Len Dawson who retired this week as Chiefs broadcaster had a short write up in Peter Kings MMQB

He and Nick were cant miss TV on Inside the NFL for so many years for me

nice addition to the write up was this outstanding pick of Len during halftime of Super Bowl I

Nice...Fresca baby! Reminds me of seeing Freddie Biletnikoff burning them on the sidelines in Oakland.

So apparently Snyder at DE coach and Guidry at Safety is a done deal.

Locksley at Passing OC/WR is still up in the air. Azzanni one of the backup options just apparently signed with the Denver Broncos. This is starting to annoy me because it’s at a position that we are the shallowest in at the moment.

Allegedly some people saw Weinke in town, but I personally doubt we are interviewing him even if true as we need a WR coach not a QB coach. Maybe we would hire him as an off-field “shadow” coach but I assume he’s got real gig offers better than that.
This site seems to confirm Snyder.

So if Locksley ends up passing on our offer (pun intended), we need to immediately move on to the next option. Ron Dugans really screwed us by waiting too long to get back on the job offer and now we’re sitting here without a coach in the position where we have probably the biggest recruiting need.

I can’t say I’ve ever stressed as much over a simple position coach.

Might need go get Creekside High School's WR coach. I think he has ties to FSU and our new head coach.

Btw, did anyone else see that Lane Kiffin said Tua had contacted him to transfer to FAU before the title game? That would have been awesome, so yet another reason to hate Jawja (playing just well enough to force out Hurts).

He's a big poster on the premium recruiting board.

Well good! I saw some others on Twitter saying the same thing but also took it with a grain of salt. But this morning I saw James Coleman say it and he’s been dead on this whole process (Dot would be wise to start paying him before he’s officially swept up by a competitor rather than just occasional free or cheap commentator). So now I consider it official even if the school has yet to announce it.

So if the other rumors are true about bringing in Shepherd or Heard as position WR coaches with Locksley at passing OC and QB coach and Hampton NOT being an onfield coach but basically heading up Quality Control/“Shadow Coaches”...I honestly think this is the best staff we’ve ever assembled even over the Mickey Andrews/Mark Richt/Chuck Amato days.

Because it would look like...

Passing OC/QB: Mike Locksley - basically a second HC and great offensive mind who can recruit the DMV area with the best of them.
Running OC/OL: Greg Frey - solid upgrade over Trickett at coaching the OL who can recruit the fatty ogres in the Midwest with the best of them
RB: Dontae Pimpleton - coach Pimp is a great RB coach and a fantastic recruiter throughout Central Florida an area we frequently whiffed on even in the best days.
TE: Telly Lockette - taught Devonte Freeman and Dalvin Cook plus a ton of other great RBs and a devastating recruiter in South Florida
WR: JaMarcus Shepherd or Grant Heard - both good young coaches who can recruit well. Shepherd has worked for Taggart, Brohm and Petrino.
DC/CB: Harlon Barnett - led Michigan State’s defensive turnaround recently but a long time fantastic secondary coach
S: Lance Guidry - not just a second DC, really a third HC who can coach all over the field and an excellent recruiter of the dirty south (Louisiana, Missississipi and Alabama)
LB: Raymond Woodie - Excellent LB coach who is one of the best Central Florida recruiters in the game and who has helped stir up excitement in California aka the Westside Noles
DT: Odell Haggins - still one of the best DL coaches in the game and a great recruiter...plus an undefeated FSU HC
DL: Mark Snyder - a fifth person on the staff counting Taggart with HC experience who knows Barnett’s system well and has been a solid recruiter in Texas

Plus two Bonus coaches in the QC/Operations/“Shadow” area
Alonzo Hampton - worked with Taggart frequently and will be responsible for Special Teams plus an excellent Central Florida recruiter
David Kelly - recruiting coordinator and “general manager” of recruiting operations and one of the best at each

I'm not going to dispute anything you said but I'll wait to see the results on the field before I crown them best of all time.

I'm thinking our coaching staff will turn over a lot more in the next few years. These guys for the most part have bright futures imo.

Oh definitely. No one, not even Darth Saban keeps the same five coaches with head coaching experience on his staff for long.

Well at the very least this staff is better than any Jimbo assembled. Literally it’s upgrades everywhere except DT where we kept Haggins (and Haggins was one of Jimbo’s best). I’m fully back on the Willie Taggart Experience Train.

New rumor is Bama's first year OC is being courted by several NFL teams for a similar position. If he leaves, that may affect Locksley's decision.

So there is a guy on the TC (tanknoles) that is connected with the Patriots, very familiar with this situation, and he says Locksley is leaving tomorrow for FSU.
We shall see, but sounds like good news.

Not sure what this will mean for Locksley coming here.

Yeah, it definitely screwed us yet again. At the very least it slowed down the transition and we’re still recruiting without a passing OC and WR coach. Worst case scenario is he’s not coming and we’re stuck with options Q through Z. Although I did really like Coleman’s suggestion.
