Great game Travis!!!!

I’ve been skeptical of his play since last year specifically he is NOT your typical drop back passer sit in the pocket QB.

But Saturday vs UNC showed what kind of QB he is. Simply put when we run the ball it opens up passing opportunities and he was LETHAL last night. Almost perfect. Plus he is such of gifted runner his skill keep a defense honest. An aggressive defense is gambling because Travis can turn nothing in something big.

If only the coaches ran the same offensive game plan in the previous games🤷🏼‍♂️

Addition by Subtraction = less penalties

Our penalties have dropped with 55 gone and Gant getting less PT.

Dotson/Gant/Jackson/Green did not travel to UNC, anyone know if discipline or health related?

I thought the DBs played better as a group without all the subbing, let them get a better feel for the game.

I thought 99 Ray played well, probably helped knowing he was going to be relied upon with Briggs gone for year and Jackson home.

Sometimes less is more, certainly without having to rely on the unreliable 55. The rotation has shrunk, and we are playing better.

Does Gainer declare after this season?

Before you go after me, I think he should come back. Regardless, it’s not up to me or any other TC expert whether he SHOULD go pro, I’m simply asking if you think he WILL go pro.

Reasons I think he may declare:
- he’s in his 4th year removed from HS.
- he’s an athletic kid; 6’3 & 238 pounds & can really move.
- he’s had a fairly productive career, statistically. One of our top tacklers, some forced fumbles and fumble recoveries, proved to be a decent pass rusher, etc.
- he’s already dealt with a lot of coaching changes and there’s a good chance more are coming at DC & LB next year.

Again, I think he’d be better off returning, but has anyone heard or read where his head is regarding the jump? We can’t deny FSU has had guys get drafted based on potential more than production (Robinson & Kaindoh, 2020).

Our last pass - 3Q TD to Pokey

Travis started 0/2, then finished the game connecting on all 11 of his remaining passes. Fun enough, our last pass attempt was the 3rd quarter throw to Pokey for his second TD to make it 35-17. We ran the ball every play in the 4th quarter.

We could’ve scored more if we wanted to, but we did what we needed to do to get out of there with a win — play mistake-free football, drain the clock, & not give up anything stupid.

I love how ND continues to punk the ACC

Notre Dame has now won 21 straight(!) regular season games vs ACC teams. How exactly does this help the conference? (Besides giving it a whole lot of losses).

It serves this pathetic conference right for allowing them to join in every sport EXCEPT the one we really needed.

Serious question, what would ND do without the ACC giving them five opponents every year? Could they even fill out a respectable 12-game schedule?

For those that point to the increased TV footprint, last night's primetime ND/VT showdown was on.... the ACC Network lol.

Perspective on Rebuilding - i submit to the jury we are not really EVEN in Year 2 -

I am not making excuses for poor record, and have been hearing from writers and TC that this is a rebuild project and we are only in year 2

Actually, did last year even count? For ANYTHING really, other than Bama because they can run around with a trophy and claim that they were the champs of the oddest year in CFB since WWII???

Norvell first came around as coach AFTER Taggart was fired in November , had to scramble for recruiting (early signing period killed us i think?!) and had barely a month or so as HC before COVID hit - new staff had ZERO time to gel - it is what it is.

So 2020 was "sort of" Year 1, and we saw a glimpse of how good we could be when we played UNC - but the reality of the year is that it really wouldnt count as a normal year under any circumstances.

So if there was ever a time to claim maybe last season was a HALF year, it would be 2020.

So, here we are, its Year 1.5 really. We have seen glimpses of greatness in a couple of games over that span.

I just think we are in the right place, with the right coach - the players are learning, slowly, how to win and are buying what Norvell is selling.

Its technically still his first year, albeit later in the season..

Just my two cents

Coach Odell

Is quietly doing a good job IMO. The interior of our DL has performed solidly this year - albeit helped quite a bit by JJ and KT on the ends. Nevertheless, he has had a few injuries to deal with in the rotation and little or no help behind him at times. We rarely talk about Coach Haggins much anymore, which is probably a good thing on this site. Still one of the best in the business IMO.

Things that make you go….hmmmmmm.

1) Why care more about showing your punter can kick with either foot instead of converting third downs so punting isn’t necessary?
2) Why do we have some players who continually smile after making a bad play as if it’s a joke?
3) Why not try a prevent defense so the other team can’t score a winning touchdown on the last play of the game from a mile away?
4) Why schedule an FCS opponent who can beat you?
5) Why run wildcat on short yardage situations to allow everybody on defense to key on the guy 6 yards back of the line of scrimmage?
6) Why run formations with 2 QBs so you are wasting a functional player position?
7) Why keep the game’s 2 most productive running backs on the sideline so the third one can gain playing time when you really, really need a running first down?
8) Why can’t we avoid the same penalties every game over and over?
9) Why show unsuccessful new formations to supposedly cause future opponents to have to prepare for them before you have a very safe lead?
10) Why do we drop so many passes?

ESPN always Scheming

Looks like ESPN completely eliminated the ACC with that contract with the ACCN lacrosse channel til 2030 freakin something “ PRE PLANNED “ . So they could build a powerhouse SEC money making machine . If ESPN is funding everyone ( including the longhorn network) , why can’t this stupid ACC network be removed and have one big league or a Fox league and an ESPN league?? ESPN Getting the Longhorns by paying themselves off to get Texas to the SEC is BS . Smart but BS . Imagine FSU with a big Bank ?
