to be honest, I feel that outside of like 3-4 top programs it is not as bad as people think. The reality is the position has seen a decline of overall talent and depth all over college football. There are very few ELITE linebackers and the ones that are good have flaws. Overall, I think that Bethune and Deloach were both pretty good players. Deloach is a classic example of developing that so many fans speak of. He got to FSU and was very raw, he turned into a starting player and a very good one at that. I like Blake Nichelson and think he will end up starting. Not going to lie, but I was not a fan of what I saw from Shawn Murphy is the spring game. I do like Cam Riley. He reminds me of a modern day Tommy Polley. Big, long and athletic. You would have to be ecstatic with Zayden Walker or Riley Pettijohn. That being said, it most likely won't happen. What is on the board is still very good. Tavion Wallace is a must get imho. He has the highest upside of anyone left on the board. I do think FSU has a legit shot at Sale and it would not shock me to see him commit. Ty Jackson wants a nice NIL deal. Linebackers don't get much NIL. So it will be interesting. Does he want to get paid well and go to FSU, where he likes it, or go somewhere else? Hastie is probably going to end up in the class unless other top-rated guys jump on board. I still think Alford is a legit option. Yes, he committed to Ohio State but Vero HS is pro-FSU. I would wait and see with that one.

Options 2026 Class: LB - Desmond Johnson (Miami Northwestern), Malik Morris (Lakeland), Adam Balogoun-Ali (The Benjamin School). Balogoun was recently offered and FSU has a legit shot at a potential early commitment. He was one of the top linebackers at the Rivals camp. Keep an eye on him.

Comments: Grade A - I feel FSU's room is not only talented but deep. You have versatility in the room as well. There are no Jalen Ramsey or Derwin James types at Safety but they are not the norm. I do think there are some options at corner who could end up early round picks at safety if they make the move. This room has a chance to be one of the best in the ACC this year. They have size and length all over the defensive backfield. Adding Gregory Thomas and Redmon will only enhance an already strong group.

Options 2026 - DB - Dariyon Gordon (West Orange), Justice Fitzpatrick (Saint Thomas), Chauncey Kennon (Booker HS-Sarasota), Zech Fort (IMG Academy), Jaelen Waters (Armwood-Committed to FSU), Jaydin Broadnax - Broadnax is rated a three-star. That will not be for long. He will be one of the top-rated corners not only in Florida but the country. The early offer gives FSU a legit shot. FSU landing Waters gives them a good jump on 2026 DB class. Once again FSU looks strong recruiting here.

I am a huge fan of Danzy, who has track speed. Gibson reminds me of Preston Parker. I think the kid is one of those do everything type players.

Options 2026 Ath - Darryon Williams (Gaither) (Committed to FSU), Kaj Baker (Somerset Academy) - Williams is committed to FSU. He is one of the top players in the Tampa area. It is tough for FSU to land big time players from Tampa. Williams may buck the recent trend.

After Friday's win over Virginia, Link Jarrett was adamant his FSU team has done enough to earn a top-eight overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. College baseball experts seem to agree with him, but say a win vs. Wake Forest today would really lock it in.

FSU's run through the ACC Tournament comes up just short of a ninth ACC Championship. The Noles fell 16-4 to Duke in the title game Sunday afternoon and now await their postseason fate.

We'll find out if FSU is indeed a top-eight seed as projected tomorrow at noon on ESPN2.

The NCAA just announced the 16 teams that will host baseball regionals next weekend. FSU makes the list as expected. For the first time since 2018, the Seminoles will host a regional starting on Friday. They'll find out their seed Monday at noon.

The Florida State men’s golf team, seeded fifth overall, put together its best round of the weekend as it shot 2-under and vaulted up to fourth place following the third round on Sunday at the NCAA Championships held at Omni La Costa North Course in Carlsbad, Calif.

FSU is 10-over for the NCAA Championships. In front of FSU on the leaderboard are Illinois (-2), Virginia (+4) and Vanderbilt (+9).

The Seminoles move past the Top 15 cutline and now aim to make the Top 8 following Monday’s final stroke-play round. The Top 8 teams of the 15 remaining teams following Monday’s round will advance to the match-play quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Golf Channel coverage starts on Monday with Golf Today from 4-6 p.m. ET, followed by live coverage from 6-10 p.m. ET.

Sophomore Luke Clanton fired a 2-under 70 on Sunday, igniting a Seminoles squad that started the day tied for sixth on the leaderboard. The Hialeah, Fla., native recorded three of his four birdies on the front nine and had just two bogeys on the day. He capped his round with a late birdie on the par-4, 491-yard 17th hole. Clanton is tied for seventh overall at 1-under.

Senior Frederik Kjettrup has shook off his tough start in the opening round by shooting another under-par round, carding a 1-under 71. He recorded four front-nine birdies on holes 1, 2, 5 and 6.

Senior Brett Roberts also had a key round with an even par 72. After recording a 37 on the front nine, he finished strong on the back end with a 35 and three birdies in his final nine holes.

