#100pagesnatty Thread 11/08/18 #63pagesnattynumber1 #106pagesnattynumber2

Just saw that Hockman is transfering. Sucks, thought he would develop into a great starter for us. He's going to turn into one of those Wil Grier types that blow up after transfering. Someone is going to get a good one.

Wow. Someone here called it (Tribe?), but I said there was no way a (redshrit) freshman would expect to start over more experienced upperclassmen.

If it's truly a sense of entitlement that caused him to transfer, we're probably better off without him.

Didnt he redshirt last year? So he's going to sit a playable yr on another team's roster? And isn't too late to transfer this yr, when the season has already started? Doesn't make sense with the timing.

Sam Howell has to be feeling especially wise about right now.
I had forgotten about Howell, so maybe it was a wise decision. If DF stays 2 more, Blackman has 3, then Sam will be battling JB after DF leaves, and who knows what other bluechip we recruit.

Just the timing seems off, what's he going to do the rest of the yr?

I agree with you...Seems quite odd.

Auburn, Michigan, UCLA, West Virginia are all starting QBs who transferred from other high-profile schools. Eason will most likely start at UW when he becomes eligible. Alabama won a natty with a transfer QB.

There seems to be a burgeoning free agent market for QBs in college.

We took our own spin with Everett Golson with mixed results.

I didn't even know he was on the team, so can't be shocked.

Hockman said when asked if he would be disappointed with not earning the starting nod. "Whatever is best for the team and whatever I can do to help the team is what I'm going to do."

So the best thing he can do is free up a scholarship...?

Not too late to transfer, he will sit this year, can play in 2019 as a sophomore.

I too think the timeline is suspect, but hey lets just hunt for page 86 as we prepare to kick tech butt.
GO NOLES@!!!

Agree. And after last year, he should know he's a play away from being the starter. Bad decision IMO.
Wondering if he asked Francois if he'll leave after this year? Or maybe he's also worried about how incoming Howell fits into Taggart's scheme.

I agree I think this is not a great decision. To be fair, he did enter FSU with a pro-style offense in mind.

Didn't pro-style QB Justin Herbert thrive under Taggart a year ago?

Pretty scary actually since Frenchy is coming off a bad injury and Blackman is still too thin to take many hits. I liked the idea of having Hockman on the bench and heard good things.

Perhaps this is just me polishing up a turd, but perhaps Frenchy has been looking all world at fall practice indicated he is coming back another year?

He's severely limited in schools he can transfer to and still be eligible to play in 2019. It would have to be schools who haven't started classes yet, so those on the quarter system. That, or JUCO.

I have never liked Gruden, just something about him.

His decision to never meet with Mack reinforces that feeling. They got a nice haul, but that was a heck of a player to trade hoping that some draft picks may be that good.

@Manch. , as our resident fan, thoughts on the Mack trade

I saw mid-July that about 5k tickets were left for the opener.
Heard radio advertisement for tickets on Friday, I guess Monday night game doesn't fit a lot of people's plans...

I wanted the Raiders to draft Roquan Smith, but the Bears got to him first, and now the Bears have Mack.

The money that Mack is getting is too rich for my blood, $60 million due at signing. I love the package that the Raiders are getting, but the problem is that everything that McKenzie rebuilt, Gruden is tearing it apart and McKenzie is just another tie in the office. It's not about wins and losses, it's about selling tickets in Vegas.

I might become a Bears fan.

Difficult to get Tuesday off from work otherwise I would be there. I first thought it was a Saturday night game and I was ready to go. Monday night sucks.
