#100pagesnatty Thread 11/08/18 #63pagesnattynumber1 #106pagesnattynumber2

I'd think it's possible. Not because of the coach/player relationship but because of the style play run by each coach.

Part of it is liking bigger receivers who can block but still run a post. Not a lot of intricate route running with tons of reads where you need a Jerry Ricesque genius and excellent route runner to handle it. Pretty much it’s either block or run a simple zero or one move route. So basically Auden Tate would be ideal.

So probably in his preferred setup, two bigger but still “fast enough” receivers on the perimeter with running backs, tight ends and/or small slot receivers for the underneath and zone busting shallow routes. Which would have been ideal for Izzo but should also be perfect for fast pass catching RBs like Khalan Laborn.

Now that’s not my description as I watched zero Oregon games this past year and saw maybe a handful when he was at USF. That’s the descriptions from Doc Staples, Bud Elliot, Feldman et al.

Ron Dugans going to be there??

Got the official news that Dugans is now staying with Miami. :(

So we’ll see who the backup option is. I know one thing being discussed is Locksley from Bama switching to WR and being given the passing OC nametag and money (even though the OC will really be Taggart).

Regardless, we need to throw some real money to make sure we get a quality WR coach. WR has been a huge weakness at FSU for quite some time other than a handful of just naturally talented guys like Benjamin.

the guys on "Wakeup Warchant" were saying they thought Izzo's decision was based on new scheme. They don't seem to think tight end will be a large part of the passing under WT. (FWIW).

When JF was interviewed during the aTm bowl game, he said that one big change you'll see in his offense compared to what they had previously with Sumlin would be the use and feature on tight ends. While WT's offense may utilize them, I think they would be ones that can go vertical and that is not Izzo's strong point.

Cameron and the boys were making the point that WR coach isn't that important. Someone pointed out that Jeffey was the guy back in the day.

Jeff, Corey, and Ira discuss FSU football's bowl win, the concern around the search for football assistants

Well it definitely sounds like that in Taggart’s system there’s not a whole heck of a lot of teach WRs. They’re not doing triple moves or complex reads, they’ll pretty much either just be blocking, running a fade, running an out or running a slant basically schoolyard style. But having a solid recruiter in that position is key.

I DO hope that James Coleman is right and we’re interviewing Grant Heard.

So James Coleman thinks our second DL coach will be one of either Ron Burton, Mark Snyder or Eric Mathies. I kind of like the idea of Mathies as he’s also FAU’s recruiting coordinator.

While recruiting is obviously very important, it almost seems as though it's the primary qualification for many of theses assistants.

Which makes sense, since the latest recruiting dead period ends at midnight.

I’m not paying Newberg for his VIP updates, but Twitter has Locksley from Bama and Guidry from McNeese State in town doing interviews so I would imagine those are the two Newberg is referencing. I don’t know...I heard that Heard also agreed to be our WR coach but we might be waiting to see if Locksley says yes first.

Oh apparently I was half right, Newberg tweeted out publicly it’s Locksley but that the other one he says will sign is Mark Snyder. I do know Guidry is in town as well, he’s been seen around unless he was just here for a recruit BEFORE the dead period opened up.

I can't imagine Locksley comes unless he gets a OC title. I would guess he's done being a Head Coach though, seeing as he has the worst win/loss record as head coach I've probably seen (3-31.....not a mistype!)

Yeah, the rumors are he’ll be offered passing OC title and more than a mil. Of course Bama can always turn around and do the same....so....

So are we just done with Deion being anything? Haven’t heard his name since the DB coach was announced.

He’s 100% done as one of the onfield 10 coaches. But I’m hearing he’ll likely have an unofficial role as a mentor and trainer....cough cough bagman cough....excuse me, I’m coming down from a cold...that would help us out tremendously.

That kid, Akers, and others are gonna need to be huge for the team next year. Patrick being interviewed one post game said that, “Third down is effort down.”
He is a beast.

So apparently Snyder at DE coach and Guidry at Safety is a done deal.

Locksley at Passing OC/WR is still up in the air. Azzanni one of the backup options just apparently signed with the Denver Broncos. This is starting to annoy me because it’s at a position that we are the shallowest in at the moment.

Allegedly some people saw Weinke in town, but I personally doubt we are interviewing him even if true as we need a WR coach not a QB coach. Maybe we would hire him as an off-field “shadow” coach but I assume he’s got real gig offers better than that.

Len Dawson who retired this week as Chiefs broadcaster had a short write up in Peter Kings MMQB

He and Nick were cant miss TV on Inside the NFL for so many years for me

nice addition to the write up was this outstanding pick of Len during halftime of Super Bowl I