Graduate Cole Anderson added a 1-over 73 for FSU’s final counting score, while senior Gray Albright shot 7-over.

Albright begins the fourth round for the Seminoles on Monday at 2:40 p.m. ET/11:40 p.m. PT.

Florida State Women’s Basketball coach Brooke Wyckoff has announced yet another significant addition to the 2024-25 roster this offseason, adding talented guard Sydney Bowles from Texas A&M.

Bowles is an ultra-athletic 6-foot guard from Lithonia, Ga., who excelled with the Aggies as a freshman when she started all 29 games and was selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

“The addition of Sydney Bowles is another important step in building our roster to compete for championships next season,” Wyckoff said. “Sydney comes to Florida State with experience playing at the highest level in college. She is a versatile guard with a skill set that makes us even more dangerous on both ends of the floor. We are extremely excited to welcome Sydney to our Seminole Family!”

Bowles will enter the upcoming season as a junior guard with two years of eligibility remaining.

In the 2022-23 season, Bowles proved herself at the collegiate level right away by leading Texas A&M in total points (264), 3-point field goals made (52) and minutes per game (29.4). In the 2023 SEC Tournament, she recorded 22 points against Vanderbilt.

In that SEC Tournament run, Bowles averaged a team-best 15.7 points and shot 48 percent from the floor.

Bowles was recognized as the 2021-22 Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Georgia, ranking as the No. 37 recruit overall in the 2022 signing class.

Her outstanding freshman campaign included 14 games in double-figure scoring.

As a sophomore in 2023-24, Bowles averaged 3.5 points and 2.0 rebounds.

The talented guard joins FSU offseason additions Malea Williams (Graduate forward, Cincinnati), Raiane Dias Dos Santos (Redshirt freshman guard, Gulf Coast State College) and Morelia Chavez (junior forward, Eastern Arizona College).

The Seminoles enter the 2024-25 year with 12 student-athletes on their roster, bolstered by the return of All-American Ta’Niya Latson along with playmakers Makayla Timpson and O’Mariah Gordon.

ESPN has gathered the ACC's tax forms. Some interesting nuggets:

The ACC generated a record $706.6 million in gross revenue in 2022-23, distributing an average of $44.8 million to its 14 football-playing members. The ACC remains behind the Big Ten (nearly $880 million) and SEC ($852.6 million).

Notre Dame, a member in all sports but football, received $22.1 million.

John Swofford has earned nearly $6 million from the ACC since his retirement in 2021.

Florida State baseball's run through the ACC Tournament has come down to this. The fifth-seeded Seminoles (42-14) will look to bring home their ninth ACC Championship in program history Sunday afternoon when they take on No. 6 seed Duke (38-18) at noon on ESPN2 from Truist Field in Charlotte.

FSU previously won a weekend series at Duke back in April, winning the first two games of the series behind strong starts from Jamie Arnold and Carson Dorsey. FSU will turn back to Dorsey (5-3, 4.97 ERA) Sunday against the Blue Devils after he allowed just two runs on seven hits over six innings at Duke on April 27, striking out eight batters while walking just one.

Duke will counter with sophomore lefty James Tallon (2-0, 5.60 ERA), who will be making his first start of the season in Sunday's championship game. He did appear twice out of the bullpen in the FSU series, allowing no runs on two hits over three combined scoreless innings with three strikeouts. In 27.1 innings this season, Tallon has 33 strikeouts to 16 walks and has allowed 24 hits (nine extra-base hits).

FSU may not have much at stake in Sunday's championship game. The Seminoles are being regarded as a national seed lock now by national college baseball writers, with D1Baseball even moving FSU up to the No. 7 overall seed after the win over Wake Forest Saturday. Duke would put itself into the regional hosting conversation should it beat the Seminoles Sunday.

The FSU baseball team entered the final week of the regular season in a closely-contested race for the last national seed in the NCAA Tournament. While other teams faltered, FSU has won six of its last seven and seems to have locked down a top-eight seed.

Link Jarrett: "This team is one of the best eight teams in the country, there's no question in my mind."

The No. 19 Florida State women’s outdoor track and field team qualified five student-athletes for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday as Dajaz DeFrand and Alexandra Webster set program records at the NCAA East Preliminaries.

In addition to DeFrand and Webster, Suus Altorf, Tyra Wilson and Shenese Walker will be competing at nationals, which will be held June 5-8 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

"I couldn’t be prouder of our ladies this weekend,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “We had a lot of great things happen today with several all-time performances. It was a great meet and great set up for nationals.”

DeFrand set a new school and ACC record in the 100-meter, establishing a lifetime best at 10.94. DeFrand erased the standard that was set by Edidiong Odiong at 11.05 in 2022. She added 200 to her event list for Eugene after running another best time at 22.34 for third place. Her performance was the second-fastest in school history.

A sophomore, DeFrand will be racing in her second outdoor national meet after collecting five All-American honors between indoor and outdoor.

