Da Bears.I wanted the Raiders to draft Roquan Smith, but the Bears got to him first, and now the Bears have Mack.
The money that Mack is getting is too rich for my blood, $60 million due at signing. I love the package that the Raiders are getting, but the problem is that everything that McKenzie rebuilt, Gruden is tearing it apart and McKenzie is just another tie in the office. It's not about wins and losses, it's about selling tickets in Vegas.
I might become a Bears fan.
ding ding ding, we have a winnerFMFFM
And the Gators still suck.
Was just getting ready to post. I am going to go there: what a contrast to his predecessor who wanted to renegotiate his contract every year.

And I thought he just couldn't get any more awesome. I love our head coach!
Exactly! There’s no doubt he “won the offseason”. I just hope his game day performance matches everything else. If it does, then there’s no doubt we upgraded.
Why are people so high and scared of Miami? They're severely overrated. It took an awful Charles Kelly D, a checked out team and coaching staff, and a CB who thought he was already in the NFL for Miami to squeak by with a lucky throw/catch to win and break a long losing streak. That's the same Miami team that then went on to lose to any real team on their schedule...which has happened almost every year for the past 5-6 years. Why is this year any different? It's not like Richt can coach teams up, we've seen that before as well. Screw that, we're taking it to them this year.
I also think ND is overrated, but not to the degree Miami is.
Let me change that....he can get more awesome when he recruits an Oline!!And I thought he just couldn't get any more awesome. I love our head coach!
...And some LBs as well as some DBs capable of covering anyone besides the 80's-era Redskins "Smurfs".Let me change that....he can get more awesome when he recruits an Oline!!
I sure hope so.Bunk tactics on a night where nothing went our way. Imo that was the low point of the year and we'll see greener pastures.
That's what can happen when you give quality coaching an entire offseason to prepare for you. Now we shall see whether or not if Tech shot their entire load game one.Read an interesting SI article this am that gave me hope. Said that Foster had a plan that switched up the look before every snap that threw off our offense and it's not the first time it's killed a spread team early in the season - did the same thing to Ohio State a few years back. And they came back and rolled.
Again, the D looked solid, Frenchy looked good and we moved the ball despite the bad line play. I think we settle down and have a decent year.
Man if they shot theirs in game 1, we are going to have a massive amount saved up when we decide to shoot ours cuz we didn't even come close. That's what can happen when you give quality coaching an entire offseason to prepare for you. We're like tantric Buddhists!Man if they shot theirs in game 1, we are going to have a massive amount saved up when we decide to shoot ours cuz we didn't even come close.![]()
Speaking of going to Miami, back in '88 we were preseason #1 for the first time (Remember the Seminole Rap?) and got spanked in the Toilet Bowl in our opener by the sugarcanes 31-0. The sky had fallen, and we were a national laughing stock.
We didn't lose again & finished the season with a Sugar Bowl victory over Auburn and a resulting #3 final ranking.
So regarding a solution to the BS flopping of players to stop fast pace offenses. What should the NCAA do? The problem is, players actually do get dinged so it is really hard to penalize.
I think best solution I heard someone at the office mention is a mandatory minimum number of following plays, let's say 9, that a player who causes a stoppage of play to be attended to and walked off the field has to miss. If it happens twice, player has to sit out whole game. My favorite part was when three VA Tech guys flopped after one play. One got up fairly quickly after seeing the other two down. That would have been great time if such a rule was out there as three starters were out next 9 plays.
Might cut into guys jogging down to the goal line after a 95 yard run and keeling over injured...
Also I would make all conferences, if clear video evidence, as was the case in this game, shows coaches or players directing a player to fake injury even one time, to fine the school. And a significant amount. It really hurts the game and TV broadcast as well. Not a good look.
Get Wilcox on the horn now!So, a friend & I were talking about this at lunch today. He isn't an FSU fan, so he really didn't have much cheering interest last night, he just wanted to see a good college football game. It was him that brought up the topic and we got to discussing it.
First off, injuries on offense and special teams need to be handled the same way they are now. Those guys aren't typically faking or trying to gain an advantage by stopping play.
Guys on defense should be treated differently.
- If injured and they cannot get off the field on their own, they should be required to sit out the remainder of the series. A possession change must take place before they can come back on the field.
- If a player is injured and trying to get off the field but cannot because the offense is trying to go fast, the clock can be stopped to help the player off the field. They cannot stop on the field, and no substitutions can be made by the defense unless the offense makes changes first.
- If the same player is "injured" more than 2 times in a game and cannot get off the field on their own, they need to sit out the remainder of the half. If it is the second half, they are done for the game unless the game goes into OT.
- If a player is caught coming back on early, it is a 15-yard Unsportsmanlike penalty and the player is ejected and has to leave the field. Suspension guidelines can be the same as for targeting.
- If there is video evidence where it shows a coach instructing a player to go down and fake an injury, then the coach is to be suspended for the next game and the school is fined (not sure what, but something substantial).
Obviously this isn't perfect, but I thought I would share what we discussed. There needs to be something done, but honestly I'm not sure how the NCAA could easily enforce anything since injuries are such a big part of football.
