#100pagesnatty Thread 11/08/18 #63pagesnattynumber1 #106pagesnattynumber2

OMG! One of the guys (Brian Jones) picked our smelly neighbors to the ESE to make the Playoff. :Face with Tears of Joy

Just to recap:
Urban Meyer is being excoriated in the media and has lost his moral high ground.
Jimbo is facing an NCAA crapstorm at worst and a huge distraction at best.

The only thing that could make this week better is if Steve Spurrier got herpes.
Oh gosh! Way back, my mom asked my recently returned from the Army brother, as he headed out on the town, if he was aware of the danger of herps. He responded, “Are you talking about her peez Mom?” To which she responded,” Get the h outta here and don’t call me if you get in trouble!
Stevo may have gotten some “connections” in that same ‘80s timeframe.

I think Willie needs to prove himself. I like the guy so far and he seems to saying and doing the right things, but we haven’t played a game with him yet.

As for Dan Mullen and the Mississippi State comment, he really didn’t do anything amazing in Starkville. He is something like 2-25 against Top 25 opponents.
I’ve seen enough on how he put a staff together and has recruited for me to say that he is not deserving of title of most over rated coach in all of the 129. Franklin being tied with him seems odd as well. Seems a little bit of, well, let’s not derail this thread and just call it extreme jealousy.

To be truly over or underrated you need a substantial data set. Taggart has 1 year of p5 coaching experience and he had like 3qb’s get hurt.

I am not sold on him as a game day coach but he a) can’t be overrated due to low data, and b) darn sure seems like the right guy to lead this program.

I’ve long believed that the players are worth >50% of results and so far he has attracted talen5 and made them happy to work together. That’s worth something there

IMO mark D’antonio and Pat Fitzgerald do the best jobs. I think Mark Richt is overrated and so is Paul Johnson.

Yes jealousy. There’s a lot of dumb coach comments. Not a great time of year to do the poll as they are highly stressed right now.

This may have been posted already...I found the results, um......interesting.

https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...ated-and-underrated-college-football-coaches/

“Our CBS Sports college football writers spoke with one-fifth of the 129 active coaches leading FBS teams entering the 2018 season. “
This screams jealousy.

"I would say Willie Taggart at Florida State. He was only at Oregon for one year, and it's not like he really transformed that program -- and that's a place that's won for a long time. Not that he isn't good -- he's won. But usually when you get a job like Florida State, it's because you've won some championships or done something really amazing."

Definitely agree on Richt being overrated. When you consider recruiting area, GA.'s willingness to spend money and how poor the sec least was when he was there; UGA was a constant under achiever. For the record though I like Richt and think he is a great human being, just not a top level coach.

Bottom line he will have ample opportunity to prove them wrong and I would take any bet out there that says he won't be a great coach. I think another underrated point is he LOVES FSU, bleeds garnet and gold; that puts another factor in your desire to win. It is one thing to want to win for success, the players, university etc.; but with WT he is basically all of us if we were good enough to coach FSU.

ok, catching up with this thread. sorry not going to @ errbody who posted what I'm replying to ..

Robert Cooper is almost 400 pounds. apparently he can't get through 3 plays without being gassed. he needs to lose that. source: guys talk you hear things.

Even if Urbie gets away with it, which it looks like he will, this whole memory loss thing seems like a good opportunity for negative recruiting. How you gonna be a good coach if you can't remember what worked last year, etc. ?

I don't think Fisher told his assistants to do anything wrong. I think he probably says things in a way that can provide plausible deniability. Just enough so he can toss them under the wheels if necessary. Also, I don't know anything about his personal relationship with these assistants.

The quote about you don't become head coach at FSU until you've won championships... Based on what history? We've had 2 in the last 40 years. I don't think either had won much before that. Maybe they meant to throw a "should" in there?

Brian Jones I'm guessing is playing a long shot that he can point to if he somehow turs out right, and that no one will remember if, no, when he's wrong.

He must have read Phil Steele's preview. PS has uf as his "roulette chip" team.

Regarding the quote about not being hired at FSU unless you have won championships... I can only remember one coach hired in Tally who had previously won a Natty. That is Mark Krikorian and his title was in the small school ranks.
Some folks just have no historical perspective, but rather think current events represent “how it has always been”.

See, I resemble that remark and appreciate the fact that you recognize said resemblance. Not all have your perceptive talents and rather sick notions. You are obviously self taught and advanced in life’s twists and turns. Hail, NoleLizards!
I have a mind full of (otherwise) useless pop cultural references ready to tap into for any situation. :p:D

Generally players can subconsciously register if a coach is really into what they’re doing. It does have an effect.

I don’t love consistently up-tempo offense and I’ll need to see a larger sample to get a sense of his potential but I think we’ll be proud of the program under Taggart.