As the third seed at 12.77 in the 100 hurdles, Webster finished with silver, establishing a program record of 12.70. She erased the mark set by Cortney Jones in 2019 at 12.72.

Wilson advanced in the 400 hurdles, placing third with a lifetime best and second-fastest time in school history at 55.68.

Agnes McTighe competed in the 5,000 36th with a time of 16:36.03.

Walker competed alongside DeFrand in the 100, placing eighth with a career best of 11.09. Walker qualified for her second outdoor nationals after earning All-American honors in 2023.

“Dajaz was world class this weekend,” added Braman. “Tyra, Alexandra and Shenese had phenomenal races as well.”

Altorf qualified for her first nationals in the 1,500, placing 12th with a lifetime best and fourth-fastest time in FSU history at 4:10.13.

The 4x400 relay team of Kaelyaah Liburd, Wilson, Ava Klein, and Jaden Francis concluded competition for the Noles, placing 17th with a time of 3:33.56.

Will miss the seniors who are leaving and I wish you luck and good fortune wherever life takes you. They have been a special part of what has happened the last 4 or 5 years.
I know this year had its ups and downs but, the team still battled and made it to the supers.
Hopefully the ones returning will benefit in having to make a trip to Norman and getting to play against OU.
The future looks pretty bright with the contributions the freshmen made this year and I truly hope we have the opportunity to give some payback to those dadgum Sooners at some point.

No. 5 national seed Florida State Men’s Golf shot 10 strokes lower in Saturday’s second round of the NCAA Championships, carding a 1-over score as it sits tied for sixth overall at 12-over through the first two rounds.

Florida State moved up 11 spots on the leaderboard, elevating from its previous position in a tie for 17th entering the day. FSU’s score of 1-over on the day marked the fourth-lowest team round of the 30 participating schools. FSU joined Tennessee as the two schools to move up by double digits on Saturday.

Two Seminoles recorded under-par scores on Saturday, as seniors Gray Albright (-1) and Frederik Kjettrup (-1) came up big with formidable rounds. Albright had three birdies and a double bogey, while Kjettrup added five birdies. Kjettrup’s 71 marks his lowest round at an NCAA Championship since his freshman appearance in 2021.

Graduate Cole Anderson also had a good showing with a 1-over score. The Camden, Maine, native totaled three birdies in the round.

Sophomore Luke Clanton continues leading the Seminoles after being tied for 15th at 1-over (71-74). Senior Brett Roberts also shot a 3-over 74 in the second round and is tied for 40th at 5-over (75-74).

Tee times will be announced later in the evening for the third round of stroke play. Following Sunday’s round, the Top 15 teams will move onto the fourth and final round of stroke play on Monday.

No. 5 national seed Florida State Men’s Golf endured a challenging round on a championship-level course at the Omni La Costa North Course in Carlsbad, Calif., on Friday. The result was an 11-over showing that puts the Seminoles tied for 17th following the opening round of the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships.

Jack Nicklaus Award finalist Luke Clanton anchored the Seminoles, tying for eighth with a 1-under round. The sophomore got off to a strong start with a birdie on four of his first six holes, then had a solid back nine with one birdie, one bogey and seven pars on a golf course that produced some lopsided results across all 30 teams.

Clanton is one of 12 golfers in the 156-player field who shot under par in the first round. His five birdies in the round is tied for the fourth most.

Graduate golfer Cole Anderson and senior Brett Roberts, both making their fourth NCAA Championships appearances, finished with a pair of 3-over 75s and sit tied for 63rd. Of the five Seminoles competing, Anderson was the only golfer to shoot better on the back nine, carding a 36 on his final nine holes.

Senior Gray Albright, making his first NCAA appearance, is tied for 112th at 6-over. Frederik Kjettrup is tied for 148th at 12-over.

The Seminoles had a respectable showing in par 4 scoring Friday, shooting 9-over to tie for the fifth-best among the 30-team field.

Anderson returns on Tuesday to start FSU’s tee times at hole 10, teeing off at 10:02 a.m. ET/7:02 PT. Roberts follows at 10:13 a.m. ET, followed by Albright (10:24 a.m.), Kjettrup (10:35 a.m.) and Clanton (10:46 a.m.).

Florida State’s bats provided plenty of run support in what was another all-hands-on-deck pitching game on Saturday. And the Seminoles will play for the ACC Tournament title on Sunday.

Max Williams hit a two-run homer, added an RBI on a fielder’s choice and made a grab at the wall in center to rob an extra-base hit as FSU grabbed a 9-6 win over Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon in an ACC Tournament semifinal game at Charlotte, N.C.

FSU (42-14) won its two pool games, knocked off the Demon Deacons and now will play the Miami-Duke winner on Sunday at noon (ESPN2) for the ACC Tournament title. A year after FSU won just 23 games in Link Jarrett’s first season in Tallahassee, the Seminoles are now in position to pick up a trophy and win No. 43 before the NCAA Tournament begins.
